This is amazing!! Great move by Subway marketing.

  • Beware this some of the store may refusal to honor this offer, I had problem on 60 pitt street, Sydney.

    • +6

You need to be firm with them if they do that. Also, don't show or tell them you are using a voucher until you get to the till.

      • +1

I am firm but the lady in that store ask when I place my order, may be there are so many people using BOGOF on the day before me and they start refusing it. I have complaint to their HQ and awaiting for the store manage to call.

        • +1

Thats no excuse. It's a valid voucher from Subway HQ. Hopefully they follow it up with the store and ensure it doesn't happen again.

        • +3

          @nubzy:

I agreed and I don't want to argue in front of 30 people , I end up having fish and chips next door.

Will keep you post how it go with my complaint.

The official offer is for tradies… "To celebrate our Tradie customers we will be having a one day only offer available in All Subway® Restaurants, Shout a #REALTRADIE" so just in case you get rejected, you know why. But since it is about fake tradies (as long as the staff at the store have a sense of humour) then, hopefully, they will be generous enough to honour it anyway.

I've confirmed that Subway at 27 Park Street, Sydney will honour it to anyone that has a valid voucher for that store (but I'm pretty sure that this voucher is not locked in to a specific store; it is a general voucher).

      • +1

Do you mind pointing out where its only for "tradies" in the T&C

Buy any Subway Footlong® Sub and 600ml Coke Drink
and receive a free Subway Footlong® Sub of equal or lesser value.*
*Offer expires AEDT 11:59pm 22/06/16. Available at participating SUBWAY® Restaurants only. Subway Footlong® Sub must be of same or lesser value to sub purchased. Additional costs for extras. Also I only got this in my email at 2:30pm…..well done Subway

Read my quote - it's from an internal memo; so if you were to get rejected you know the reason why.

Why would someone negative vote my comment; it's not a big deal but anyway - I won't help out in the future.

        • +1

          @Hahnski:

Where does it say only tradies can use it?

How would Subway know I'm not going to give the other sub to a tradie? You argument is ridiculous.

        • @ozhunter: I also can't see how it excludes non-tradies, but that isn't really a valid argument either.

It'd be like asking how does a liquor shop know you're not going to give the alcohol you buy to a 13 year old? They don't, but it's just a process they have to follow.

I just don't see the law, or the T&Cs for that matter of this offer stating the same.

@Hahnski: The negs are probably nothing to do with you trying to "help". Your original quote doesn't state anything about excluding tradies. It says "Shout a #REALTRADIE".. it's like those offers where you have to say something random to get a free Boost.

And to be honest, you don't even seem like you want to help. The way britta asked you to point out which part of the T&Cs states it wasn't even rude. You look like you're having a bit of a whinge over nothing lol.

        • +2

          @illumination:

Yeah. You are right; I was whingeing. I was in a rush to reply and I didn't take the time to write a proper reply. Sorry to britta if I came across rude.

My initial message didn't really make it clear either.

I'll be more mindful next time (and reply when I have more time instead of rushing and offending).

        • +1

Apologies Britta - my responses are unreasonable and need more explanation.

  • +6

Maybe your boss was hinting that you should buy a sub and give him the free one?

    • +2

Or just testing out how much of a tightass his worker is…. hahaha

      • +2

I normally get subway for lunch anyway (their 2 wraps for $10 was killer)
i ended up giving him one but he gave me an extra 40 minute break so seems like it was worth it lol

        • Ahh, the classic subway bribe, I've got to try it on my boss :P

  • Sweet no expiry

    Edit: Damn

    • +1

haha mate i think it's today only

      • +1

        Sorry bro. I can't read

  • -4

This is a duplicate of this deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/253868
Also, this deal is not national, not qld though.

    • No it's not? That one is for $7 subs

      • Sorry, too many subway deals. This isn't national though.

    • +1

I'd like to see how you define duplicate.. the only duplication I see is the store name.

      • +2

        You duplicated my comment

  • +1

Good deal, but the lack of detail on the screenshot does concern me a little bit. I wouldn't blame someone at Subway for looking at it and thinking, "uhh… let me check with my manager."

