  • Great post, thanks. Would anyone have an opinion about the Xbox One Wired Sidekick Controller? Looks like good value for $20 for the kids but know nothing about xbox myself.

    • No concrete evidence but PowerA have a bad name in the peripheral business! but for the kids can you go wrong for $20?

    • +3

Bought my nephew one. Nothing wrong with it. If you buy one of the gatorclaw controllers. Remember you have to upgrade the hardware/ firmware through your pc.

  • +2

    Brilliant effort m8

  • So only those amiibos listed no other ones? All amiibos or just these specific ones

Look like a lot of stuff not available online anymore.

Was this sale started way early than last night?

    • This is further reductions on clearance. Most of it was bought when originally put on clearance online. Might get lucky at some stores finding them.
Only the mentioned amiibo are further reduced.

    • Scoped out the stock at my local Target tonight and they had $4 tickets on specific amiibos mentioned in the post, others were $10, and the most recent ones are still $17 iirc.

  • 3ds not available online anymore

  • Wii Nunchuck has been $7 at KMART for years

    • +2

      The cheap knock-off one, yeah.

  • Does anyone know if turtle Beach headphones work with PC?

    • They usually do

      • Yeah I googled, some results say it works out of box others say you have to buy adapter.

  • +4

Ha! The black new 3DS is still machine washable under the care instructions. Been like that for months, maybe I should tell them?

  • Also for the criminally minded, the Wii U version here is not fully hackable. With earlier versions you could download copies of games and play them without paying, just don't connect your Wii U to the internet before the hack or it will update.

    BTW, I haven't hacked mine.

    • +1

There was an exploit released that works on the latest FW 5.5.1 so all should be fine if that's what you want to do.

      • Cheers, if I can make it an emulator machine, I'll be happy with that exploit.

  • +7

Also, the XBOX One 1TB 3 Game console bundle (includes Rare Replay, Gears of War and Ori) is $399 down from $549. Limited stock available in store only.

I have the full list of markdowns which I will post shortly.

    • hey mate, were you able to get the full list? I was looking at getting the PS4 wireless headset if it was going cheap.

      • that's not part of the markdowns unfortunately

  • +2

All these are in-store only now:

    $2 Animal Crossing Series 2 Album(target.com.au)
    $4 Dr Mario Amiibo(target.com.au)
    $4 Mii Brawler(target.com.au)

    $4 Splatton Inkling Boy Amiibo(target.com.au)

    • Thanks I will update shortly.

There should be plenty of stock in stores still for the Amiibo products.

The New 3DS consoles are also around too if you look around.

  • Damn, was hoping they'd have the new 3ds xl's on sale too

  • Any way of telling what store has stock other than calling them up?

    Looking for either N3DS.

  • +2

Is the new 3ds $149 good value?

    • If you can still find any stock that is!

    • They are around $220 new, so I think it's a decent deal. Just keep in mind that it doesn't come with a charger so you might want to factor that into the cost.

  • Nothing that really grabs me, but still a great deal! Nice one OP!

  • Just grabbed a white one this morning! Thanks OP!

There was another white one left at Edwardstown SA as of around 8.30 in case anyone else was interested.

    • You grabbed a white one? There's another one left? What the? :D

      • What's wrong with the white one?

        • Pretty sure rtassone means 3DS and shiraj means Wii U

        • @chrysilis: Ah ok that makes sense although I thought white Wii U's were long gone from Aussie retail?

        • @High Score King: Pretty sure that's the joke :P

  • The 2DS was $99 for anyone who doesn't care/want the 3D.

  • +2

    Palutena
    Dark pit
    Bowser jr
    Cpt olimar
    Mii brawler

    All $4

The rest of SSB between $10 & $17.

Didn't scan animal crossing amiibo, sorry.

    Lots in Taget Geelong CBD.

    • all acnl amiibo are $4 EXCEPT blathers + kicks who are still $17 ea.

  • +1

Lego Dimensions at $15 is not bad.

    • +1

I picked up a 360 copy with a damaged box from the Strathpine store yesterday for $15. I was stoked! Are you saying all copies are $15 in-store?

      • Only some of the Fun Packs are $15, down from $24.

        • DC Comics Cyborg & Cyber-Guard
        • LEGO Chima Cragger & Swamp Skimmer
        • LEGO Chima Eris & Eagle Interceptor

        • The Lord Of The Rings Legolas & Arrow Launcher
        • +1

Oh! Okay. I picked up the actual starter pack with game for only $15. Not a bad saving on a listed price of $159 haha

        • @Online Bathroomware:

I presume the contents were fine and intact, just not the box. Either way, excellent find!

