  • I guess the Sony X range will be here soon so Z5 is being discounted.
I am happy with mine, works really well.

          Vodafone has it.

good price on xperia z5, GREAT phone with waterproof and long battery life

    • +3

Don't count on the waterproofing to be actually waterproof. Good phone otherwise.

      • +1

yep maybe i should say splash proof

      • +10

Just don't wash it under a tap and especially don't let water run into the speaker holes, then you should be fine. Don't ask me how I know.

        • lol

        • +3

I did EXACTLY that on the Z2. No problems

        • +5

Not sure which one you had but I've had Z1, Z3 and now Z5C and they're all waterproof.

I've swam countless times with my Z1(make sure flaps are closed) and it was perfect.

If you have Z2 or above, go to Dialer -> ##7378423## -> Service Tests -> Pressure Sensor -> If you apply light pressure to the screen, you should see the numbers go up then back down to normal. If it doesn't, then you've got a air leak.

        • I know how that one goes LOL!

        • @wombok2:

don't get me wrong mine still works - the worst it got was watermarks under the screen, which dried out after I dunked the phone into a box full of silica gel (cat litter - don't use rice). Some watermarks remain but phone's in perfect working order. The water pressure from the tap was probably beyond the IP57 rating of the z1c.

        • @huit:

They'll always be bad batches and bad experiences for phones, but I have definitely heard water going in some handsets with the flaps still closed so you're not the only one.

I usually do the pressure test once in awhile to make sure its still air tight.

I've had a number of Xperia Z series phones, and never had any problems with numerous amounts of submerging them into water.

The original Xperia Z was: IP55 & IP57 (meaning the device is water and dust resistant and can be submerged in water of up to a metre in depth (3 feet) for up to 30 minutes and it will work fine)

And as of Xperia Z3 has been: IP65 & IP68 (waterproof and protected against dust as long as you follow a few simple instructions: all ports and attached covers must be firmly closed; you can’t take the phone deeper than 1.5 m of water and for longer than 30 minutes)

Same, Z, Z2 and Z3, all had no issues being tap washed.. or taking underwater video for that matter!

      • My Z1 has been submerged and tap-washed (not high-pressure cleaned of course). No problems at all.
But I have gone for a Xiaomi Note 3 (Pro) as replacement, because I just cannot justify the cost for the same specs. The Z5 will stop receiving updates in about a year, and you can only hope the last update is a good one. For my Z1, one of the last updates totally crippled battery life (Google it…), and I had to reload firmware from scratch to fix it.

        • How do you know when your phone will receive the last update from Android?

        • @tradiesunited: You google it. Sony has officially announced that the Z1 will not get updated to Android 6.0. Their policy is to provide updates for 2 years since its release date.

  • Any review on Hisense tv? Or should I wait for another Sony offer for 75 inch to in range of $3600?

    • Can't see any reviews but I would def go in to compare it against one of the big brands

  • christ almost 500 for SD400 chip the 825

you can get a china droid with same spec for around $100, is the better built quality worth extra 350$ you decide.

    • Yeah, it's a complete joke. That's a >3 year old spec. Spend a little bit over $100, and you can get a reliable China phone with double the spec.

    • Yeah it's not as good as I thought spec wise for the price so probably better looking at something else but I personally would never buy a Chinese import

    • any recommendations?

  • I can't believe that the Hisense has local dimming. No other TV I have seen recently here has it.

OMG! What a rort on the Sony Xperia Z5. I'm hoping people realise this is only the normal Z5 with FHD and not the Premium with the 4K screen. Way overpriced @ $996 to begin with. You can get the Premium for that price that comes with at 5.5" 4K screen with a 3430mAh battery as opposed to what's on offer here with a 5.2" FHD screen and a 2900mAh battery. JB is quickly becoming a Harvey Norman with their pricing bullshit.

    • +1

I will interested if there is a Z5 Premium for under $700 (assuming local stock)

cheapest I can find is MSY or Mobile Citi's recent sale @ $799

      thx :)

      • I didn't mean that you can get the Z5 Premium for under $700. What I meant was that the original price that JB had the normal Z5 listed as was $996 in which you can get the Z5 Premium for. As you mentioned, you can get it for $799 from MSY.

        • lol ok, got me excited for a moment :)

  • what about this guy??
