  • Is there a AU link please ?

Sorry, am currently in the States so was unable to check Australian iTunes. Have updated deal.

I grabbed both the Home and Pro edition this morning, but iTunes said they were not available on the Australian Store.

    • You just need to make a new account -> click purchase and make new account with a spare email
Stick in a fake US address (I just used a hotel) and don't add payment details
      You're good to go!

      • You probably replied to the wrong post. I already grabbed both - via my US account, but I usually preferred the Australian store.

  • How many medico are in here?

A manual only suited for a professional

      JV?

    • or your run of the mill hypercondriac

  • Great resource.
Any medical professional or allied health worker will find them useful. Not all that is discussed is 100% translated to the Australian approach but still valuable.
If anyone has a way to get the offer in aus, please post the method.

    • I haven't tried this, due to the following:
"iTunes generally copes quite well with content acquired via different accounts — the biggest nuisance is that you’ll have to sign in and out of each account to view the relevant content or use the relevant apps. If you want to keep the process completely separated, you can set up a second user account on your PC and use that for accessing your US iTunes installation, but that’s probably overkill."

      This might help others though!

You don't have to sign in and out to use the apps, that's rubbish.

I have US and AU apps sitting side by side perfectly. You simply need to punch in the US password if there is an update.

        • Not to use the apps, but to see the apps and other media in the "purchased" list.

  • So, does it take using a VPN to appear in USA…? Or what?

    • Google - How to set up a USA itunes account?
Then set up a USA itunes account.
Log out of the Australian itunes account then log in to the USA account and download.
Then log out of USA account and log back in to Australian account

  • Thanks mate

  • Great find! Thanks Undercut..

Good deal (considering free), however plenty of free apps available in the Australian market that are also suitable (for the occasional professional who doesn't have a US account).

    Medscape: https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/medscape/id321367289?mt=8
    - general resources, that covers a bit of everything.
    RCH Clinical Guidelines: https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/rch-clinical-guidelines/id95…
    - Paediatrics and child health
    MDCalc: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/apple-store/id1001640662?mt=…
    - Plenty of calculator apps out there, this is the one that I like.
    AO Surgery Reference: https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/ao-surgery-reference/id40396…
    - Orthopaediac Surgical Reference.
    - Based off American Guidelines, but does provide some decision making tools.
    - Requires online access to be truly useful
    NSW Trauma: https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/nsw-trauma/id1030612905?mt=8
    - best thing about this is the burns calculator.
    Opioid Calculator from ANZCA: https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/opioid-calculator/id10392198…
    - Perfect for residents, GPs, Pallcare or the druggie or wishes to convert their opioids to and from PO to S/C to Transdermal to IV. A rectal option is also provided.

      Also iMIMs:
      https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/imims-australia/id408789456?…

The enterprise password can be gotten from the Clinicians Health Channel

A note about AO Surgery Reference - as it is based off American guidelines, the classifications of the fractures and treatments are not necessarily the same used in Australia.

This is awesome. Working as a part time after hours doc whilst doing ed Locum pho stints so these are very handy alongside my uptodate sub (free from my previous hospital, just get my wife to log me in once in a while since she still works there and that renews the license).

      Thanks!

      • Good news if you kept your ciap account, uptodate being added to it from 1st july, will only require you to keep ciap password renewed annually for 1 year access

  • This should help bolster my armchair physician skillset. Good find OP!

  • I wish they had it on AU store, would be really useful at work

    • You can just set up an US account :P

        Too much effort :D

        • It's not that hard and that time consuming lol :D

Merck manual is amazing from a health care professional point of view.

Shame it's not Australia. And android. Dammit.

  • I tried setup a US itunes account but its asking for credit card information; is there a way around it?

  • thanks for post.
