Can You Trust Refurbished Electronics?

I'm Looking to buy a laptop, but I'm a little bit hesitant spending so much money ($700<) on something that might not be completely up to scratch.

What is your experience with buying refurbished products? Would you recommend it? Where did you get it?

I have a Dell Precision refurbished. Bought 4 years ago, no problems.

    Yes, for most things.
Electronics don't degrade in performance like other equipment, they (usually) work or don't work.
eg/ a HDMI cable works, or it doesn't. There's no quality to be gained or lost, unlike RCA cables.

    What you shouldn't trust are:
    - warranties (90 day is bs)
    - batteries (they degrade badly)
    - hard-drives (bins love em)
    - anything that comes into frequent contact with moisture, heat or friction (acute or chronic)

Depends on your definition of refurb. I got a Dell outlet refurb and it was brand new (ie, business order that didnt go thru).

There's an Asus laptop for refurb on sale now but you bet these are laptops then went to a customer and they returned it. I'm wary of those.

I've had a Dell Factory Outlet refurb for about a year, and it runs perfectly and looks like new. I just bought another one today, for a daughter.
