Good price for the Founders edition in comparison to local prices, but as has been echoed over and over the last week or so, wait a week or two for the custom versions which at the worst will be the same price (if not slightly cheaper).

I'm personally waiting for the Asus Strix OC.

    • Quite a few were able to pre-order the AIB versions through Amazon as recent as 3am this morning. Prices came to less than $900 AUD delivered but they're all out of stock now.

    • Godly….$1000 video card. Wouldn't mind to be in the same tax bracket to afford a $1000 video card. My life has no meaning anymore.

  • +9

    Now we're getting somewhere.

I reckon prices will have evened out better by July though. Glad I'm not in a rush.

    Nice find though.

    • It's great prices and so tempting, but I'm still holding to my pocket to see RX 480 performance.

  • +17

Yes, but will it run Crysis?

    • +32

Get 2 just to be safe

        • Toads!!! Toads everywhere!!!

      • +1

        All of the above, yes

    • Ok for Crysis but not sure about Minecraft!

  • +22

Fanboys Edition! +$100 over MSRP gets you PR spin on the superiority of a terrible cooler and broken fan curve.

    • +12

      hue hue hue 'fan' boys

  • +4

Damn this costs more than my laptop lol

  • +2

Not bad considering the 980ti's are still going for more then this and are 30-40% slower! (SOOOOO happy I own 2 of them :/ )

  • +1

Personally i'd wait for custom coolers

  • +3

Isn't this just RRP for the founders edition and the custom cooler cards are supposed to be cheaper?

  • Rx 480 in SLI > 1080

If the game supports crossfire. Always best to get the best single GPU you can afford then add another later if required.

    • why the downvote? hes not wrong.

      • Because I would wait for more benchmarks of other games other than AOTS and a benchmark not from AMD before making that claim.

        • This is ozbargain, why would you support a 700 card vs a 200 card, the value is clearly defined already.

        • +1

@dcnguyen82: but we dont know for sure how good 2 480s will be in xfire. most likely it will be better bang for buck, but in terms of pure performance that remains unsure as the only info we have is biased

    • Crossfire has always been a bit shit though.

  • +1

That is a lot of critical reviews…

    http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Founders-Graphics-08G-P4-…

Some are even saying that the positive reviews are fake.

    Watch this space I guess.

    • Most of the critical reviews are from people after seeing the marked-up US $800-$1000 prices sellers were charging for it.

  • -4

    damnnnnn over 9000 cents! lol

  • +4

I don't see how a $970 graphics card with a ridiculous ~$100 FundHuang Edition markup is a good deal. This is OzBARGAIN, not OzRANSOM.

    • +1

Please show us where to get it cheaper.

  • +2

A lot of the Amazon comments are stating that the card supposedly retails at US$699, so this isn't exactly a bargain…

  • There's a lot of replies from the manufacturer to people's concerns.

    I wonder if that's a good thing.

  • +1

Still waiting for hard benchmark comparisons between the 1070 and AMDs Polaris offerings, especially under Direct X12.

  • -8

Why do we need such advanced GPU anyway?

  • +1

Nice deal, I will be waiting for a few updates, patches and drivers to be written before I even consider upgrading. By the time the price normalizes they are usually ready too.

  • -5

    Get the 390 instead.

    • +2

carrying r/pcgaming memes to here not the brightest idea lol

  • can someone please buy this for me?

    • +12

Sure, PM me your CC details and I'll sort it.

  • +2

I've just listed my kidney in the Classfieds section, please fund my purchase :)))))

  • +1

To play overwatch at max, you wont need this one

  • thats pretty damn cheap. cheaper than a 980ti even. i would buy one but i want to get the asus OC version, and once the 480 comes out i might change my mind if its as good as they say. freesync monitors are cheaper than g sync so overall it works out way better IF the card is good

  • +1

Looks nice. will it run Microsoft Word?

    • No, you'll need the rest of the computer for that.

  • good news its sub $1000aud, now to toss up between this or a 43" monitor. first world problems.

  • What card should I get if I want to play the best games at max settings but only in 1080p res? Digitalfoundry says 1070 and 1070 cards are overkill for 1080p.

    • Maybe a previous gen card when they are a clearance item. Depends on your monitors refresh rate.

  • After looking at numerous benchmarks, the Nvidia 1070 averages 55% higher FPS than the GTX 970 (which I own), and the 1080 about 20% more than the 1070. Unless you have a 4k monitor, the 1070 will be sufficient, and for 1920 x1080 probably the GTX 970 should be fine for almost all games unless you want to run everything at 120 FPS because you have a 120 Hz monitor.

Hopefully the 1070 (non Founder's edition) will be available at decent prices a month from now.

    • what price would you expect Thaal? will they be under the 500 mark in a month?

      • +1

That would be insane. The 1070 is slightly faster than the 980ti and the cheapest price from an aussie retailer for a 980ti is still ~$900.

A month from now I reckon the cheapest you'll see it (AIB) is around 700 unless there are stock issues like there is with the 1080 right now in which case, suppliers will try to screw you with higher prices.

      • +1

1080 is $600 USD, which is over $1000 AUD at the moment.

1070 is $380 USD. When you convert to AUD, add GST and Aussie Tax, you're looking at $650-700 best case scenario I'd say. Add a bit more flogging on top of that due to shortages of a just launched product and it wouldn't surprise me if you see it for $750. I intend to avoid the aussie tax by keeping an eye on Amazon prices. Sometimes they do crazy sales also.

Good thing I'm in no desperate need for it yet. Waiting for Kaby Lake. Hopefully 1070 prices will have fallen a bit since, or some ebay 20% off deal comes up.
