  • Metallic is one of my favourite bands - if its endorsed by them then all I can say is:

Appears to be endorsed by both Metallic[a] and T[h]in Lizzy. Both great bands!

  • Any deals on 'block' puzzle? Hoping to expand my collection, as I've received and finish building all the past deals.

    • Have you finished the Minion 240pc? I'm still doing minion one.

      • That ones in the post at the moment, have yet to receive it.

So you can pick any colour you like, as long as it's silver?

    • Heh. There's actually (not on this site) an Iron Man one that is coloured in red and gold! I'm super tempted, but I think I'll work on the ones that are coming my way first (heap of Star Wars themed ones). If I go well and don't pull all my hair out, I'll order a bunch including some all the remaining Star Wars, Mass Effect and Marvel ones… :D

…I did buy a Xuron photo-etch tool kit to help, so here's to hoping all goes smoothly. :O

Yeah, the Iron Man model looks great. On my wish list :)

Just a heads up, this guy says that the Iron Man model is by far the most difficult and not for beginners among other comments.

        • Oh absolutely… it'll only go on my next purchase list to get those 'buy $X save $Y' vouchers. :P

I've already bought all of the metal puzzles I like. I received my first couple today (Black Pearl and Sydney Opera House, both from eBay), but I'm not sure I want to let myself near them I'll probably break them. I hope they're as awesome as they look (they seem like they will be, but I haven't tried putting them together yet).

Very cool. I can't resist for this price. My first EB purchase.
    Thanks.

Neat. Guess I'll grab one. Never used this site before.

Not sure anyone will read this, but I put together my Black Pearl ship tonight. I'm not very good with fiddly things or following instructions, but it went pretty well. I did end up messing it up because the instructions weren't explicit enough at one point, I should have been able to figure it out but didn't take my time. If i hadn't messed it up it would have been awesome, still looks pretty good from most angles.

I would highly recommend needle nose pliers, I think I read somewhere that tools aren't needed, but I'd say the pliers are. I used them for a bit more precision when removing parts from the sheet and for twisting/bending the tabs. On the packet for the ship it suggested two ways of securing the tabs, just bending them or twisting and bending, highly recommend the latter. For some reason I tried just bending for longer than I should have, twisting is quick, easy and more secure.

It was a fun little project and I look forward to the rest of my puzzles arriving, including the Model T Ford one which I ordered previously. In my opinion, they're excellent value for the price, at least if they're all this quality.

I got better results using fine tweezers over pliers, especially with the tabs. But pliers are good for making some of the longer bends.

And yep, I found twisting creates tighter joins too. But I learned the hard way to follow the instructions. I put twists in a few tabs rather than bends only to find that the tab sticking out got in the way of other parts. Easy to fix fortunately.
