Zoo victoria membership works out much cheaper, even for non-victorian resident ($90 for 12 month), if you got kids then this deal may works for them, or better yet if you manage to get Victorian address somehow then family membership can be much much cheaper.
If you have family with children, Vic have changed their terms so you can't gain reciprocal entry for children to zoos in other states. :( Was a great "loophole" while it was available. But this would still work for adults and I don't think Zoo Vic have any memberhsip joining fee either.

"For Zoos Victoria members who live in NSW, SA, QLD, NT, WA and ACT, reciprocal entry rights to zoos in any of these states apply to adult members only. Children between the ages of 4 and 15 will be charged entry and accompanying adult members must present a valid Zoos Victoria membership card along with photo ID".

…which ends up costing you a lot of money if you have a family.

I am about to purchase the family ticket. it pop out the below msg, do you receive the same msg?
Is there a way to confirm whether it is still valid for the extra 3 months, before i made payment?

Family membership and guest memberships are not affected by promo codes.
Extra months ,as part of a promo code will be automatically added when your membership pack is sent out."
