Saw Marques Brownlee review this. It's an interesting concept but for $400 is not worth it as to make the most you need a high data plan.

    Dumb idea implemented poorly.

I wonder if CM crashes as much on this device as it does on others?

  • Pros

    Decent screen
    Cute design
    Unusual cloud features

    Cons

    Mediocre battery life
    Buggy software and camera
    Cloud features don't feel essential

Not really a bargain. Suggest moving to forums.

    • Not really a bargain. Suggest moving to forums.

It's $100 off right now though!

      • $100 off their already rip-off price. Originally it sold to the Indian market at the lower rate, but I'd say due to lack of interest and middling reviews, they decided to lower their price so that it's in line with the indian market.

Snapdragon 808, fingerprint sensor, Band 28 support and also dual front speakers.. Way better phone than this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/253428 which had 154 pluses.

This thing should fly out of shelves.

      • You're comparing a well known brand to an unknown one. Nice try!!

        • +4

Yes a well known brand which is known for crappy support, laggy software and the S5 so old it won't receive further updates. Hard to be worst than that. This has official cyanogen support so its already winning on the specs and software front.

For another similar phone the nexus 5x https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/246469
Way worse specs and regareded as value from the ozbargain community.

I'll get this over those phones any day. At least you're buying from a company that is actually trying to innovate and produce unique designs. Rather than rehash the same phones every year with slightly better specs.

        • @ko0l: What about warranty? You can take a Samsung phone to a Samsung store and get a replacement/repair on the spot

        • @marchi: A samsung store? A quick google showed none in sydney. The last time I had my s5 repaired under warranty about two years ago. I had to post it to fonebiz and wait about 2 months before I received my phone back.

        • @ko0l: They are everywhere dude, including Sydney, I took my Note 3 in with my JB receipt and they gave me a new one when I had a boot loop issue

Considering you can't even google a Samsung Sydeny store it does not surprise me you posted your phone and waited 2 months…

No one would / should pick this over a Nexus 5x. That pretty much sums it up.

    • +1

Why? there is no difference between the phones and Robin is cheaper than 5x. Software wise 5X is better but CM makes that a moot point for geeks.

      • +2

        No it's not.

Nexus 5x can be found at the $350 mark every time eBay has a sale. Beyond the spec sheet, you will also find the 5x has a much better camera overall and there is no contest for official/community support either.

The Nexus line up is a legitimate all around contender this year. I dare anyone to find a better phone for $350 at this moment. If you still think nexus is for geeks only then you are living in 2014.

This phone needs to be $299 aud before any comparison could be drawn.

        • After using a phone with 3GB Ram i can't go back to the 5x with 2gb and I don't care about the camera so for my use case it's no context I'd pick the Robin every time!

        • @sylon: that doesn't even make sense. You traded $50, a lot of camera quality and long term support for an extra gig of ram. Maybe for you but most people wouldn't make such decision.

This is just another niche market phone like the one with a rotatable rear cam. As I said, make this $280 or so and it will give xiaomi a run for the money.

        • @sylon: Ram isn't the only thing that affects performance so I don't agree with your comment.

  • Rubbish phone too expensive

  • looks good. very similar to sony style phones, fingerprints the same too it seems.

  • That cloud-based app system is clunky according to most reviews
