Will it connect to the 5ghz frequency on my new triband wifi router?
Also, can someone recommend a nice protector for my mirror when I throw this phone at it?

    • +1

If not then definietely works with 4.99ghz

  • if i buy 2 and smash them together, am i becoming the ISIS?

    • +5

Not funny, Someone dropping one of these caused the Fukushima disaster.

      • no way i gonna drop my mum like dat.

    • Same effect as the LHC - Large Hadron Collider.
Better be careful, may create a black hole and destory the earth.

  • Does this phone run the latest version of android? Lol 😜

    • +1

      You're in luck - no :-)

    • +1

No need for Android or Apple OS crap for these phones. When phones actually functioned as a phone.

  • +11

This post will have the highest positive vote to actual sales ratio in Ozbargain history.

  • I had to save quite long for these when I was in high school….

  • +1

    Doesn't support Band 28? Classic Chinese phone…

  • -4

Would genuinely rather use this than a windows phone tbh

  • Gangsters in the 90s hongkong movies used the retro nokia phones to beat each other up…!

    • thats so gansta! …

Anyone know where I can get a belt buck holder to show this baby off.

    • I am pretty sure that I found a brand new one in my box of "superseded phone stuff that will be worth a fortune to collectors one day"

  • Whats battery life like ?

  • +2

Weapons are not allowed to be posted on OzB

    • Actually they are.

  • -5

Will you people stop upvoting this piece of ancient history!!!

And on top of that 2G will be gone soon and this phone won't be usable anyway.

Only funny side to it would be if you gave one to your teenage kids when they break their phone :p

  • +1

Ahhh the days before os updates

  • Terrible Battery life
Talk time is heaps less than a smart phone - eg sony z5 compact 11.5 hours vs nokia 2.5h
Stand by is is worse - sony 21.7 days (520 hours), nokia 55-210 hours

    • Marketing crap creating false numbers on the smartphones.

I have had a nokia and a galaxy (not sony) next to each other on standby.

Nokia 2 weeks. Galaxy 2.5 days. That's leaving them 100% untouched and 10cm away from each other.

Particularly, once a smartphone is hunting for a network, battery dies quickly. This happens more often than you realise.

  • 7.25% cashback from cashrewards!!

  • Keep this phone away from kids.

They'll think it's one of those candy phones and rip it to pieces.

Would be great if everyone who gave this a positive vote had to use this phone for a week. Bunch of muppets.

    • We need a deal on Kleenex for you.

      • So FabMan, would you actually use this phone over your current?

        • All I could read was 'waaaaah'.

You know, I and many people have liked deals on OzBargain they have no intention of buying?

        • @FabMan: I'm not talking about buying, i'm talking about if I gave you this for free, would you use it instead of your current phone. Why don't you answer the question?

  • My newest gaming platform purchase!

  • +10

I ordered one of these about a year ago for the same price from aliexpress. it came faulty and didnt even work.

    • I'm not sure what you use it for. They are meant to be used as a trade tool or a weapon. Using it to make calls is a big no

      • true next time my boat anchor breaks, ill keep this as a spare!

        • -2

Why did you neg the deal!??!?! :o

        • +2

@NickFritz: for the reason i said?

  • +1

I've still got a Nokia 3xxx stashed away. IIRC it has the ringtone composer feature too.
None of that queer polyphonics business. Nossir.

    • I had a Nokia 2100 which had the Ringtone composer. It was fun looking up tones and then inputting the specific order. So many Final Fantasy tones!

  • +5
    1. Keep this phone as spare in the glove compartment. You can use it to block the car tyre to prevent roll-back on a steep slope.
    2. Leave this phone on the seat or in full view, no one will steal it. Or for that matter, on the supermarket trolley. Or the gym. Or just about everywhere.
    3. If kids lose their smartphones, or they are overusing their quota, they will be using this phone. It will teach them to care for their belongings plus control their usage.
    4. And use it everywhere with pride - because no one will have your ringtone.
    5. Your kids will never want to borrow your phone to play games or Facebook.
    • 3 is fake one it will teach them that phones are indestructible.

  • Glass protector saves your screen, this phone protects you from bullets.

NEED a 5XXX series so i can use it in my W220 S320 S-Class Benz, all wired up by Benz for that.

