It depends the quality of you electricity wire?
I get what you're saying, but I'm interested in the quality of TP-Link EOP kits.
I have the oldest Netgear one 85mbps but my home is separated with different circuits, therefore I have no use of these.
TP-Link are a reputable modem/router brand and it carries over to their EoP gear as well. Their GUI is always a bit basic compared to say Asus, but does what you need. I have found their products to stand up to abuse quite well.
As a bonus, networking gear tends to work together much more nicely if all from the same manufacturer. So those with Tp-link modems such as the popular C/D series, or wireless AC PCI slots etc would probably find these to all mesh together just a little better. That's not to say it won't work fine with other brands, just that it seems they mostly trial between in house gear and that usually has the best compatibility :)
It's cheap and a huge upgrade over your existing lot. I'd go for it.
Thanks @Yekul

This thing transmits wifi as well? Wireless repeater/extender?
I'm in the market to upgrade my old Netgear AV500's
The reviews seem OK. http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/review/powerline-adapters/tp-link… and http://www.hardwareheaven.com/2015/05/tp-link-av1200-review/
Does anyone know if these units can be either the sender or receiver? So in effect, if I wanted additional outlets would I be able to purchase 2 sets of these and set one unit up as the sender and the other 3 as receivers? Or do I get 2 senders and 2 receivers? (Hope that made sense)
They all work as both senders and receivers.
Thanks for that. I also contacted TP Link Support directly, and they confirmed the units can be both sender or receiver.
The TP Link support was very good (and quick) so if they are an indicator of their products they should be pretty good.
I have the AV300…grabbed one of these to try. Hopefully a bit better.
I'm a little confused, looking at Wireless1's store they have:
TP-Link TL-PA8010P $139 - 20%:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/TP-Link-TL-PA8010P-AV1200-Gigabit…TP-Link TL-PA8010PKIT $169 - 20%:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/TP-Link-TL-PA8010PKIT-Ethernet-AV…Can anyone shed any light on the difference?
TP-Link TL-PA8010PKITis $142 instead.
I think it is just the same but with different price tag.
Purchased, thanks OP
i have an old netcomm av200. Is this worth upgrading to? Thanks in advance
Depends on what you will use it for?
I upgraded from 200 to 500, a lot better streaming HDTV with MediaPortal.
Gaming on Ps4 mainly.
What router are you using?
If you are using ADSL2+ may be get a TPLink D9, I am thinking to buy it some say it is good for gaming.
@superforever:
R7000. Ps4 is downstairs while modem is upstairs so wireless is kinda ruled outYou must have a big house or concrete wall.
R7000 is already quite good.
If your AV200 works OK this AV1200 should improve it.
Edited
I was thinking maybe my tired old 200Mbps (theoretical max etc etc) EOP setup should be retired. In 2012 "Belkin Surf 200Mbps AV Powerline Kit Dual Pack (F5D4077au) - $89.95".
Are the TP-Link's any good? This kit seems to be $125 everywhere else.
