    pic doesnt work.

  • 10% Off iPods is nice, if Only iPad had been launched already … sigh

    • I expect it'll be a month (or possibly two) before anyone other than Apple gets the ipad.

  • is this today and saturday?

    • Saturday and Sunday i think

  • I was at Myer yesterday (before the sale started??) and their notebook prices were pretty ordinary. I think even with 15% off those prices they'd still be expensive. I hope I wasn't seeing the sale price already. If anyone spots a notebook bargain there please let us know.

    • Their prices are generally quite ordinary. They're fine for Apple because the prices are the same everywhere and Myer/DJs can if pressed give a 10% discount (like JBs/DSE).

Sometimes they have clearance models that are actually quite good. This was the case when Windows 7 came out. They had Vista PCs they were offloading even though (at the time) you could get a free (or near free) Win7 upgrade.

Netbook prices tend to be fairly level too so you might find a decent price there too.

Plus, some (including me), stocked up on Myer gift cards before Christmas that gave you an extra 10% basically ($110 for $100). I recently used some to buy iTunes vouchers 2x$20 for $30. :)

      • Also you can use your myerone card at myer, giving you $20 per $1000 spent, ie a further 2% off. Plus they take amex which means a further 1-2% off in points back depending on your card

    • yeah I need a basic notebook around $500 range. Was wondering if their prices would be good after the 15% off, but from what you say, doesn't look like it.

  • … now lets wait for the DJ's one to come out.

  • Myers must be really struggling, with the number of sales they are having.

    • +1

Actually if you have been reading the papers, this is their tactic (as well as DJ's now taht Myer has made it public). It was in the Bussiness Day section of the SMH a couple days back.
They're no longer aiming for the highest profit or revenue, but to increase their sales number/volume and increasing foot traffic through their stores. Which means win-win situation, they get what they want and we get awesome bargains.

      • I actually did see and watch that on TV too. but i some how believe that they are being forced to do it due to drop in sale. not out of their sheer goodness as they would make it out to be

        • Well retail is being slapped around a fair bit across the board, not just Myer (look at Clive Peeters). Withdrawl of stimulus money + interest rate rises (+ IPO for Myer specifically) = some new strategies from all retailers to beef up the annual accounts that will finish in a tick over a month, otherwise some tough questions are going to be asked by shareholders.

          • @itchynose: yes i know. problem is they are soon going to run out of solutions.and the global situation is no getting any better. not to mention Australian not wanting to spend. not that im complaining. the customer is finally king. :D