  • +1

My farivote Nokia is 8310, a beautiful classic small phone, and still looks like brand new and working perfectly :)

    • The 8XXX phones are all so beautiful. I still have my 8210 and 8250 with the different back plates.

    • 'farivote'… looks like your 8310 didn't come with a spell checker :-)

Still have an 8110 somewhere… Saving it for when I finally get disconnected from the machine hive.

  • +1

Ahh the jv phone of choice, he probably still hasn't worked out how to use it either.

  • +1

Can anyone recommend some good apps for this handset.

  • Had i not lost my 3310. I would likely still be using it.

    • Try the 'find my phone' feature

  • Still considering a 5110/6110 for the car as it has the cradle for it, not that I expect it to actually function but why not. Hell my first mobile was a 5110 in late '90s so why not!

  • +2

Druggie phone? not trackable or hackable like smart phones these days

  • +2

Much preferred the 3210. More of a sleek design.

  • Most people here only like writing comments and are not actually buyers. There is a chinese terminology for that: "bo kang tauw".

    • Translates to (profanity) tyre kickers?

    • Or in your case
      All soup and no fish

I believe in some dialects it means "A Whales V agina".

  • Looks like it was defeated by Cola - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNF48rEyY24

Warning: don't watch if you can't bear to see the death of a 3310

  • Ah the good old days …. Snake!!!

  • It's posts like this that should show tech companies that there IS a market for feature phones.
I know there are some around in other countries, but we are pretty dry here in Australia.
I did hear the moto razer may be coming back since lenovo(?) bought them out.

  • Less than 3gb RAM… No deal… :D

  • My friend birthday is coming up. He will appreciate this phone. This phone can call, play snake, use as weapon, indestructible and waterproof!

By the way, ALiexpress has 7.25% cashback from cashrewards!

  • 519 positives and I wonder if anyone will actually use it even for the games?

    • if anyone actually bought this…

  • As much as I loved this phone. But I don't think it deserves over 500+. Or is it because there are 80s and before ozbargainers?

  • well, so far 38 of the the recent 50ish orders for this phone have been from Australia.

  • Phone is fine

  • Hail the king of all phones!

  • i have to add - this was my fav phone back in the day.. charger used to always break… the phone battery was pretty inconsistent but the phone was just cool.. "bond-eske"

Apparently this is the chipboard behind this phone. Sometimes it is staggering to think how quickly technology advances. Other times it is depressing to think how this innovation is driven pretty much solely by consumer demand for shiny new apps!!

  • Phone for museum

  • I hear those hydraulic press videos are quite popular. Someone should put this through one.

      RIP Hydraulic Press

is this some sort of annual survey to see what % of OzBargainers have a sense of humor?

  • On rare occassions this device can also tell you which suburb you're currently in, with variable reliability.

This feature can also be found in today's smartphones by enabling cell tower SMS broadcast messages.

    • That doesn't work on modern smartphones because 3G uses multiple tower connections simultaneously at times…

On 2G it can show you the name of the tower it's currently connected to…

      • Using multiple towers makes triangulation possible, which is much more accurate for positioning than just saying the name of one tower.

        • What you describe is used in A-GPS

  • Buy this this..keep it for couple of years and call a auction to get vintage price for this phone

  • +2

Should I get this or the latest iphone?

    • definitely this! how can you compare it to an iphone?!

  • I bought one of these last time they had a sale for $10 off AliExpress. It stopped working after 3 days. I actually wanted to use it as my primary phone for a week to stop relying on my phone S6 so much (scrolling for no reason was a big one). Unfortunately, the speaker stopped working after 2 days and the reception stopped working after 3 :( Now I just use it as a paperweight.

  • Is this phone N-Gage compatible?

  • Be careful guy, Refurbished may mean this is a fake nokia phone.

  • -2

Complete junk, but retro cool at he same time.

  • +5

who Neg it? should be kicked from OZbargain… so rude.

    lol

  • bought! thanks OP, hope it works….

  • lmfao ha, I had one of these when I was little :P snakey snakey games

  • Yay…My antiques collection will have another item.
Hmm..I suppose my family medals can move at the back for this masterpiece ;)

  • +3

Found one of these are in an old suit I last wore to a wedding in '96, still had 2 bars of battery left.
