First ones when i click i get "Please select a product option" with a drop down menu but there is nothing to pick from.

    • Yeah that's weird. When I did a search "Philips Over Ear" on HN's site and yielded nothing.

    • +1

The 'over ear' one is doing this correct. The one I want!

    • out of stock they tell me….

    • Live chat with "Trevor" and he explains that "Unfortunately we no longer have this model in stock, its on Cashier page, they have removed the item from website" :(

I own both of those DJ style phones.
And I actually amateur DJ with them.
The isolation is good, and the highs are super clear. Mids are lacking.
For that price, I'd buy again.

The bluetooth headphones seem pretty good for under $50 ? http://www.harveynorman.com.au/headphones-audio-music/headph…

$97 at thegambleguys … with 120% difference with their 30 day guarantee comes down to $38.80

      • How do we get them to price beat it? Is there an option on the site or is it just an instore thing?

        • I think you have to go instore to price match before you buy

        • +3

Folks, note this is stated on GG's price beat page:

"Claims less than $50 will only be paid as store credit"

        • @fookos:

          That's good because 120% of the difference ($97-$48.50) x 1.2 is $58.80!

      • Has anyone had any experience in purchasing an item then claiming the 30 day guarantee on the same day?

        • I used it once couple of months ago for a home theatre system . you simply need to fill a form online and provide URL or screen capture of the deal that you are claiming against . You will have option to choose store credit or pay less card which you can use everywhere

        • @bharath:
          Thanks for that

        • +1

          @bharath:

          which you can use everywhere

It's somewhat satisfying walking into harvey norman with a goodguys branded eftpos card.

      • Do we need to buy first at GG and ask for price match or can directly claim the 120% difference??

      • +3

Done. Super easy process. To anyone who is wondering - you buy first from TGG and then make a claim. It doesn't matter if it is immediately after.

I just got a confirmation email:

"We have validated your claim and we are pleased to inform that your claim has been successful.

You have chosen to receive a PayLess EFTPOS card.
Your PayLess EFTPOS card will be mailed to your postal address and received within 21 working days."

        • Hi mate. Can you please upload a copy of the receipt from TGG assuming it's got $39 on there. Cheers mate

        • @vishmanj: sorry the original receipt is for the full price, and the email doesn't say how much the eftpos card will be for :( (but you can calculate it - as snoo did)

        • You can check balance of the card once its arrived

        • Does it have to be in stock in nsw harvey norman if i buy it from tgg in nsw ao i could make a claim?

          Thank you.

        • @drazenm:

I don't think it matters now either way given Harvey Norman price is back up to $97. Don't think you'll be able to claim against a lower price that is no longer available. If I'm wrong please feel free to correct me.

Picking up my order tomorrow - couldn't get there before close after work today.

    • Excellent - just purchased some for pickup. Impulse buy for today. I'm not going to stuff around with the Good Guys thing as these could sell out quickly before you sort a deal with Good Guys and I don't personally have the time to pfaff about today. Good luck if you can get them for $39 from GG's though.

    • out of stock now :(

      • Still plenty of stock in WA

scotty - as always, thanks for your posts!

  • 7.95 for postage - Harvey Norman sigh

Thanks for the link Scotty. Got a pair!

  • Thanks scotty.

Pricebeat at officeworks and grabbed the bluetooth over ears SHB5500 for $46.08 and the wired over ears SHL3060 for $13.30.

    • SHL3060 are on the ear. Over the ear are larger ones.

      • +3

I have small ears. They are all go over for me.

        • ha ha

    • Any idea if Officeworks will price match if they don't have them in stock at your nearest store? (ie order them in for you at the beaten price)?

  • Can the SHB5500 be used in the gym. Any users can you please provide reviews on sound quality, noise isolation, how long can they be used without discomfort. Many thanks

    • Couple of things that may detract: no padding on the headband and no forward/back buttons on the headset - basically means you need to use the controls on your device.

      • +1

unless your device supports long hold volume for back and forward.

        • Good point. Going by the manual this is the case. Hold volume buttons to skip back or fwd.

    • Ended up getting these from HN also for gym and general walking to work etc.
Should be good and for < $50 can't complain, considering I was looking at B&O's new ones but they were crazily priced!!

  • Just bought one of it: "Philips ActionFit SHQ3300 Sports Earhook Headphone - Lime".

  • How would either of the DJ style headphones be for kids? Looking to grab a few for 6 & 8 year old.

    • Don't suggest kids that small to use headphones/earphones…since they are "underage(physically)" for these tech which may harm their ears.

      • +1

        nanny state much

        • +1

My 7 year old uses in ear headphones and is very responsible with the volume control. Heck even my 5 year old on the odd occasion has used them and is the same….

    • the meelecs for the kids are pretty good and have volume limiting tech http://www.meeaudio.com/KJ15-PK

you can search OzB for previous deals to give you an idea

For reasons of fitment they won't fit kids head. These On-Ear headphones have a solid headband which is sized for adult heads. On-ear headphones require a decent clamping force to work.

Kids generally have better hearing than adults. Most adult music listeners (especially concert goers, DJ's, elderly) gradually lose ability to hear treble. DJ headphones have been equalised with a V-shape to increase loudness of treble and bass. Some kids will be highly sensitive to harsh or loud treble sounds. For young kids they may prefer lots of bass and de-emphasis on treble.

Something you have to be cautious of is DJ headphones can handle loud volumes. Its easy for kids to make mistakes like maxing the volume, turning off the device and forgetting the volume, share their music device with unwitting siblings/friends, etc. Ensure your kids are aware of their risk of hearing loss.

    • I agree with Mumbles - your kids ears are in their prime for hearing quality music. As you age, you lose the ability to hear higher frequencies.
If they like their music, buy them the best you can afford.

      • Thanks for the replies. Will look into those linked above. Any other recommendations?

    • Take a look at Kmart. They have kids headphones for $10 (some with volume limiting) and the build quality is pretty good.

      • Will do. Cheers.

  • Ordered mine today.

    See how they go!

  • Im a complete amateur un this field

But realistically. Hiw woukd these compare to somethibg like Bose QuietComfort 25 Acoustic for $500

I wouldnt mind getting a decent pair but they range from 60 to 500.

I dont want to get caught up in hype or brands and over pay

    • The bose comfort range is excellent for comfort. The qc25 are good at $300. I could wear them all day long without fatigue

    • The sound quality of QC25 may only worth $50. For $500 you can get QC 35 or something with much better sound quality.

    • Hello hellohello. As with the kids ones linked above, the Meelecs get a good wrap, if you're after bluetooth then the Matrix2 probably compare to the Bose, as they run AptX Bluetooth V4. Note prices are in USD. They are a great company to deal with, based in California, and provide excellent service. Back when the dollar was strong Mike from Mee Audio posted here regularly.

  • Was hoping to use the bluetooth ones with my recently 'Ozbargain-aquired' Xbox One - but read last night the XB1 doesn't do bluetooth… how weird! Was hoping to retire my wireless sennheisers that are getting on a bit.

Might have to look at grabbing a bluetooth transmitter to plug into the AV receiver's headphones slot instead.
