Hi all,
I'm after some help with buying a new TV.
I currently have an LCD^, chromecast and a broken down PVR (dead HDD, I think).
I want the ability to do two things
1) watch catchup TV directly on TV (ideally not through chromecast)
2) 'series link' record FTA TV shows
Re #1 - I figure is pretty easy - any new smart TV will do the trick, right?
Re #2 - has me stumped. Technically I guess I could just watch everything on catch-up and never record, but my wife really wants all her shows in one central place. And I think recorded TV would be better quality / more reliable than catch-up TV?
Re series link - Will a smart TV do this? Do I need to connect it to a HDD? Do I need a PVR? Do I need some kind of Freeview EPG? The more I look into this, the more confused I get.
Please help.
Also, if anyone has any TV suggestions, I'm all ears. I'm after ~55" TV, decent picture and sound quaity, doesn't need to be 4K or curved or whatever latest gadgets double the price. Maybe spend around ~$1200-$1500?.
Thanks

^ My current TV is technically a smart TV (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/72870?page=1) but I never manage to region change and get it all sorted.
Smart TV's usually have PVR's… and in that they normally have series record function, just gota put a USB HDD to it…your current tele should do all those things (maybe)
