WW has Philips LED globes on sale from $5.59 https://www.woolworths.com.au/Shop/Search/Specials?searchTer…
Bunnings are getting rid off discontinued lines of globes, LEDs for very cheap if you come cross some, got some 1300LM LEDs for $3.00
    also masters $5.00 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/237297

But for a decent output, the 10 watt ones are $15+ and that's the sale price at WW.

  • I picked up 5w LED 4pk at Bunnings for $5 and was just as bright as the 50w they replaced, they also had 6pk for $10

That would require that the $1.25 bulbs broke the laws of physics.

You need 10W to even get close to the output of the absolute lowest cheapest crappiest 12V 50W Halogen (800 Lumens or so).

Don't confuse "brightness" (how intense something is when you look at it) with Lumens (light output).

      • LEDs generally shoot light in the one direction so they can also seem darker in a room for an equivalent lumens output. It's got something to do with the way our brains interpret light (horizontally) and the LED shoots up and down. You need a well-made LED bulb to overcome this.

      • I have a double light motion light, so I put on in next to the 50w and I couldnt see any less in brightness, if anything probably felt brighter and still got the same range on the green area. So was good for my needs

  • I found these Philips 7w MR16 dimmable to be great. Ebay seller has a 10 pack for $99, which equates to $10 a bulb. They are brighter than the 5w advertised at Woolies.