Not that it doesn't look legit, but there's no expiry date and it doesn't have a barcode to scan, so not sure what you mean by "automatically" made meatball free (unless you're talking about just a default BOGOF option on the system)

    • +1

Yeah i don't know how my boss got it, but it looked like the store was expecting this today
Do subway coupons normally have barcodes on them?
i think you're right they press the buy one get one free promo in their system which automatically makes the cheaper one free

      • NO barcodes No code for them to enter, no button to press when redeem,.

Only have time limited and shop name.

You can use the same account on different phones on your friend family to get the same deal before it expiry.

This is where the confusion coming from.

      • Nah I don't think Subway coupons normally have barcodes, but I just meant in relation to you saying "automatically deducted"

        • +1

sorry about the confusion, i got rid of the word automatically from the description.
On the receipt it just shows meatballs at $0

        • @KE: All good man! Thanks for posting.

Confirmed with Lyn at head office customer service ph 1800 630 355 this offer is:
    National
    At the stores discretion
    Today only
Australian Law prevents a franchisor from enforcing specials or pricing.

    • So go to a subway where you have other options of places to eat in case they refuse 😁

  • +2

FYI: Just tried this at the Melbourne Elizabeth St store (near Collins St) and they accepted it (first person said no but the head guy said yes).

  • +7

Offer is now listed on their website:
    https://www.subway.com.au/realtradie

Doesn't list which stores are participating - all you can do is take in the coupon and see if they'll honour it.

    • You the real MVP

    • Showed them the link in Westfield and they accepted it on the spot no hassle, thanks.

  • T&Cs - Its Nationwide

Got rejected at Subway Balwyn because I wasn't a tradie when the worker asked her boss, a bit jobist I reckon there.

Doesn't list it in the terms and conditions that it's only for tradies, just that it's a Tradies Appreciation Week.

    • +1

Subway Facebook page has a comment saying the deal is for everyone, not just tradies.

      • Where?

        • +1

It was the top comment when I checked ~1 hour ago, posted by Subway Australia

  • +1

Gladly accepted at Beverly Hills cheers. Did have to check with manager though I had a print out. This store has always been very good with promos

  • Promo worked in Ingleburn NSW. The girl had to ask her supervisor and she ok it.

  • Accepted at the Subway near Newmarket (VIC).
The manager was a bit reluctant though.

  • Harbor Side checked with HQ and all good.

  • Accepted @ the Subway in Unley Shopping Centre (SA). No issues at all.

If only i saw this earlier before buying mine ! ! !

  • Lots of confirmation coming through from people now.. positive from me :)

  • +2

Confirmed working at Blackburn (Melbourne), Victoria

  • just received this via email at 1.45pm no wonder no one knows about this apart from ozbargainers !

  • just used in Adelaide…Got 2 at price of 1

  • My 'mate' went hungry. No love at Elizabeth St, Melbourne.

  • +1

"At the stores discretion" "Available at participating SUBWAY® Restaurants only."

    No deal.
Oh here's a deal people, but it all depends on how good a mood the worker is as to whether they accept it or not.
    Not wasting my time.

Good deal if you can get them to honour it though :)

  • Can confirm worked at Subway O'Connor in WA.

  • This is the normal price on the back of Coles shopadockets… nothing new… available 365 days year

  • +3

it's stupid that it's at store discretion. why bother, what if all store says no. What would be the point to the promo?
Got refused at the exhibition Lonsdale store, but their manger is always a dick. Can't be bother walk around the city trying to find one that'll say yes. Easier to use my uber credit for lunch instead and have it delivered for free.

    • Yes, makes you wonder what it's Really all about, gathering valuable statistics Or
Did "Headoffice have a Mac attack over something?"
And forgot to survey franchises for participation.
we pesants have little say, "let them eat cake".

  • No questions asked in Warana, QLD. Cheers!

  • What do they charge for bottle of coke?

    • $3.50 I believe

    • +1

      $3.95 for a 600mL here in WA.

  • Probably a bit late, but Subway Southlands (WA), no problems at all :)
