Just purchased the new Harry Potter book at Kmart hurstville for $15!! Not sure if it's one day only though and if it's store specific! It's not advertised but when you go in store the signs were all there. the books were located at the cashiers. Great for all those who missed out on the big w deal coz u cbb to queue from 7am and it's sold out…
Yes, but it was sold out at big w before it commenced selling coz of the devoted fans who decided to start queuing at 7am…so it's an alternative option and there are not big w's at many places.

Queue this morning at bigw and still didnt get the book. Really upset with them as they only sell 2 boxes assuming 10 books in each box. And each person can get upto 3 books.

Is this book a full story or more a novella of the play? I thoroughly enjoyed the HP series and was hoping for a full fledged kick start to a new series even though the end of HP7 pretty much killed off the storyline for the main characters for the following 10 odd years.
It's a script of the play. And a penultimate draft at that. The final version, the actual script used once the play opens, will be released next year.
I guess she expects people will just buy the final version next year on top.
I doubt she got a say in any of it. lol

Up until now the plays have been essentially rehearsals that were not guaranteed to be the final version. The final version of the play starts now. I know because i have tickets for 2 weeks time.
Therefore there was not enough time to print and publish the final version to be timed with the official release of the play.

As I was picking up a copy, there was this woman who was pretty upset as she bought a copy from Dymocks and kept on saying "Are you for real?" while looking at the price sign.
I have a friend who went to a bookstore that was having a big event, and she picked it up for $40. She's feeling a bit ripped off, considering this was hard copy too. But she did get the whole experience, along with the book.

About 20 copies at kmart kardinya. They put the books at the back, and seems like not much interest on the book. if everywhere else is sold out, you might want to check there.

Probably not for a long time. It's a play. I'm going to the play in 2 weeks time and I was talking to the staff in the UK on Friday and they told me it will now extend until next year on the London West End, then it will most likely start to tour the world. So i don't expect a movie anytime soon, they will be milking the play for quite a while it seems.

I'd recommend reading up on the plot-line before buying it. I'm not sure what Rowling was on when she wrote it, but I want whatever she's having.

I was once in Dymocks and asked whether they had a price match policy - I wanted a best seller that they had listed for just a couple of bucks below RRP. Not good enough, I thought, I should check if they could better that (I was feeling too lazy to walk the 600m down the road for the lowest price I could find).
When I suggested that it was Kmart and without even mentioning that they had the same title for almost half the price, they immediately refused and said that Kmart sold books at well below their cost.
Yup, no doubt about that. Kmart wants you to go and buy the book and a couple of t-shirts for 5 bucks at 10c cost. It's a loss leader.
And that's why if Dymocks don't change their attitude, they will go under.
Just make sure you know what you are getting before you buy it. It's not written by JK Rowling and its not even a full novel. Its literally written as a play, so XYZ - "Blah Blah" then the next person. If you need your Potter fix then by all means, but its no better than most of the fan fiction available free online.
