The data allowance increase is good but I'd rather have 1000 dollars credit than unlimited national calls with 100 dollars worth of international credit.

    Thanks for the post.

    • +2

same here…pretty disappointed with this change. Maybe they will lower their international call rates to something like Aldi mobile's

    • +2

Hmm am I missing something? My understanding is the $1000 credit doesn't include any international calls, and is $1000 call credit is less than "Unlimited national calls", no?

      • +7

$1000 credit does include international calls.

        • Ah makes sense. Thanks.

    • Telstra made a similar change to their Freedom Pre-Paid offer.

      • +2

Yep, that's why I used some Telstra recharge credits to buy ViberOut credits for overseas calls.

  • +1

A time limited offer?? "Activate by 30th September 2016."

    • +1

I think that is for the bonus data. After that, it will revert back to standard data inclusions.

  • -1

So after the first month Is it back to 8gb?

    • Correct but you can roll over data you didn't use to the next month (up to a combined data balance of 15 GB)

  • +5

Don't forget the 10% discount for Woolworths Rewards members. Free signup. Brings the cost down to $27/$40.50

    • +1

(this exclusive offer isn't available in Tasmania).
Don't forget that also. Yes, I know what some people will say.

      • +16

        Yeah only available in Australia

  • Wait so after activation, the first time you recharge with $45 you get 12gb correct?

    • +3

      16GB

      • You both sound like woolies employees marketing more value promotions haha

  • +5

    Aldi mobile still the best

    • +1

I'm currently with aldi but this seems better?

      • Well it reverts to 8 or 3 gb after the first month if you read it

      • If you spend in the $25-30 range I think woolies is better. 3gb instead of 2gb and the data you don't use from your 6gb in the first month will roll over.

  • How do you activate multiple SIMs beyond 2 per e-mail when it says, "Error you have reached the maximum number of ID checks, try again in 30 minutes?"?

    • +9

      Try again in 30 minutes

      • +6

Or change your name to Burger.

  • +5

$100 worth international calls? It turns out to be 20 minutes… $1000 call credit was much better…

  • Anyone notice this part

    for new customers

Ad oppose to the past it would be in regards to the starter pack itself not the "customers"

  • Hi, I am new here so have a question.

$30 plan - $100 worth of intl credit (and premium numbers)

    Premium numbers?

I wonder if this mean I can sms a premium 1900 number if I wish to enter a competition which costs 55c and it's included in my cap?

Any help about this question will be appreciated.

    • Likely not, I can't see where it mentions

      (and premium numbers)

seems to be something OP just added referring to the other call types in the "Information About Pricing" table within the CIS.

Note in the CIS it still says

      premium services are not available.

The support site also still says

Calls and SMS to mobile premium services are not available.

      • Thanks awoff1 for your reply

  • -2

Are they definitely on the Telstra network?

    • +12

      No their site just lies

    • +2

My iPhone reports it as Telstra 4G

      • Thanks BargainKen :)

    • +1

Probably a subset of the Telstra network. It may not included 4GX.

      • Yeah, I read something about that in the last ozbargain deal about Woolies phone plans. I ended up finding it. This is from Clementt:

The 4G service that you’ll get on Woolworths Mobile or Aldi Mobile, though, isn’t quite as high quality as what you’ll get on Telstra, though — speeds are capped to 100Mbps maximum download for MVNOs while Telstra enjoys (theoretical) 4G transfer speeds of 1000Mbps or more.

Similarly, Telstra’s Voice over LTE (otherwise known as 4G voice) service, which has significantly higher voice bit-rates and higher qualiy voice calls than 3G or 2G connections, won’t be made available to partner telcos.

        • +1

VoLTE is currently only available to post-paid customers on select handsets. More details here

          100Mbps down is fast enough.

        • Is there any tangible difference between using Telstra prepaid on an iPhone 6S and using WOW Mobile now?

Seems it's just more data… iPhones don't get 4GX do they?

        • +2

@retail-life: iPhones do get 4gx well iphone6 onwards

        • +1

          @sween64:

When you've only got 5-10gig to play with, 100mbit is plenty. If you had say 200gig a month then sure, maybe 300 or 600mbit would be nice, but its really not an issue at this point in time. I've clocked 225mbit on my iphone, all well and good for bragging rights but utterly pointless in a practical setting. I'd rather take a bigger chunk of data and a slightly reduced speed, at least I get more practical use out of it from day to day then bragging about it in some forum.

        • @BargainKen:

If you had say 200gig a month then sure, maybe 300 or 600mbit would be nice, but its really not an issue at this point in time.

Exactly. Many people at terrabyte plans for a home connection on speeds a fraction of this and are fine. Myself included

      • +3

4GX is the marketing name for the 700Mhz network, testing on my POS Alcatel phone, I've disabled Band 3 and Band 28 does indeed work on woolworths mobile. At this point in time Telstra are using it only as a capacity layer by running it in low power mode. What you wont get on Telstra wholesale is access to some of their exclusive towers out in the sticks (FIFO mining towns etc), which I can live with :)

  • lucky I haven't activated it yet.thanks for the posting. Ozbargain ROCKS!

I guess TPG plan is the best for international calls ($20 - $500 worth of included calls (including international calls)

    • -1

      Tpg plans are here
      http://tpg.com.au/mobile/plans.php

Tell me how those are better than this one?

