[STEAM] PC - BioShock Triple Pack $12.21USD ($17.02AUD) (85% Discount) (Free Remastered Upgrade Just Announced!)

1040

I have been thinking about picking this up for a while but for this prices seems like a great deal

Includes:
- BioShock
- BioShock 2
- Bioshock Infinite

The main reason im posting is because 2K have just announced a remastered bundle which includes BioShock, BioShock 2, Minerva's Den BioShock 2 DLC and Bioshock Infinite. Due September 13th with an RRP of $59.99

If you already own BioShock, BioShock 2, and/or the Minerva's Den BioShock 2 DLC on Steam, you can get a free upgrade to the remastered version. (Note Bioshock Infinite will not be remastered as its already considered current gen). One of the noticable differences in the remastered upgrade is the removal of the FPS cap

If the free remastered upgrade of Skyrim is anything to go by get this now before the price skyrockets!

I would consider these a must play for anyone who is remotely into games, at least the original one anyway. Fantastic writing, story and it's still pretty as well. Highly recommended!

    • +5

Infinite is the underdog of the series for me - some really interesting game-play mechanics and the environments really popped. Sad it was a bit too short and scripted.

    • Agreed. #1 is one of my favorite games. That atmosphere.

    • +3

I really enjoy games but I didn't really enjoy the first 2. I don't enjoy claustrophobic shooters apart from Alien: Isolation, which is one of the greatest games I've ever played.

So I would say that if you enjoy claustrophobic shooters then you would enjoy the first 2.

I really enjoyed Bioshock: Infinite however.

  • +2

Sweet! I own BSI already so hopefully the dynamic pricing makes this cheaper!

    • +2

it does, i was just missing 2, got it for $US2.71

      • +1

I got BS 1 and 2 for about $5.42 or so. Good deal.

  • Purchased…. Now to wait for my internet to be installed at home and im set… Cheers OP

  • +4

Bioshock 1: has the best atmosphere and the story is decent
Bioshock 2: has less atmosphere but a more enjoyable story and gameplay experience
Bioshock 3: has little atmosphere a more interesting story and the gameplay is perhaps the worst in the series

    • +3

In my opinion the 2nd game has a worse story, but much better gunplay.

Also the twist in the 3rd game is excellent. No spoilers here though!

      • -8

Darth Vader is Luke Skywalker's father.

        SPOILERS

      • I just remember enjoying bioshock 2 way more, story wise. B3 was really only worth it for the twist, otherwise it was a huge let down.

        • +1

Played the BSI DLCs? I thought they were brilliant, tied the whole trilogy together (well less so the second one…)

        • @cheesecactus:

nope i didn't. i've never really purchased any story dlcs. usually when i finish games there's no dlc out and i don't usually play games once i've finished them.

may get around to it eventually, i'm sure infinite would be refreshing after a long break

        • @kaneissik:

in that case I should pick up 1 & 2, I really liked Infinite, by the sound of things, 1 & 2 are even better (a bit reluctant to buy them in the past due to their age)

        • @FW190:

it's a real shame you didn't play the first two before the third. the storyline is amplified tenfold with the prior knowledge from 1&2

    • +1

I prefer 3 for gameplay, at least over the original. The first had the best story but the addition of being able to have a weapon and plasmid equipped in Bioshok 2 and Infinite took the gun play to a different level. Perhaps its because I played on the console, but given it was time consuming to swap weapons I barely bothered equipping plasmids in the original while in the midst of combat. Perhaps I'd use lightening if I could ambush enemies standing in water, but that was about it. The effective dual weapons in two or three made alternating a more dyanamic and viable option and in my view made combat more interesting.

Just to clarify, you still get the free upgrade for Bioshock 2 if you don't own Minerva's Den DLC? You just get it without the DLC?

    • Yes you do

      • Are you sure? I don't think you get Minerva's Den DLC remastered without purchasing it. Then nobody would need to buy it if they owned Bioshock 2. My interpretation is that you only get the free upgrade for the base game if that's all you've purchased. No DLC included unless previously purchased.

Also, really unusual that they announced Minerva's Den as if it was a standalone game. Noticed this on several sites now. According to steam: "This content requires the base game BioShock® 2 on Steam in order to play".

        • Sorry as in yes you do get it without DLC. You only get an upgrade of what you own

Also the reason the mention Minerva Den DLC is because its the only DLC for Bioshock 2 and Bioshock 1 doesnt have any.

        • @britta:

No problems - thanks. Now to decide if the DLC is worth getting.

        • @cheepo: heard good things about it. It's pretty cheap!

        • @britta:
I know, I know but the pile of shame is only becoming more shameful!!

        • @cheepo: Its OK, your amongst friends

  • I have a question though because this bundle doesnt have the dlc included. Will the remastered bundle has all the dlc included? so isnt it better to wait til the remastered gets released to get all the dlc. or best to spend it all now?

    • +2

      remaster includes all dlc

      reference:

Coming this Fall, BioShock: The Collection takes you back to Rapture and Columbia in 1080p. The Collection includes all single-player content from BioShock, BioShock 2, and BioShock Infinite, all single-player add-on content, the “Columbia’s Finest” pack, and Director’s Commentary: Imagining BioShock, featuring Ken Levine and Shawn Robertson.

