Xbox One 500GB with Halo 5 + One Other Game for $329 Delivered @ MS Store (Eg. Rise of The Tomb Raider) PLUS Another Game

870

The Big W deal for a $299 Xbox is a spectacular price but I believe has sold out in all/most stores across the country.

This deal seems to be the cheapest you can actually get your hands on at the moment, and because it's at the Microsoft online store, at least you know it'll be in stock.

$329 gets you a console, a controller, a copy of Halo 5, and one of four games (Rise of the Tomb Raider, Forza, 6, Gears of War UE, Rare Replay).

There are better overall packages out there if you want the games, such as:
$379 for a 1TB console, Halo 5, Quantum Break https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/253081
$478 for a 1TB console and a stack of great games https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/253065

But if you're on a budget then this deal is hopefully of value to someone.

UPDATE: Thanks to Wade for pointing out that in addition to those four games you also get your choice of one of the following:
Your choice of:
* Fallout 4
* Star Wars Battlefront
* Tom Clancy's The Divisoon
* Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Siege
* Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2
* Call Of Duty: Black Ops III
* Assassin's Creed Syndicate Gold Edition
* LEGO Marvel's Avenger
* Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
* Far Cry 4 Complete Edition
* Destiny: The Taken King Legendary Edition
* Dishonored: Definitive Edition
* Mad Max
* LEGO Jurassic World
* Just Dance 2016
* Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition Starter Pack
* Skylanders SuperChargers Starter Pack
* Grand Theft Auto V
* Batman: Arkham Knight
* Rory Mcllroy PGA Tour

    Dirt cheap for what you're getting, and from an official source no less.

    Surely this is a clearout sale readying for the Xbox One S?

    • +4

      Most likely yeah, I'll be holding off till the Scorpio next year before I am inclined to get another. Already shifted to the Elite from the launch model, the S is little pointless given the already announced successor IMO.

      • +2

        the S is little pointless given the already announced successor IMO.

        It's for new buyers, not upgraders. The S versions aren't meant to be exciting. Just smaller and cheaper to manufacture.

        I'm surprised it got any new features at all.

        • +2

          4k bluray ?

        • +1

          @ubcool:
          And 4K upscaling, and HDR, and 4K streaming (i assume).

          With no price increase, it seems like a good deal if you have a 4K HDR TV.

        • I know it's for new buyers, but if you announce there will be a genuine reason to get a better one in a year, it's really dead in the water IMO.

        • +1

          @scuderiarmani: might appeal to the more casual gamer whos more in to movies and to be honest the graphic improvements between console generations are getting smaller and smaller now.

        • +1

          @scuderiarmani: there's a good chance next years will cost more. Considering its supposed to be forwards and backwards compatible, they may sell Scorpio and the One S side by side for some time, with the One S being a cheaper option and the Scorpio the high end choice. Actually I'd be surprised if they don't sell both of them in this fashion for a few years, especially if games work across both.

          People still but the 360 so it's not that dead in the water. For people getting a new TV it's also probably the best option for 4K Bluray support.

        • @scuderiarmani: I think it's a great upgrade. Sell the old X1 and get this one when on the cheap. Save space, no internal power brick to worry about, 40% smaller, much needed GB increase and supports streaming 4K, what's not to like considering the new console would cost about $600+, it's a smart release.

        • @justmiike:
          You don't know what the console will cost yet. A better GB increase is simply adding an external storage, which all Gold Members should have by now given Games with Gold. 4K streaming is a bit niche now anyway, in 12 months when the new one is announced it's likely to be a little closer to normal, mind you I wouldn't hold my breath for a lot of 4K content even in 12 months.

          And the new one, has a far more useful feature, 4k gaming. While the AAA games likely won't push it, I'm sure something will.

  • Bargain..

    Would rather get that than wait for the One S and pay more for it

    • +4

      Would rather wait for the One S and pay more for it…

      • 4k Netflix :)

        • +3

          What kinda of 4K TV doesnt have a native app for Netflex anyway?

        • @britta: true but 4k bluray ?

        • +1

          @ubcool: who owns actual physical media nowadays?

        • +3

          Australian Broadband

        • +3

          @RI4V4N: People who appreciate quality and/or don't have access to enough Mbps.
          Oh, and people who want to actually own something rather than what amounts to a lease which can be revoked at the drop of a hat.

        • +3

          @RI4V4N:

          Bluray quality shits all over netflix, in both audio and video.

          Civic Video still has $1 Tuesdays. I can watch a movie for $1, on better visuals than my local cinema.

        • @McFly:
          Haha "lease" lol. Íf it's on your computer it isn't leased. It won't dissapear if you back it up. Using the itunes or google play store for movies is about as much of a pleb move as buying blu-rays.

        • @StickMan:
          Who said anything about netflix. Regardless I think thats untrue, netflix can stream in 4k.

        • +1

          @RI4V4N:
          There's more to video quality than resolution. Bandwidth is major player here, which Netflix can't compete with. For comparison: Netflix recommends 25Mbps for 4K streaming. Bluray 1080p is max 40Mbps, while 4K will be >108Mbps.

          Neither can it compete with uncompressed linear PCM 8 channel audio, which maxes out at 27Mbps on bluray.

