Any unbiased reviews (that aren't automatically 5 stars)?
    Can Kodi be upgraded?
    Stuttering?
    Compatibility issues?

  • most importantly.. auto framerate 24p/50p/60p? and pass thru of DTS / AC3 / DTShd etc?

  • I might just replace my second generation crapple tv with this one. Thanks.

  • +1

I have a similar with the S905 not the S905X.

Good unit overall, only real issue is the wifi. Needs to be pretty close or better yet use ethernet.

Kodi can be updated, you get a full play store.

Remote can be a bit clunky. This is still a phone/tablet OS being adapted to run without touch, but it gets the job done. There is an app that you can get on your phone which gives you simulated touch, but it's not the android TV one. I'd have to look it up.

    • please look it up and post here.

I bought the recent r-box RK3288(?) rockchip deal. Have to say, I'm pretty disappointed with it. The one job I want it to do, is to play movies. Preferably via wifi from my PC, but I resigned to the fact that ethernet is required. Regardless, even playing 720p from SD card was unsatisfactory 50% of the time. Any movie with a reasonably high bit-rate, stuttered a little. Audio was often lagging, and sometimes not playing. Firmware updates didn't resolve these issues.

It's funny because my LG G2 can play all of these movies flawlessly with MX player, and it is nearly 3 yrs old…..

Is the S905 any better than my R-box?! lol.

    • yeah, these units are good value as TV media players, I have 2 of the S905 units, but I don't think they will see marshmallow ….. so I guess time for a S905X.

Wish they shipped with AU power pack instead of a travel adapter.

  • How much usable storage space for apps do u get with these units. My old one has bugger all storage for apps.

  • when i try to put the X9Coupon code in the price goes up - not down

    • +1

Yeah it's already onsale so the coupon will return it to the normal price and then discount it further. So $3 cheaper than the current sale price.

  • I have never used one of these. Can you install Skype from Playstore and plug in Logitech C920 via USB to skype through this box?

  • Notice it says shipping 2-7 days on the link.

I bought a Xiaomi power bank 20 days ago, it also said 2-7 days….

It was sent 5 days after ording it…

I went to check the confirmation email for the send out… and it says another 15-30 days… still waiting for it

I would of bought it elsewhere if I knew the delivery would take so long

    • You misunderstood what it meant. It means that it'll ship (leave warehouse) in 2-7 days.

      • +1

Thats what I've since guessed, still misleading

2-7 days to leave your warehouse is also quite extraordinary

        • I don't know the exact specifics of how it works (so I could be wrong), but it does including the processing and packing time. Sometimes orders will be sent directly from the manufacturer or another warehouse.

Fairly standard for Chinese websites. Particularly the 3-4 week free shipping.

        • allow 4 weeks ……. they tend to do consolidated shipping sometimes e.g fill container, give container to Aust post and let Aust post deliver ….. that's why it's cheap / free freight, but takes a while.

  • Does this come with an Australian power adapter?

  • Also how does this compare to the tanix tx5 pro?

  • Thinking of getting something like this for my mother. Can I put on the various Aussie tv channel catch up apps?

  • Very good for the money but I have two issues:

    1. As we all know, the internet here is abysmal. When buffering, the X9 gives some warning that it's basically run out of buffer storage. Not sure if this can be changed at all??

    2. I'm struggling to get the X9 to locate an external storage device. It seems to be ok with network connected devices but nothing plugged in directly.

    Any ideas anyone?
