    Just curious.

What is handling fee and how do you justify it?

I mean if i pay by BPAY or debit card, you still have to physically handle the card. So how come there is no handling fee charge?

Paypal takes some of the transfer as fees themselves, the % will cover it. shouldve been called transfer fee than handling

    • Just a different word for surcharge. As Balls said, PayPal takes a certain percentage of the payment. PCCG does it. Other computer stores do it. It's extremely common.

  • credit card company / paypal charges them. they pass it on to customer. simple.

both are allegedly against cc and paypal rules but hey, the IT industry gets pass

also why buy old cards when new cards cost about the same?

      • Link to 1070 for $600?

hence why they call it handling fee rather than "cc/paypal" surcharge lol

      • Confirmed surcharges against PayPal rules:

3.4 No Surcharges. You agree that you will not impose a surcharge or any other fee for accepting PayPal as a payment method. You may charge a handling fee in connection with the sale of goods or services, as long as the handling fee is not higher than the handling fee you charge for non-PayPal transactions.

They can try to call it a "handling" fee all they like, but the fact is, in this case, it still violates PayPal rules & it's a surcharge which does not apply if the customer uses a bank transfer/bPay.

  • I have a G1 980 Ti and was thinking of doing an SLI config
1440p144hz monitor, would like to max fps. right now some games are ~100fps
anyway my question is should I get this now or wait a little? the 980 Ti's are dropping price weekly

I am in a similar situation. From what I gather once the 1070 becomes more widely available, with some specials we will see another hit on 980's.

Right now suppliers are trying to get rid of them ASAP, as they know if they are stuck with them in few weeks time they will have to drop them further. Comes down to wether you cbf waiting a few more weeks for that extra $50 off or not…

They are dropping, and will continue to drop a bit more once the 1060 is released (if indeed it does have 980 like performance as advertised, but we were all burned on the RX 480 advertising 980 like performance yet providing sub 970 performance in DX11 games and non AMD/mantle optimised titles).

When clocked up the 980ti does just as well if not better than a clocked up 1070, and if you already have a 980ti then it may be a better choice to SLI them if your motherboard is capable. At ~$600 for one new it's hard to beat the performance/$$$ which is why I'm upvoting it.

Personally I'm waiting to see what happens in the VR space (SLI/crossfire not supported yet). It's good that the 10xx series supports simultaneous multi projection, but if devs don't support it until the next generation then there's no real point for me to upgrade from my 970 as I tend to only VR game these days and 1440p 60fps on the off chance I use a monitor for gaming - in which case the 970 still has a great $$$/performance metric (if you don't hack in super sampling).

EDIT: What kind of luddite would downvote my post without making a counter claim?

PayPal - 2.0% Handling Fee??? Get (profanity)! Why not put $30 extra and get GTX 1070

  • +2

    Should be $500

Good price for AU but it isn't really a good decision to buy this.

  • Yeah I reckon $500 max for one of these, I'd be tempted at that price.
