Need a Good 8+ Outlet Power Board for Home Office. Want to Use The eBay Click20 Voucher

I would like a good quality 8+ outlet power board for my home office.
USB ports would be very nice, but not absolutely necessary.
I just want to be sure that a power surge won't kill my computer, and the electronics I'm using won't over load it.

Obviously I'd want to take advantage of the Ebay Click20 sale.

  • Don't know if they're on eBay special but I have a safemore outlet, has 10 ac plugs and 4 x 2.1a sub outlets. Was about $35+10 for shipping

    • Where did you get it from?
There's a few types from googling. Which one do you have?
      And how is it?

Mine is similar to this one, but black body with white sockets. Works well, had my tower, 2 screens, printer, NAS, external hard drive, modem, network switch and speakers on ac plugs and 2 iPhone/iPad cables and a micro sub for Bluetooth keyboard. Left me with 1 spare for laptop charging. Never thrown the safety switch so must be ok.

    i'm a fan of arlec.

however, i have never been able to find a good (decently price) powerboard that has more than 6 plugs. if you relax your requirement for 8 or more, you will have a larger pool of options.

    some additional considerations:
    - if protecting your computer is essential, make sure you have protection for phone line and ethernet. i have had my network card get toasted during a storm before. this one has 7 plugs and supports RJ45 : http://www.arlec.com.au/detail-2/?de=PB72G

    • this may be personal preference, but consider getting an individually switched powerboard. the problem with >6 plugs is fewer and fewer models will have this feature. i have a whole bunch of these: http://www.arlec.com.au/detail-2/?de=PB68T

    • if i wasn't so individual-switch obsessed, i'd go for this belkin one, which has 8 plugs and usb ports: http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/belkin-8-ou…

    • make sure that there is extra space for at least a couple of the plugs, to allow for those annoying space-hogging devices.

    • Unfortunately, I have 2 power sockets in the wall, and have 15 plugs.
So I really need the 8 outlets.

  • DSE used to sell 8 plug surge boards - which was the OB surge protector gold standard

I've been using one for 9 years with my main PC/printer/amp/desk light. so far it has blown up. so that's good.

here's what it looks like from a previous deal

    but no longer available

a quick look on ebay showed a couple of boards that meet your requirements.

CABAC 8 WAY SURGE PROTECTION POWERBOARD for $31 delivered - looks like a Philips board

then there is the [Belkin BSV804AU2M 8 Outlet Surge Protector Powerboard with 2M Cord 2 USB Ports for $45 less 20% off code = $36 delivered].

the belkin sound better for the simple fact it has a 2 usb ports and belkin is known name.

    • "so far it has blown up. so that's good." urghhh?

      • *so far it has not blown up.

        my bad
