Yep true. You could install it in a virtual machine for the odd occasion you use it.
Normally freeway like this application provides an optional install of extra programs, sometimes they can be spyware/malware but it all comes down to who's installing it.

its a password remover not a cracker. you need to know the password to be able to remove it.
It removes any password protection, you don't need to know the password. I just tested it.
It just worked with a US VPN.

I got the "Multiple gift registration codes…" error, tried a US VPN still didn't work, so I tried a different email and then it worked. So maybe use a VPN right from the get go.

You DO need to know the PDF's password to be able to remove it. Even though the interface is a bit clunky, the program does work.
I had the job this weekend of cleaning someone's computer. On it I found "Wondershare Helper Compact". It is an executable run at bootup (whether you like it or not) that is unable to be removed through normal means. It has no uninstaller, and is intentionally left behind after the original Wondershare software (which was voluntarily installed) is uninstalled. I needed to remove entries from the registry manually and delete the executables to get rid of it.
I would not trust this company
The question with "free" applications like this is always: "what else is in there?". If you read the reviews from CNET, someone says there is spyware included. Of course that could have been a dodgy installer, but I would be careful. Lots of nasty stuff out there.
