  • bought this tv last nov.
very happy except sometimes it takes forever to switch it on…must be an android issue.

    • Not an Android issue, I have the same thing with my Sony non-smart TV. There's a setting which allows for quick boot, but it uses more energy in standby.

    • Our KDL55W800C seems to be far more stable after latest firmware - perhaps give that a shot?

  • Thanks for the reminder on VEECs. I just got $50 back for a TV I bought a month ago!

BTW if anyone is also submitting, get extra $5 by using code D5NK.
    Cheers

  • Submitted the energy rebate application and still haven't heard back a month later, although t.v. was bought just out of 18month window…

Also bought this tv recently and really enjoying it. Great having kodi and plex and chrome cast built in. One annoying thing I found was the size requirements of the USB key/drive if you want to record or pause live tv. It says in the manual you need at least a 32gb drive, however with rounding a 32gb isn't big enough so you actually need a 64gb key or above.

  • Great TV i have the 50inch. As others have said takes a while to turn on but other than that cant fault it

Thanks OP for the heads up regarding VEECs, I didn't know about it. Got myself $45 back using yogo's code.

If anyone else is submitting, here's another code 5NJB to get extra $5 off =)

  • Great TV. Android TV is most of the time awesome but sometimes a bit buggy, but it's worth putting up with it.

I think you'd be better off doing the VEEC rebate thing through someone else (e.g. http://www.smartuser.com.au/energy-rebate/). They offer $50, whereas energyincentive.com.au only offer $40. I think if you shop around you might even find you can get a higher rebate than $50

    • Oh, I went through the other link and only getting $60 for my LG 65" but through this link it is $80. Can I cancel it through the other company and go through here?

EDIT Just see if they will increase cashback

Yep I just emailed Energy Incentive about withdrawing my application unless they bump it up to match the $50. They obliged… Happy days! Thanks Matt89 =)

Edit: Let's hope that the $5 additional rebate code is also applied, $55 rebate isn't too shabby!

        • @AnDyStYLe: they matched the $80. Thanks

  • VIC only ah wells

    • I think that just applies for the energy cashback. I can see stores with this TV in NSW

Through my work i can get vouchers for another 7.5% discount. Would happy to help anyone out with this.

    • I'm in NSW but interested in any further discounts? - cheers

      • Pm me so we can work it out.i am in sydney

  • Got this tv through the eBay promo a while back, its not perfect but I love it

  • Have the KDL55W800b (non Android) and its excellent apart from load times. I happened to get a $120 voucher from Harvey Norman in return for the VECC credits when I bought it in Jan last year. Win win for both parties.

  • You guys reckon its worth it without the Energy Incentive cash back? I'm after a good TV, 50-55 inches, and have been trying to wait for a solid deal but am quickly losing patience!

    • Yes. The price is very good given that I got mine (800b) for almost the same price 1½ years ago. That was when the dollar was much stronger.

Got this TV from the last deal. Got it Pro calibrated and this set is amazing! Also there was a firmware update for this set this morning.

  • Bought this TV over last weekend and amazed with the picture and sound quality. For your notes, my requirement is to just watch regular DTV and some youtube and over internet media contents which it fully satisfies.

Tried cheap ALDI BAUN ultra hd 4K tv for almost a month and were very disappointed with the picture quality, screen refresh rate, sound quality. Returned it and bought this TV.

Haven't got much chance to have hands on yet but whatever time I spent with it is quality time. :)

You might want to use following referral code CPLBR to get $5 cashback on energyincentive.com.au. Looks like they have increased the cashback from $40 to $50.

    Cheers

I have the 65 inch version. 4k unnecessary unless you want to sit less than 2m away imo. The motionflow chips on these units make them very smooth, once you're used to that cheaper tvs seem too juddery.

  • Can someone explain what "3D Ready" means?

    • Its ready for 3D you just need to purchase the glasses

    • It does't come with 3D Glasses.

Got it price matched at Bing Lee a few days ago and got the $50 AMEX cashback to bring the cost down to $1045.

Cheers Blasted, enjoying the TV so far.
