I ordered this SSD several months ago when it was on sale on Amazon. It's a great SSD! Here's my CrystalDiskMark score guys. Hope it helps.

    • I have this ssd also, haven't had any issues with it either.

anyone got a deal for a m2 ssd?

    • I'm looking too.. missed a few 950 Pro deals

      • my laptop only does Sata3 via m2 though. not high tech enuf for nvme

        • I'm in the same boat, I was just going to go with an 850 evo locally, but umart/msy seem to be out of stock for the m.2 250GB model :(

          @based:
Woah… Slow down there!! I almost fell for the same trap. I saw a 250 GB M.2 slot SSD (samsung 850 EVO ssd) for like $135AUD a while ago on pccasegear and thought "well, that's a bargain"… It was soon I found that the speeds are the same between the normal SATA SSD and the M.2 SSD!! The M.2 one strangely only served the function of being able to fit in an M.2 slot with no speed difference. I don't know what SSD you're looking for, but if you want a good M.2 one you gotta be willing to spend the money and do the research!! The one I may get (if not this one) is gonna be the Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD, which I think is cheaper than the M.2 slot SSD!!

        • @Playin97: That's the exact reason I'm after one :)
I recently grabbed an inspiron 15 7000, which comes with a 1TB hybrid drive and an empty m.2 slot (which as far as I can tell only supports SATA, not PCIE)
I'm after an m.2 to use as the system drive with the hybrid left in there just for extra storage.

  • Not a fan of the TLC drives due to longevity issues. Am aware of the Samsung having done some development in this space but still only guarantee to 150TBW. My 370SSD is guaranteed at 1150TBW by comparison.

Tlc is ok for low write scenarios

    • Which is more than fine for average home usage, unless you are doing some kind of activities requiring 24/7 reading and writing to the drive.

      • Yeah don't use it as a download drive or anything that involves stupid amounts of writes especially on the lower capacity drives.

          Well if I max out my connection on Adsl2+, at 8Mbps, so 1MB/s, it'll be 36Gb/day of writing. 150TB/36Gb = 4167 days.
Since there are no future hopes of better internet (thanks Liberals!) I'd say its not an issue with a projected lifespan of 10 years. I'd be expecting to upgrade the storage within 5 years anyway.

This is like complaining about Sydney Bus engine speed limits. Why does it matter? They will never reach the limit with Sydney traffic

        • @cwongtech: I was quoting samsung evo 1tb drives not transcend at half the capacity and who knows what endurance rating.

      • Yep not recommended to torrent on this drive

        • +2

Haha yeah. Don't know about you but my home internet speed won't be stressing an SSD's speed. A platter disc hard drive has more than enough speed to handle my torrent speed.

        • @edfoo: lmao

    • That's a non-issue.

  • Price is now $114.00??

      Items: $96.99
      Shipping & handling: $5.89
      Total before tax: $102.88

The first one shows price $96.99, plus delivery fee, so totally US $102.88

Thanks OP. Ordered one to upgrade my old laptop.

  • is this or the Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD $180 (ebay price last week) better?

    • padman, don't mind if I ask you where is this $180 Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD? I hope you don't mean 750 EVO.

    • The EVO is in another class of it's own cannot compare it to this one

      • Why in another class?

        • Just a figure of speech, the speeds are significantly better on the 850 EVO. But if you're coming from HDD to SSD any of these will blow your mind

        • @hcetigol: I don't think many users will notice much speed difference in day to day usage between all of these SSDs, but yes going from HDD to SSD definitely a big difference.

        • @edfoo: Yeh definitely for everyday users who mainly "read" off the SSD going for the cheaper one is better value. I really need to get a 28 degree card for these amazon deals as after my bank takes a cut with regular card it's usually 5% more than XE conversion

  • This or the SanDisk Ultra plus? Ultra plus is slightly faster I think?