        • +2

@silverrat23: Yes they were. I was thinking it would be missing something, but it was just a damaged box. Ripper deal!

        • @Online Bathroomware: That is a fantastic deal!!!

Also, enjoy the game, it's excellent fun :)

  • I bought the Wii U + Mario World Maker bundle and a bunch of games from the last deal (also ~$299 with eBay 20% off) but I still haven't got around to playing them yet :(

    • I bought the Mario Kart 8 Bundle last year, just opened it a couple of weeks ago, or I think after just over a year from original purchase? Still good, and some of the other accessories (including 3rd party ones) cheaper now!

  • Got last 3ds from blacktown

Still had $219 on tag and surprised staff on scan.

  • Can anyone tell me what firmware the 3ds comes for homebrew purposes?

    • It will be fine.

    • Any firmware is now exploitable (not sure on 11)

I got a Zelda 3DS XL a few weeks ago and it was running 10.3 out of the box, now running patched 10.7

I had to patch it up to 10.7, then down to like 3 and then back up to 10.7. Not for the faint of heart

      • Thanks, went and got the white.. firmware 9.0.. w00t

    • Mine is 9.9.0-26E.

Are these sales a result of target or Nintendo dying ?

    • Are the Amiibos going to be useless soon, or still worth getting?

      • They'll still work, Nintendo isn't going to make them not work on whatever they work on now.

    • +1

      Probably Target dying.
Guy Russo would be doing the same thing he did to Kmart years ago, clearance everything and start again.

      • +2

I do worry about gaming because he removed it all from Kmarts shelves :(

        • Gaming is such a hard area for a department store. And it depreciates to worthless in next to no time.

Kmart was right to dump it and Target will be to. They aren't going to compete with JB or EB in this area, it's not worth their while.

        • +3

@the-mal: That sucks if true. I hope Big W hang in there because their prices are the best. EB can go and get stuffed.

        • @the-mal: EB Are a rip off 360 days of the yr and even Jbhifi is more expensive that Target most of the time so I hope they stay in this area, they just need to have a better Gaming range. Entertainment sections are boring and need to be revamped to include booths to try out new games, couches to try out new TV'S, sound stations to try new tracks and not have Entertainment hiding in the corner of stores.

        • +2

We really need Target and BigW to stick around with gaming. EB sells everything at RRP and while JB used to be ok, their prices are now pretty much just $10 off EB. In fact JB doesn't even do games sales any more. They would often do 20% blurays and dvds but never games. At least EB does mid year or end of year sales and even then the prices are just bearable.

        • +1

Same. Not too long ago we had Kmart, Dick smith, good guys and myer all carrying video games. Would be bad for us consumers if we lost target too and were left with only Eb, JB, Big W, Gametraders and (sort of) Harvey Norman.

Having said that, this has happened too soon after his appointment to say Guy Russo is getting rid of games. It's one area Target can really differentiate from KMart which is something he's said is needed so fingers crossed.

Target should really look at how much game stock they get as its way too much for a lot of games though.

        • @Bands06: This might have to do with the Wii U, Xbox One and maybe PS4 not doing as well as they want.

Would have been easier to sell games during the Wii era. You also had Guitar Hero style games as well back then.

Or at least retail games that is, there are far less retail games produced now.

Partly due to digital and less companies focusing on retail game development, the way they used to.

        • +1

          @BNGames: Yep agree completely.

i think Target and Big W need to get a lot leaner and smarter with their games though now. They've seen what these consoles and games are selling like so they should be able to predict required stock levels a lot better now. Otherwise I reckon they'll chuck it in before too long if they keep needing to have clearance sales.

        • +1

          @Bands06:
Also have to compete with online retailers as well.

        • DVDs also seem to be disappearing from Target. They're no longer online and in store fixture are being replaced with cardboard stands.

        • @durd0008: Yeah doesn't look good, from what I heard they are moving to a low everyday price model like kmart and will kill off % off deals :(

      • This is a good read on the topic:
        http://theconversation.com/how-kmart-ate-target-a-story-of-r…

Considering they've closed Target HQ, I can only assume they're going to rebrand as Kmart, or radically change the business model.
        http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-04-14/target-to-shut-geelong…

    • After going in store to a handful of Targets over the last few weeks, id say they are either A) getting out of the game business all together or B) at the very least scaling back their stock dramatically. Game section is barren as hell, virtually no stock but the discounted shovelware.

