Sorry for the confusing, not so good at making the titles.
Your URL takes me to Steam Link not controller. - edit I see you have 2 links. Got it thanks.
Should be fixed, sorry!
Steam Link says "Ships to U.S. addresses only"
It allowed me to add it to the cart a little awhile ago.
I get this "We're sorry but product 'Steam Link' can only be shipped to the United States" at checkout after putting in address
They might be catching onto international purchases, Sorry.
Cheaper through Amazon, $58.66 USD (~$81 AUD) delivered.
Depends if you buy two - shipping was $29usd capped for one or two (didnt try more).
Works out to be $160.69 AUD for two steam controllers.
Bought it for 58 USD delivered months ago from Amazon. It even came with Cs:go back then. How's this a deal?
Title: "Steam Controller - US $64.98"
Body: "They are normally $50USD each."
So… the price went up?
Yeah this is super confusing
US$64.98 includes shipping.
US$50 is the usual price without shipping.
The shipping fees are stupidly high so if you were buying the controller for US$50 it would cost you a lot more than US$65 to get it here, even from Amazon.
US$64.98 includes shipping.
At least it would IF it shipped here.
?
It does ship here. The OP purchased two.
Why would you want this?
Honestly. Given the alternatives. Either use a keyboard and mouse, or a ps4/xbone controller
It's to allow people to play mouse driven games (ie, games without native controller support) from a couch using something like a controller. Fairly limited market I'd say, but some people want it.
Agreed, it definitely has its use cases. I have one I don't have much of a use for it. That said I think it's a good fit for some people, but it depends on what you plan on playing. Personally I've been playing a lot of modern titles that all have xinput support anyway, and the xbone controller feels much nicer.
That said, the Steam controller is well-suited to playing any games that don't offer any controller support (non-competitive strategy games, arcade, older games among others). You can tinker with so many different settings, use the trackpads as the mouse/scroll and buttons as other controls, etc. so there's a lot of utility in it. Of course, if you don't care about any of this then there's not much of a point to getting it.
Can I also add that activating the gyro combined with mouse look makes this a better controller than the PS4/XBone ones? Playing Tomb Raider, Rocket League and Overwatch with one of these and genuinely enjoying it much more than the XBone's controller.
Interesting use of the gyro.
Personally I have only found gyro to ruin games so far (comment targeted at mobile gaming, vita, and wii-u)
I think I will just wait for the steam sales ;-)
I think I'll wait till official release in Australia, they are bound to be cheaper and will likely be improved by then too
For a second I thought the AU delivered price was still in US dollars lol
