$40 My Prepaid Ultimate for $20 - 5GB, Unltd Calls/Text/Mms, Unltd Calls to Selected Countries, Unltd Music Streaming @ Optus

140

Same deal as here.

I can't put the expiry time but it appears to expire at 6pm Sydney time 1 August 2016.

It seems the 1GB bonus data offer ended 31 July 2016 (just over an hour ago).
I have a hunch that they will extend this bonus data. It's possible (likely?) that the page simply hasn't been updated with a new expiry. Telstra did the same with their night-time bonus data offers which were supposed to expire on 25 July 2016.

Summary of inclusions:

  • Unlimited Standard National Calls/SMS/MMS
  • 5GB Data
  • Unlimited Music Streaming on the following apps: Google Play Music, Guvera, iHeartRadio, Pandora, Spotify
  • Unlimited International Calls: Japan, China, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, NZ, Singapore, South Korea, UK and USA
  • $10 International Credit to call/text other countries (and the call rates are pretty low, single digit per minute to many countries)
  • 28 day validity
  • Will cost $40 for subsequent months (this appeared to be a commonly asked question in the previous deal)
  • Data rollover up to 15GB if you recharge before expiry
  • Allows you to "qualify" to register as an Optus Perks member to get free socks (in case you're not already!)

Assumptions:

  • Needs to be ordered online and you will need to wait for delivery

Will add to the sections above as more information flows through

Will cost $40 for subsequent months

So it's only a one month deal, is it? Not a cool deal then (unless I misunderstood it).

You must be new to this game.

A lot of us (myself included) are starter kit sluts here. We just jump around between starter kits that we've piled up from Vodafone, Woolworths, Amaysim, Boost, Optus, Telstra and whoever else to ensure we retain these low prices.

The main thing that we need to look out for is the expiry of the starter kits.

Expiry from strictest to least strict goes like this (from what I know):

      • Telstra - the expiry date is the expiry date (like a "Use by") - if it's past the date, the starter kit is no longer active
      • Optus - the expiry date is like a best before - there seems to be some sort of grace period where the starter kit is still valid even for expiry, seems to be ~1 month (can personally testify)
      • Vodafone - no expiry whatsoever

I am not familiar with the expiry of the other starter kits.

Otherwise - I don't disagree with you. I certainly wouldn't pay $40/month for this deal ongoing..

I see. I am too lazy to change from one starter kit to another as I hardly talk on the phone, and mainly access the net on my PC at home. Thanks for the 411 though.

  • Showing $40 for me.

  • Expired. No longer have 50% off.

  • Woolworth have it this week…