          And yes, there is a visible/audible difference of Netflix vs bluray even on 1080p content currently.

        • @RI4V4N: But if your XBL/ PSN account ever gets banned for whatever reason (I've heard of some pretty odd or simple and unnecessary reasons to do so), you lose all games and purchases on the one account without refund. Had this happen to a friend and he lost like $500 worth of games.

        • @MrSammyMcG:

          What did the friend do to get a ban? (and lose the games)

        • @StickMan:
          Again, was just pointing that out with netflix, was not talking about streaming.

        • @RI4V4N:

          Íf it's on your computer it isn't leased

          … and therefore (generally) not owned either.

        • @StickMan:

          I watch movies on a crappy 720p projector and have fast bigpond cable, but blu-rays still look miles better than netflix.

        • @silverrat23: He lost the password to his account and called customer service to ask them to reset it and they banned him because it said he was born in 1927 when he wasnt.

  • The Big W deal for a $299 Xbox is a spectacular price but I believe has sold out in all/most stores across the country.

    Still Available Big W Browns Plains QLD, Just down there this morning and they had 10 left.

    • +1

      Still plenty at Big W Katoomba N.S.W also when I left today.

    This actually looks to give you actually 3 games from what I can see?

    Halo 5
    Free choice of one of 28 different games (Fallout 4, The Division, etc)
    Choice of Rise of the Tomb Raider, Forza, 6, Gears of War UE, Rare Replay

    Try and add one to cart.

    Wade

    • +1

      Yep looks like you actually get 3 games.
      You get:
      Halo
      Free download
      Free choice of one of the 28 games.
      Good deal!

    • How to get the third one free?

    • Try to place an order, not sure why I can only see 8 different games of choices..

      • Some games were sold out when I ordered mine

  • For anyone looking at multiplayer gaming, just a heads up that the 500G consoles don't come with a headset anymore.

    So just need to factor that (relatively small) cost into all this. I believe 1TB models come with one.

    • iPhone/Mobile headsets work for this also (as long as the controller is one of the new ones with the 3.5mm jack, which I believe it is)

      • will Xbox 360 headset work with one?

        • +1

          no. it's a different input (2.5mm vs 3.5mm)

        • +1

          @beaver2233: note that you can buy converters on eBay cheap.

      What games would you pick? I like Rise of the Tomb Raider and maybe Grant Theft Auto V.

    • Why i can see only 8…instead of 28..

  • ermehgerd when are they going to put the elite controller on sale again

  • Worth mentioning that JB-HIFI are selling the Halo 5 Ltd edition 1tb console bundle for $389 but that price was advertised in store. I bought it yesterday from Doncaster in VIC.

    I figure considering the new one is coming out, at least this one might retain more value being a limited edition.

    • Keep the box & paperwork/receipt that's the only way your gonna a decent chunk back

  • Please help advicing me regarding Kinect for Xbox 1

    I purchased Xbox1 500GB from BigW deal ($299).

    When i was looking to buy Kinect, its costing $160 or over.

    In mocrosoft store, Xbox1 500gb with Kinect and 3 games is selling for $399. Which is $100 more than BIG W. But to buy a kinect its costing more than $100.

    I'm thinking to return my purchase from BigW and buy from MS store. Please shed your thoughts

    • +1

      From what I heard, Kinect has been abandoned by most game developers. After initial couple of good games, no good games have come on it. Think again if you really need Kintect. If you do then Microsoft deal looks much better than Bigw

      • Correct. Kinect WAS mandatory, now it's not. Without Kinect, games can harness more of the console's power. Xbone is underpowered as-is, so no AAA game will add in cool Kinect features.

        And since it's not mandatory, the install base is too small for standalone Kinect titles to be developed.

        tl;dr Kinect v2 is dead.

  • can anyone advise me on which is the best value game out of 28 games? thanks

    • +2

      None. They're all dropping in price fairly quickly now, but some are dropping slower than others - such as metal gear solid v and gta v.

      • thanks. i was going to buy MGS5 for PS4 but i think this is a god value

  • finally ordered one. does any one know if you could pick any game from 4 games?
    i meant how to pick one?

    • I went through the checkout process right up to the payment screen and didn't see the option to select 1 of the 4 games (e.g. Tomb Raider).

    • +3

      You get a code in the box and you redeem the code on the Xbox website as far as I know.

  • Don't forget Cashrewards.

  • note that only 8 of those games are still available to choose as your 3rd game.
    may change tho.
    alsoforza was temp unavailable when i went to pick my 1/4 games from the card

    • poor form from Microsoft, they don't seem to have enough license in stock

  • Anyone else not get the controller with the 3.5mm jack?

    • Just got mine and yeah mine's the older controller without the 3.5mm jack. I don't really care, but I guess beware if you do!

  • Anyone who ordered Metal Gear Solid Phantom Pain not get the Day one edition? I didn't receive the day one Edition :(

  • Just thought I'd follow up in case anybody's interested.

    I called up the MS store customer service to ask about getting the old controller replaced with a new one with the 3.5mm jack (turns out I do care :P), and they sent me a replacement for free and didn't even require me to return the old one, so I guess that worked out well!
