PS4 Grand Theft Auto V - $48 @ BigW, Top Ryde, NSW - Online $85

90

Just got back from Top Ryde BigW and noted that GTA V is $48. Website still shows $85.

Seems like the lowest the PS4 version has been (too lazy to take a look at the XBONE version, but probably the same).

Enjoy it after grabbing your copy of $15 Harry Potter screenplay.

Just don't understand such an ancient game being so expensive tbh.. i know that's the going rate but it's such a rip-job

    • +1

Because it's the most expansive open-world game on a console.

Also, there are less reasons to sell it for lower when people are already happy to pay the full price - like the time I saw someone drop $110 (in cash) for the game at EB.

did you just copy and paste that comment from a previous thread?

        • +1

Yep. It's what I also said in that thread.

    • It's because the price of the game isn't related to your subjective, personal opinion on how much it's worth.

      • +1

it's not subjective that it's old and that games generally decrease in price with age. That sticker says $85 RRP. That seem fair to you given the age of the game?

        • Definately. For GTA V, definately.

Any other game? Nah get stuffed you greedy pricks, what do you think we are mugs? In all fairness though, I'm only saying that after playing it for the first time a few weeks ago.

        • Now your trying to price the item by how subjectively fair you think the price is.

          @Diji1:

Isn't that what the market is, prices of what people are prepared to pay for it?.

    • You should see how much it is on steam

Gotta say- after loving San Andreas- that I found GTA IV to be more than a bit of a slog; actually had to force myself to get through the last half, and was consequently in no rush to play GTAV. Picked up a cheap second hand game a few weeks ago, and blow me down there was also a GTA V disc stuck in behind the other game's booklet. To draw this bro's cool story to its conclusion, I loaded it up not expecting much and holy crap this game is effing unbe-%ucking-lievable. It wasn't the story (although that was reasonably entertaining), it wasn't the very ordinary combat, there was zero innovation, it was the monumental achievement of creating this massive, stunning, cohesive world. The attention to detail was just extraordinary. Obviously a moot point seeing as I got it free, but if I'd had to pay $50-60 for it it still would have been my biggest gaming bargain of all time. All time.

San Andreas is hands down the best GTA ever made IMO, i dont think any GTA can top that. Alot of the original GTA team have left rockstar since then. GTAV is still an incredible game, i agree though the story felt a bit of a slog towards the end and some missions were frustrating. Still worth every cent though, can't wait for GTAVI !

    • You think this is expensive?. The PC version is going for $79 at JB Hi-Fi. The PS4 console version for $48 is a bargain compared to that.

    • +1

If you take a look at http://www.igea.net/ it was still the biggest selling game in Australia last week - if people are prepared to pay, why would you charge less?

  • I stupidly paid $60 for halo reach a year after it came out. No more.

Recently I bought COD:AW XboxOne for $5, a gem I found in a clearance trolley hidden away in an isle at kmart.

  • $48 seems as low as GTA V will go, GTAV is STILL a best selling game, most ppl pick it up with every purchase of ps4 console, so price is unlikely to crash.

the $20 Dick smith offer does not count, it was extremely limited stock, most people werent able to get it.

at $48 is worth every cent, amazing game, no point waiting if you haven't gotten this already.

    • And it was also in December 2015 when Dick Smith was soon to enter into administration the following month and then liquidation. Well it was in the time when Dick Smith was desperate to clear out all remaining stock for cash at prices not normally seen. So it wasn't a normal thing.

  • The last time I checked, EB is selling this for $50 new/ $44 Pre-owned ( for anyone who doesn't live close to big w)
