Makita LS1040 Compound Mitre Saw $399 @ CL Tool Centre ($359 Via Bunnings Price Beat)

70

I used this price match at Bunnings today to get the saw for $359. Bargain in my opinion, there was some resistance, they said the policy does not apply nationally. I asked them to call the manager who confirmed it does apply nationally and gave me the deal. Usually $407, price match to $399 - 10% guarantee, so easy saving of $48 on a great saw.

  • Who ever you got wasn't on the ball. Bunnings will usually include the shipping price before doing a price match so other people may not be quite so lucky.

Lash, you are correct however the saw is available for free pick up which is why they honoured it

  • Damn. I don't live in QLD. I wonder if they will honor it if I tell them I'm going on a road trip. (from VIC) ;)

    • I am in NSW and they honoured it, it's a national price beat. Anyway there is a place in Vic with the same price. Justtools.com.au.

  • Awesome!

  • Just Tools also selling for $399 if that's more convenient to price match a local Bunnings on.

Edited: Sorry, didnt see post above already mentioning Just Tools. But here's the link anyway.

I still reckon for the money you go a different brand and getting a sliding compound mitre saw instead.
Makita is nice and all, but if you arent a brand snob there's better value elsewhere.

    • Like? Im in the market for one.

I feel like these prices have been raised.

I think i bought the above saw for 399 from bunnings a few months ago, and remember regretting it cause the Sliding makita saw(with less wattage) was only 30$ more?

        • I'm probably going to be bagged out for this… but:

          https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-1600w-254mm-slide-compound…

$168, not on sale price. Compare features/power etc. and read online reviews. A very surprising product.

          3yr REPLACEMENT warranty.

I used this sucker to build a huge deck and pergola, thinking that if it shits itself I'll just get another one. Didnt miss a beat. Online reviews also very positive.

If it dies after the 3 years, so be it. I'm not a daily tradie… its infrequent usage rate means I don't have to have Makita everything. Don't get me wrong, I have a Makita grinder and circular saw dad handed down to me from 20 years ago that are still going strong. But I just dont think modern day Makita is as good. Old school made in Japan stuff is different to the cheaper plastic and metals made in China stuff these days.

If you can get over the 'brand issues', this saw aint bad. Aint bad at all.

Wait till it goes on sale with the table for the same price, and its a no brainer.

Think about what that other $250 could buy you, by going Ozito instead of Makita. Just sayin.

@UFO: for one or two jobs you're probably right but makita comes into it own (compared to ozito) for most importantly accuracy, you will find the ozito is well off the mark even for a 90 degree cut. Makita resale is also great, ozito depreciates to nothing the second you walk out the door.

        • @Hawa:

Mate, I'm lot looking to re-sell. Once I buy a tool, I use it until it dies.
And I had absolutely no issues with accuracy. You can bet I would have taken it straight back if the angles weren't perfect. No point in owning a compound mitre saw that doesnt have perfect angles. That's a massive product flaw day 1.

Whilst I appreciate your opinion, nothing you've mentioned related to the Ozito Compoound Mitre saw I purchased. Throw a good quality aftrmarket blade on it (like I would do with any saw!) and away you go!

And in regards to depreciation (not that it matters in my opinion), no way that Makita loses less… a $400 price tag has a long way to fall. The Ozito is already starting at $169!

As a note, I used the above saw very lightly for 3 months, only cutting MDF and some treated pine. The original fitted blade jammed, exploded and broke the guard. Makita wouldnt come to the party covering it under Warranty.

      ACCC…

      Plus, that's some scary sh-t.
