  • Loved this game. Awesome rendition of Adagio for Strings.

Wonder if the bug still exists where you could go waaaaay beyond your fleet size limit by capturing tons of enemy ships.

I'll save everyone some time - no it is NOT free through GOG connect if you already own it on steam, sorry.

  • Who cares if it was on Steam before? True GOG fans have been waiting for the classic originals for years . Finally today is the day!!!

It is $17.49 USD on Steam. So still cheaper on GOG.

I am curious, if it was the same price on Steam (which it isn't) why would you buy on GOG when you can get it for the same price on STEAM?

The same reasons why people buy ANY game on GOG, rather than an online-only, DRM enforced platform.

      • You don't have to be online to play the game on STEAM, and you have to download it from GOG or STEAM?

I understand the no DRM part, but if you are actually paying for the game not pirating it, does the DRM worry you?

I have never used GOG but I use STEAM a lot. I like how it automatically updates games when the updates are available and I like having all my games in one place.

        Does GOG have automatic updates?

If Steam was to unexpectedly shut down or make some rash change that results in you not wanting to use it then yes, DRM may be an issue. Crazier things have happened and bigger companies have gone under even if the chances of that happening too soon are likely slim.

Whether that risk offsets the convenience of having the games in a single library can be debated but.

@Smigit: Steam will never go down as long as Valve keeps making Hats for games

  • They neutered the re-release. No cool physics engine from the first homeworld. And something else was broken too.

    Read the reviews.

Even when it was cheaper in a bundle I decided I wasn't supporting a poor re-release: do it right, or not at all.