    • The remastered bundle has a RRP for $59.99 USD ($80+ AUD)

Cheaper to get this now and added the DLC

      Minerva’s Den is $2.49 USD ($3.34AUD)
Infinate season pass $14.99 USD ($20.12AUD) <— not sure if its worth that price

      Total $17.02+$3.34+$20.12 = $40.48AUD

DLC can be found cheaper if you know where to look :-)

  • +1

The cheapest way to play Bioshock infinite DLC is still to purchase the game + season pass bundle for $17.49? I don't care much for Bioshock 1 or 2, played them multiple times already

  • coming up as $6.39 for Infinite only (already own other 2) is it worth buying? I won't play it for a long time, chances it will pop up in a humble bundle? and are there any DLC's or Complete editions I should be aware of?

    • Infinite was my favourite out of the three, highly recommended.

Yes it has some dlc, Burial at Sea - Episode 1 and episode 2 are highly recommended.

    • It was $1 not too long ago for voting in the annual Joystick awards.

      • oh yeah, I think I did that, how did they send the code out?

    • Infinite definitely wasn't my favourite of the three but for the cost of, what, two bags of chips it's easily worth it. I didn't find it as atmospheric as Bioshock/Rapture, but that'd be some pretty big shoes to fill. Fu*ked if I could understand the ending but it was an awesome game and had some magnificent visuals (Hall of Heroes for eg.).

  • +2

Slightly off topic, but in response to the price of Skyrim post Special Edition announcement, EB currently has the PC version of the Skyrim Legendary Edition for $19.98 which is certainly cheaper than what Steam is charging to 'complete your collection' now.

    • Does the game link to your steam account?

      • +2

Skyrim uses steamworks so it must be added to a steam account.

        • I bought it today, so fingers crossed it works :)

  • When you say remaster version of bio shock 1 OR 2. Does that mean I have to choose which way to go? Or is the choice made for me

    • Sorry. Removed that. Remastered version of whatever you own

  • -4

Absolutely recommended. Only downside is the occasional unnecessary gore, but well, that's its style.

    • +2

      wut

    • +1

…….Are we playing the same game?

      • They were pretty violent. That said, I'm not sure it's really all that inappropriate for the titles. I mean at a very broad level the games revolve around derelict areas that have fallen victim to rampant drug addiction, civil conflict and many of the characters are quite unsavoury. They aren't really happy children's tales.

        • There is that one part where you beat some guy's face in with a golf club. And then there's a bunch of drill stuff in the second one :O

  • If you own all 3 on steam but no DLC do you get the upgrade or do you need DLC?

    • +6

      Bioshock 1 = Bioshock 1 Remastered
      Bioshock 1 = Bioshock 2 Remastered
      Bioshock 2 Minerva's Den = Bioshock 2 Minerva's Den Remastered
Bioshock Infinate = Not to be remastered

      Each one treated separately

  • game way too scary

    • I felt the same way, before. It is you, (and me, and a few others)
It is a sign of "immersion" and not a bad thing.
As you move past it, you will find you enjoy the games far more than the average joe.

  • To avoid confusion, probably need to update the description because the bundle doesn't include Minerva's Den BioShock 2 DLC.

Even without the DLC - price is still great!

    • Updated

I am so stoked to hear that I am getting the remastered versions for free!
If you haven't played these games you really are missing out and you should buy them and play them.

I was thinking of going through the series again but I am going to wait for the remastered versions and then do it!

    • Is the same thing going to happen with the Arkham Batman games when they get remastered?

      • Not a chance. Warner Bros. Interactive wants your money….again :-)

  • +1

Sweet, because I already own Infinite, with the new way that the bundle pricing works when you own some of the games in it, I can get Bioshock 1 & 2 for $5.42US. Always wanted to play, but heard there were a few weird (or crap if you will) control schemes for Bioshock. Loved Infinite, so getting the remastered version of 1 & 2 will be awesome.

  • Thanks Op!

  • +1

    Would you kindly buy these?

  • Love the fact how PC gets the remastered versions for free.

    • I think this is most likely due to PC being able to max out specs on the current release so there really isn't that urge to repurchase. Ps4/xbone however have no option

Same can be said about Skyrim

  • so….. if you buy them now.. and let it get remastered in the future. does it come with commentary?

    • Nope

      • WHATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

  • +1

The commentary is part of the remastered bundle. Need to ask yourself if thats worth $80+ AUD

  • Thanks! Purchased. I've always wanted to play the Bioshock series. Now I've just got to wait for the remaster update! :)

  • Infinite is the better one of the lot imo. Thanks OP

  • This bundle is about $6.25 US on Nuuvem right now, but you need a VPN + a South American Paypal account verified through Entropay to purchase anything now. It is a nuisance, but the busywork only has to be done once to gain access to 3rd World pricing (usually 40 to 50% cheaper than US prices).

    • Whoa when did that become a thing? Nuuvem used to be easy to buy from.

      • It might have been the start of 2015. It was when their domain name changed from .br to .com and their site adopted a cell phone friendly / PC unfriendly design. Before that all you needed was a VPN but big publishers like Warner pressured them into making it much harder for non-Latinos to purchase from them. Basically, it was, make this change or we will refuse to supply you with keys.

They have a lot of games on sale now, like 'Scholar of the First Sin' for about $7.50 US.

  • thanks!