      • -1

I hope you ready my comment. I am asking about value for international calls.
TPG $20 plan gives around $550 worth of calls that can be used for international calls as well which is good value when calling countries which are not cheaper with regular calling (like UAE).
For woolworths plan, $30 gives $100 worth of International calls only. So $10 more but $450 less international calls.

        • Woolworth international rates are pretty expensive depending on which zone you want to call…
          International Zone 1 $1.00
          International Zone 2 $2.50
          International Zone 3 $5.00
          International Zone 4 $7.50
          International Zone 5 $12.00
          International Zone 6 $15.00

If your country is in zone 3 you will only get 20 minutes of international calls ($30 plan), so it does make sense to some people TPG deal can be better.
$550 "value", international flagfall $0.40, rates vary but mostly $1~4 range so yeah you can get better international minutes.

However they also charge for national calls / SMS while Woolies one is unlimited.

So if 1.5GB data is absolutely enough for you and you want more international calls, TPG plan is also an option.

  • I have tried to activate my $1 sim from previous deal for 3 days now and I get the error "The information you have entered cant be validated. Please check your details and try again" each time.
I only have 1 previous number since before and Im trying to activate new number under same account.

I have also tried with new email, medicare, passport # and different address but nothing has worked so far. Any suggestions?

    • With my $1 sim I had ID cannot be validated when I entered Medicare Card details. Then used my drivers license details which was accepted. Yet the previous month when I ported my number from Vodafone (after many years) to An Optus Sim I used the Medicare details with no problem. Maybe try your license details. I would have thought passport would have been accepted.

  • Can recharges be direct debited instead of paid maually every 30 days?

  • Wow op this must be the cheapest deal for 6gb! If you charge using Woolworth's rewards comes to $27 (excludes Tas) who can offer the same?

  • So every other month you get unlimited local calls and msgs and 3gb on Telstra for $27 if you use your everyday rewards? Better then my Vaya deal when comparing optus to telstra

    • Yes I thought it was 6gb but it's only first month. Data does roll over though.

  • Great. Thx for post. Got 10 packs from last deal.

  • I rain checked 10 of the starter packs from the $1 deal but my local ww are clueless and always say they are out of stock.

  • Does the unused data roll-over to the next month only, or can it keep carrying forward into future months?

    • From woollies website:

"Data rollover applies on any $30 or $45 recharge applied from 1 July 2016. Unused Included and Bonus Data will roll over if you apply the same or higher recharge before your credit expires. If you accrue over 15GB of data you will forfeit any data over that unit. Data rollover expires 30 June 2018."

    • Keeps rolling over if you recharge before your 30 days. Really good deal especially if you sign up on the $45 plan.

  • Can we ask for our $1000, the whole reason I bought them was to call Greece, how can they do this to me?

    • Your account doesn't switch over until your next recharge. My account is still on the old $1000 plan until 27 July.

      • Yes, but I bought multiple sims

  • Does anyone know whether you can still get 10% off with Woolworths rewards when you are doing automatic recharges?

    • @shuffle1

Does anyone know whether you can still get 10% off with Woolworths rewards when you are doing automatic recharges?

I Read on Whirlpool that it does. (only one comment)

Reading the Woolies FAQ says yes (must have your EDR card noted against your number)

So you could take a screendump of the woolies website page -in case it does not for some reason.

    • Contacted online chat to confirm (couldn't see it written on the site). EDR discount will apply on auto recharge too.

  • Can I buy a sim and port a number over?
Tpg has become rubbish value and want to Swap

    • Yes you can. You can buy a $2 or $30 prepaid sim then activate online (and port your existing number through the activation process).

  • i just wanna make this clear: A $45 recharge on a $30 sim pack only gives you 8gb

    :(

    • @ cdaddy

i just wanna make this clear: A $45 recharge on a $30 sim pack only gives you 8gb

But if people want to try out woolies mobile from Wed 6 July they get 16Gb for $33.50 ($2 sim and a discounted $45 recharge for $31.50)

you must buy the sim and the recharge at Woolworths Supermarkets (in store only) in 1 transaction -valid till COB 12 July 2016.

  • +5

I just purchased a $45 recharge and a $2 sim together and when I swiped my Woolworths reward card it came up with a WOW connect 4 offer which was another $9.45 discount on top of the 30% off recharge that came to a total of $24.05 for the $45 recharge & $2 sim

    • +2

I just did as well, bought 9 recharges which totalled to over $400. Ended up paying a bit less than $200. Stoked!

      • Now that's what I call a PROFESSIONAL! :)

How long are the recharge vouchers valid for? Do they have an expiry date?

      • did you need Woolworths reward card to qualify for the discount ??

    • do you need Woolworths reward card to qualify for the discount ??

  • Does anyone else notice the international credit ($100) is deducted after making a call to mobile or landline and they don't pick up or is it just me.

I am thinking it has to with voicemail as after 3 rings it diverts to voicemail. Anyone know how to disable voicemail?

I just checked on the CIS

    Voicemail diversion
Dial Before You Dig $0.40 + $0.90 per min

  • I'm confused.
In order to get the bonus 6GB, do you have to purchase the $30 starter pack (discounted to $20) and then purchase a recharge before the end of September for a total of $50?
Or is the starter pack considered the 'first month' and you get 6GB if you activate before the end of September?