    • New nintendo NX coming out soon plus I read that target will want to clear stock as they had a large loss in the profits for the first quarter or something. Cannot remember where I read that though, but it was only last week.

  • +2

Went to Target Innaloo and bought one of each of the Ammibo on sale. They still have a few more left of each Smash Bros & Animal Crossing Ammibo, except they were out of the Splatton ones. They also have one Mario Party 10 pack still left if it helps anyone and some Animal Crossing albums. That's all that's left, no consoles. Wasn't going to start collecting the Animal Crossing ones but for this price its worth it. Thanks Op for the heads up!

  • Tags might still show $10 for the amiibos, but they come up at $4 at the checkout.

  • FYI, Just went to Mawson Lakes and they looked to have 2 white and 1 black 3DS in the cabinet but they are not marked at the discount price.

Only had Mario Kart Wii Us and no white nunchuks.

I picked up what looked to be the last copy of Code Name STEAM and there looked to be a number of Amiibo on the shelf.

  • +1

Thanks OP, bought Ryse in Perth CBD for $10

  • +1

Thanks OP, I grabbed one of the Level Amiibo

  • Pretty hard to find stock especially amiibo end game level display, none at for all three stores near me.

Also a lot of Amiibo already sold out in store before this deal is posted.

  • Brisbane stores are generally pretty well stocked with gaming stuff.

Try Strathpine, Mt Ommaney, Queen St Myer Centre, Carindale, Toombul, and North Lakes.

I've picked up quite a few bargains from these stores.

  • Wii U a good deal? Or you think they will be cheaper soon? In no great rush

    • +1

They havent been getting much cheaper than this so its a good price.

Quite possibly will get cheaper in the future but finding stock may be an issue.

    • +2

Here are two options. Pick one:

      • $300, but easier to find.
      • <$300, but harder to find.

While we may not be lucky enough to snag a Wii U console for $200, $300 for the console + game + amiibo is a pretty good price as it is. Also, I believe the console will not be restocked for much longer, so stock levels are only going to go down from here.

      • +1

Agreed. Retailers are running stocks down.

If you don't like/enjoy Mario Maker, sell it, then you have a Wii U premium console for less than $300.

IF ( and that's a big if ) you wait for a further price drop, you'll have to compete with other OzB members and then there's the running around to get one.

The price alone makes me one to buy one as a spare.

FTR, I own both a Wii U and PS4. The games are more fun (for me) on the Wii U.

  • +1

Inazuma Eleven Go Shadow - 3DS is also $10. One left on shelf at Plenty Valley Target. Managed to pick up the last code name steam too! Cheers OP.

  • For those who want the 3DS (in NSW):

I bought a white version 3DS this afternoon from Carlingford, NSW, there were still 3 white and 4 black version 3DS left in the cabinet. $149 each.

Also there are a few Amiibo characters on the shelf which didn't interest me.

    Good luck.

  • Does anyone know where to get a cheap NDS charger? The 3DS doesn't come with one, which is very strange!

    • +2

The official one from Nintendo is only $15 in most stores I think. I don't think you would save much money by going third party. You should be able to get them from JB, EB etc. Target may even sell them.

The reason why they are not including a charger is that they believe most people who are buying this as an upgrade to their old 3ds. Nintendo is probably just trying to save costs.

    • Daiso, $2.80 :)

      • You are right! It's cable only though

        http://mydaiso.com.au/index.php/usb-charging-cable.html

Good for those who want to use their existing usb chargers.

        • I prefer the cheap $1 cables on eBay if you are willing to wait a few weeks. The daiso one seems to flimsy to me.

  • +3

I will update the main post tonight with the other bargains people have found. I'm just on my way to see if I can find some myself :)

A lot is still available in store and I will hopefully be able to report on stock this afternoon as I hunt down a 3DS and some Amiibo.

Thanks for all the feedback guys!

    • skylanders superchargers for wii u $39 good price also down from $79

  • They got loads of 3ds's and amiibo at Morley galleria perth

  • +2

If you want to know more price drops click the links in this link to see what prices have changed :)
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/243118

  • Dr olimar is one of the best amiibo I've seen. Bought 2

  • Just got one off Sefton Park SA, they had a few in the cabinets but when I called this arvo they mentioned they only have one left. Regardless, price as per OP.

  • Went to Knox (Vic) this afternoon, HEAPS of Amiibo. Plenty on shelf, more behind counter. Not huge amounts of cheap games though. Heaps of copies of COD Ghosts on PS3. And yes, I got one. For 5 bucks, can't complain.
