    What's the prices like?

    • +1

Depends on the location but a burger is about $25~; they can be real hit and miss. 2 for 1 though is certainly worthy it.

    • You can find menus for all the states on the bottom of this page:

Times dictated within the restaurant? What does that mean?

    • I agree with this.

Anyone have any insight for Sydney?

  • So I'm guessing you have to get the same type of item. Ie. You can't buy ribs and then get a burger free?

    • +2

"the cheapest meal(s) will be deducted from the bill."

So should be able to order different dishes.

  • +1

How can we use the voucher ?
Do we have to print or showing our iphone will be ok to redeem ?
Also, do we have to tell them about this voucher before we order ?
    Thanks

Haven't tried Friday's in Australia so will give this a go in conjunction with the AMEX offer.

TGIs USED to be good but then they changed the menu and made it smaller and jacked the prices up twice. The Jack Daniels range of food is the only worthwhile food to have there. The rest is very bland and lacklustre. The burgers used to be great but now they're smaller, more expensive, and full of filler instead of pure beef patties. Don't get the burgers (except the chicken burger), you'll regret it. The pulled pork is very crap. The KFC pulled pork is better and that's saying something. All the Jack Daniels stuff though. Derishus. Recommend the ribs, steak, and the pork cutlet. Never tried the salmon because its fish and pork and beef beat fish any day.

    • I can tell you the burgers haven't gotten smaller (the buns did but that's a different story) and the burgers haven't changed. If there's any beef filler (which I highly doubt) there is the same about there's always been.

      • +1

I thought the bun is part of the burger. Smaller bun generally means a smaller burger.

        • +1

The word burger refers the meat "patty". They haven't changed.

Much like how many moons ago Maccas made quarter pounder buns smaller but kept everything else the same to improve the bread to meat ratio yet everyone claims the whole thing is smaller.

        • +2

          @tp0:
Pretty sure "burger" encompasses the bun and the patty and veggies.

Wouldn't be surprised if what maccas said was an excuse to down size their burgers rather than simply saying outright they want to save costs.

If the bun had become smaller in diameter then there must be a reduction in patty unless the patty became thicker, which I highly doubt.

        • @tikei: The bun diameter used to be slightly bigger than the burger now it's the same (or slightly smaller, to be honest I haven't pulled a ruler out).

Although it would seem amongst Australians burger (or hamburger) refers to the entire sandwich the correct definition refers to the patty itself, or as the Oxford calls it "A flat round cake of minced beef".

        • +3

          @tp0:

You yourself are calling the meat the patty. The patty + bun + salad/sauces = burger.

  • Good deal. Could potentially can get 4 main meals with drinks for ~$70 bucks if you combine with amex offer. e.g. 4 jack daniels ribs, and 4 drinks for 100 bucks minus the $30 amex statement credit.

    • Also gotta allow for a mandatory bevy purchase

      • +6

yeah $5.65 each for unlimited soft drink or juice. Even with the more expensive main e.g. jack daniel ribs at 42 bucks each. Comes to $76.60 in total ($19.18 each) after the amex credit. And if you go with 3 mates who pay for their share, not knowing about the amex credit, you'll make a small profit on top of your meal. :P

        • +1

          we think alike dude ;)

  • 2-4-1 steaks/burgers/ribs and the cheapest meal(s) will be deducted from the bill

What if I ordered say two steaks and a pasta? Would the second steak be free (2-4-1) or the pasta (the cheapest meal)?

Was there tonight (Marion, SA) and saw no sign of this deal

    • +1

You should have just mentioned and asked for it.

  • +1

    Anyone redeemed this deal yet?

  • +1

Works at Marion (SA) only for steak, ribs & burgers (inc chicken burgers)

  • +3

Used it at Forest Hill (VIC). No sign of promotion, asked the staff and OK to use.
Somehow thought steak = grill items, so tried to order the pork cutlet but was told can only order steak steak. lol

  • anyone got gift cards?

  • +2

Redeemed at Fountain Gate. Asked where I got the deal - facebook. Spend $87 and saved $87 :-) Great deal.

"One complimentary MAIN COURSE when another MAIN COURSE of equal or greater value is purchased" up to $40 value.

Rang Sydney Macquarie one, available anytime 7 days. Only thing is cannot book 6-8pm everyday so you just walk in and tell the waiter about the offer.

    thanks.

Went to Jam Factory on a moderately busy night. Food was great, and 2f1 was accepted without question- we had the burgers. Their 'providence' beer is also not bad.

Tried this deal out last Saturday.
It seems like I might have been the first person as they haven't seen it before.
Was told I need to buy 4 drinks to redeem 2 meals.
Bought ribs (got another one free) and a steak (got burger free).
With 4 drinks (around $8 each) the bill was around $120 before the AMEX $30 cashback.
Ribs - Ok. Had both their BBQ and Jack Daniel's version.
Steak - Ok. Scotch fillet cooked to medium and was juicy but was nothing exceptional.
Burger - Let down. Normally at $25, it was definitely nowhere near as good as Burger Project or Grill's just opposite Friday's in the complex considering a normal burger at these joints are around half the price.

    • I went last Saturday and only had to buy a Coke to redeem one meal.

  • Went on Friday, first thing I enquired was this promo and they were either saying you cannot have it between 6pm-8pm because its our busy time and we cannot provide this promo, and second time (call), we have limited for this promotion within this time (we wanted to book at 6.30).
Then when we go in, we ordered everything, food was delicious (ribs!!!) but when checkout came, boy server gave us full bill, I mentioned the promo again and he told me you should of said it earlier because there is a limit. I asked what limit? And he just said don't worry I'll put it in for this time only.
    Did I miss something?

    • which TGI is this…you should report them. Hate it when people don't want to do a promo and find excuses!

      • Macquarie (north Ryde) one in sydney

      • +1

Technically they aren't doing anything wrong by their t&c's.

        is valid for redemption Monday to Sunday at the times dictated within the Restaurant;
        is subject to availability;

Annoying yes, but not sure what you have to report?

  • Went to TGIF for the first time yesterday, and surprised it was full house by 7pm and few people are waiting/sitting in the bar to get a table.
Tried the ribs (pork and Jack Daniel's) and it was OK.

PS: IMO, the ribs at Hurricane's is much better.

    • You can't compare the ribs at Friday's to the ones at Hurricanes. Hurricanes are in another league. I try to go there when I'm in Sydney.

    • i agree, quite disappointed with TGIF ribs. Dry and lukewarm. The coleslaw was measly.
      Can't beat Hurricanes.

    • Never tried Hurricane's. Reminds me of 'Piston' Hurricane :)
