Telstra Boots COO Who Oversaw Inability to Deliver Services To Customers

Telstra has issued a press release to announce that Chief Operating Officer Kate McKenzie is "retiring" after overseeing a 2 year period where Australia's most expensive ISP and mobile services provider failed to provide a working network for large numbers of its customers.

In spite of the disastrous outcomes for customers that have occurred, Telstra paid clowns aka public relations heaped praise on Kate McKenzie in the press release claiming that the years were "wonderful" and that she had been a "positive force" in the company.

Telstra customers can only hope that her successor knows how to deliver a network that doesn't go down repeatedly.

Quote - she had been a "positive force" in the company.

About the only positive force she had is in shorting out the network

        What's wrong with that?

Ms McKenzie will leave Telstra in the coming weeks. Group Executive Global Enterprise and Services, Brendon Riley, will be interim Chief Operations Officer with immediate effect while a permanent replacement is found.

    I nominate Diji1.

the COO will probably receive a multi million $ payout/golden parachute.

I wonder if she'll get $20,000,000 like sol trujillo.

do CEOs have any effect on companies? i think they are mostly overpaid and are just along for the ride.

How do I get a job like she did?

  • Perhaps if Telstra spent more money on delivering a reliable network than creating adds that are absolute fantasy then they may actually improve……

    • Let's not, and say we did!

      Much easier and more profitable.

  • We don't get good reception in our apartment after complaining many times. Telstra can't do anything about it and suggests we buy a signal booster for $700! The phones drop out all the time.
I tried Vodaphone and Optus first with the same bad reception.
A telstra NBN technician said all telcos' signals don't work well in apartment complexes, signal boosters don't work and they need to update which will cost millions.
The future is more darn apartment complexes and worse signals.
He also suggested contacting the ombudsman with signatures from other residents.
    I am doing this.
Would you do this too to swamp the TIO office?
NB: Telstra NBN is only fast if you buy a speed booster for $20 a month on the medium plan on ethernet.
Wifi doesn't work downstairs in our apartment and is super-slow upstairs.

    • used to be a phone only worked in one part of a house, but none-the-less, making multiple complaints about phone reception might be a good way to get a shiny new telstra micro-wave repeater put onto your roof or, they may even put it onto one of those palm-trees. If your live in the lower floors you'll be at eye-level with it so will never have any probs with reception then.
The wifi may be a different story, sounds like you don't have it configured optimally, do some homeworl on it, it should work well..

  • The shareholder gods required a sacrifice, and Mckenzie was chosen. Let us hope the gods are satisfied with this offering.
