  • Most confusing title.

I thought it was a discount on currency conversion / purchase of USD.

OK I suppose it might make sense if you knew what Stacksocial sells (I didn't).

    • Hi,

      Thanks for your feedback.

Sure I can see how it might be interpreted in that way, however the category listing was placed under:

      Internet: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/cat/internet

If it were Forex or Currency Exchange it would have been listed under:

      Financial: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/cat/financial

Additionally, I referred to and strictly observed the "Submit Bargain" criteria of https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:title_guidelines and indicated in the Title in the correct hierarchy:

      Price
      Shipping Costs (Not applicable)
      Merchant
Product Name (Not applicable - Discounts generic to site offerings/spend).

I also indicated examples some of the products on offer:
"Check out Getflix, StreamJack, VPNGhost and lots more…"

As have there been numerous previous and current StackSocial Listings at: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/stacksocial.com
and there are so many products on offer it wasn't viable to list all the products on offer…

Thanks for your feedback though, I can see how it might appear to be a discount on Currency Conversion, but $adly, it isn't.

  • however the category listing was placed under…

That doesn't show anywhere noticeable, and I was scrolling deals like most people do.

Additionally, I referred to and strictly observed the "Submit Bargain" criteria of

Which tells you the ABSOLUTE MINIMUM, not the maximum amount of info in a title.

I also indicated examples some of the products on offer…

Well down in the description, which doesn't show in the Deals listing.

Anyway, you are talking about Internet category and Getflix… yet when I look at the site they sell much more than that. So you chose a misleading Ozbargain category… Or are you now saying that these codes only apply to some Web Services and not all the other products?

As have there been numerous previous and current StackSocial Listings…

You seem not to realise that only existing clients would know that. Potential new clients, like me, wouldn't have a clue what "StackSocial" is (it sounds like a social media site).

As a REFERRER, you are trying to get new clients, so you get a skim off what they purchase - correct?

Ever considered adding at least a tiny weeny bit of information about what's on offer - just, you know, to encourage new people to take a look?

Anyway, I did take a quite look and it all looked expensive, I saw no bargains there. A token $10 discount hardly makes what I saw there very competitive. Site's slow and hard to navigate, with no logical categories. Just random items, and I just don't get it… too hard for me, I haven't got time to try and learn what it's all about.

Apologies for my ignorance - even though I am a long term member, I have never heard of Stack Social. Cheers

    • The Category is in the normal place on the OzBargain listing and it is the most suitable one for the majority of the goods have StackSocial on offer.

Of the last 12 listings on:
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/stacksocial.com all of them were Internet or Software related.

I find your suggestion that my selection of "Internet" as being "misleading" as offensive.

I'm not trying to get "new clients" either, I have no relationship with StackSocial.
Like many others here I just share deals I find.

      I also note you posted:
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/44800 but didn't include the Pencil product under the obvious Category of "Business and Office", rather you used the Category "Home and Garden".

      What were you thinking?

Also, some of the StackSocial offerings "Gear and Gadgets" for example can't be shipped outside the USA or for other reasons like shipping w/Batteries or Size/Weight issues, but I didn't say you couldn't look at those items or try and arrange shipping, nor did I say the codes wouldn't work across the whole site.

In fact I said "Check out Getflix, StreamJack, VPNGhost and lots more…"

If you think StackSocial sounds like a Social Media site, well Companies have funny names. K-Mart isn't a place where they sell the Letter "K" and "The Gap" isn't a Dentist. Contact StackSocial and suggest them a better name…

As far as being a referrer, I'm only one of more that 183+ other OzBargainer's who are listed as referrers to StackSocial. I complied with the OzBargain listing guidelines by clearly declaring this, invited people to use my link or one of the other Random Referral Links indicated. You can obviously elect not use a referral link as well if you choose.

I don't "get a skim" from off what people people purchase either.
The referral Credit is clearly indicated and declared on the listing.

Although you say you are a long time member you may have missed StackSocial existing, I note you haven't posted a deal since October, 2013…

As I said, it isn't my site, but I note you state that of StackSocial that the "Site's slow and hard to navigate, with no logical categories.

Huh, did you even look at: Categories? https://stacksocial.com/# that has a drop down Menu to 6 distinct sub-categories?

In fact, this drop down Menu idea was advanced by you to OzBargain to adopt in your post of:
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/61906
So either it is a good idea and StackSocial have incorporated it or it is a bad idea, but you have advanced it to OzBargain.
