4ghz battery pack. it can probably run pokemon go by itself.

      Hi dabell

Thanks for point this out so quickly, typo & fixed.

  • +5

This is useless for any phones created within the past 4 years.
Your phone will use more then 5v/1A to run Pokemon Go so the best you can get from this is that your battery will not drain as quickly as before.

This is a useless feature for many pokemon players, you don't start your day out with the big clunky battery charger, your battery gets low so you are forced to get it out, but with this your phone will probably die 30mins later.

You need at least 5v/2A, but you'll find some phones will need Quick Charge so that they can charge while playing Pokemon.

    Either way 5v/1A is useless.

You can get the same thing for $6 here, http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Handy-4000mAh-Portable-Lipstick-S…

like any of these "deals" have anything relating to pokemon anyway other than jumping on the hype bandwagon

I actually want to disassociate myself with any business trying to "lure" more customers this way

has /r/fellowkids written all over it

    • +1

My note edge actually drains battery veeery slowly when I'm playing go with the screen brightness on overdrive with my xiaomi. Definitely need a qc charger if you want the phone to recharge.

    • I doubt a phone, even fully loaded will draw more than 1A.
That would put 75% of phones at 0% within 2 hours.
Even gaming, not many phones are that power hungry

      • +2

Well I'm sorry to say but I'm right.

All the newer phones need 2A to stop them from losing charge while playing Pokemon Go.

Why or how doesn't matter, its fact.

        • Why and how DOES matter, otherwise its hearsay.
I was on a ZTE BladeD last night, with a 1A charger, and went from 22% to 40%, in the hour I was playing GO.
This phone was purchased NEW yesterday.

Friend was on an M9, with the same setup, and while it only went up 1% in that same hour, it still charged (with AR mode on!)

Which "All newer" phones are you talking about?

        • @MasterScythe

The ZTE blade is a low end device.

          I'm talking about Samsung/HTC/Sony/LG etc

        • @samfisher5986:

          You're correct,
But its also brand new. Literally. Its less than 6 months after release!
Its for sure one of the "all new phones"
And the HTC M9 in question doesn't count?

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to discuss this, but its pretty simple math and electronics here. Drawing 1A @ 5V to charge a 3.7v (on average) 2.5A battery, should be more than capable.

        • +1

          @MasterScythe:

Hey your right, I made the assumption that all new phones were samsung, LG etc. I was not thinking about ZTE or similar phones at all.

        • @samfisher5986:
Though in your defence, I don't see why a 'brand name' product can't spend the 1c (china wholesale price) more for the 1.5A regulator.

While my argument was that "its enough" its still a question as to "why not more?"

        • @MasterScythe:

Well its not more because this is likely old and cheap stock.

The average shop wouldn't sell anything that charges at 1A because no good supplier would make or sell these.

      • If you can recommend a free app that measures power draw from the device while playing go, I'd be happy to take some measurements. Keep in mind I did say the screen was on overdrive, Samsung's have an extra brightness level that pump out probably over 450nits when on auto brightness and the light sensor is on direct sunlight.

        • There's no real way to be accurate with an app, since the phone uses a different voltage to the charge pack.

          You use one of these
          http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/USB-Power-Amp-Meter-Tester-Chargi…

        • @MasterScythe: I meant like current power usage, not when charging. I got one of those usb doctor things but it'll probably just read 20w regardless since the charger is maxed out

        • @krisspy:

You should be able to get a semi-accurate reading by fully charging the phone, then using the USB thing once its full, and gaming.

(hopefully) you can see actual values, since its just 'topping up' now.

  • +2

Yep…or go the 10000 Xiaomi for not a lot more money!

    • +1

yep that 10000 Xiaomi is among the best $15 i ever spent

      • hi. where did you find this one for $15?

        • it was an Ozbargain deal about a month ago with Ever Buying.

        • @nubzy: Thanks! Found it and purchased :).

    • Better value, or the 20000mAh. I pity the fool who doesn't look through the power bank section of OzB

    • But if you want it in less than 6 weeks from China this might be a better option? (Glad I already have a 10k Xiaomi haha)

    • +1

Gotta be fair though; PokemonGO is happening now, tonight, every night, for the next few months.

You gotta compare apples with apples; are there any other deals PICKUP or at least overnight delivery from within the country?

  • +5

What's this gotta do with Pokemon Go? Shameless marketing.

    • +2

      Pokemon….

      CRASH HELMET
      KNEE & ELBOW PADS
      FRONT & REAR WARNING LIGHTS
      PADDED BUMPER VEST

      The list is endless :)

      • Pokemon DIY Labotomy Kit… oh but that was just released as an app ;)

  • Output: 5V/1A???

come on do you guys even play pokemon?

    • +2

      Clearly not.

    • +1

It's based on TINDER, right? You just chase a different type of (fluffy?) thing?

  • Its missing a built in LED torch for use at night time, so that players dont fall down or walk into trees
