Hot on the heels of sacs2k1's deal, saw this in the paper today. Only South Melb Kia appears to be doing this deal

Most places are flogging them off for $18,900, so credit to South Melbourne Kia.

Seems to only apply for the hatch and not the sedan

  • What's that in the conditions at the bottom? Looks like 2015 plated vehicles

    • I don't have the paper on me anymore, but squinting at it believe you're correct.

    • It says '2015 built models only', hurt my eyes reading all the fine print but got most of it.

  • I'm inexperienced with cars. Does 7 years unlimited warranty mean capped price servicing for 7 years?

    • 7yrs/105,000kms, provided it's not a diesel

    • +1

yes. According to the website it means:

      • 7 Years warranty
      • 7 Years Capped Price Service
      • 7 Year Roadside Assistance (didn't know about this one- thats awesome)

      http://www.kia.com.au/customer-care

      • The 7 Year roadside assist is dependent on getting Kia servicing however that's still well worth it considering it is capped priced.

      • That's bloody terrific then. My only wish was this was a Japanese car

        • -1

Consider paying $500 extra on the Lancer deal.

    • -2

KIA got done by the ACCC for the "capped" service prices NOT being capped, its expensive to service and if you dont the warranty is void

I would rather the Japanese built Mitsubishi Lancer for $500 more

Good deal all the same, mush be crushing the 2nd. market

      • My mother had a Ford with capped servicing . What a joke , charged extra for rags , injector cleaner , oil disposal etc etc .

        • Totally wrong

KIA got raped by the ACCC, not sure if Ford got its hands smacked

They will always try to add extra to the capped service, poor form really, esp. for a new car

So far Mitsubishi and Toyota have not tried with me [yet] they are all on notice

@8200: looks like Kia got pinged and have changed their policies and refunded past customers. Hardly raped, nor are their cars that expensive to service and their warranty is enforceable even if you don't get your car serviced by them.

I bought one of these for my wife last year. VERY VERY happy with this car, highly recommended - amazing value!

    Driveway with Auto Transmission

I've always wanted a driveway with auto transmission lol

    • +1

      ;)

      • Is this the CVT? I would not even feel I am leaving while increasing the speed :)

  • Does anyone know if I can order and ask them to ship the car to my house in Brisbane?

    • +2

Yeah, just apply KIAFREESHIP upon check out for free shipping, and don't forget your cashreward.

      • Lol. Nice post

    • I'd try local dealers first as they may match it.

    • I bought my vehicle from Melbourne. Cost $1000 to be delivered up to the Gold Coast to my door.

  • I would spend 2k extra and get my17. Depends if you just plan on owning it for 10 years or if you replace your car alot. But I've noticed for Korean cars especially, new shapes kill resale on old ones pretty damn bad. This comes from an 2010 i30 fd diesel owner. Great car but unsellable. Really just waiting for the next hailstorm at this point.

If you buy the 2017 one it gives you a couple of extra years of decent resale.

I mean these outgoing ones aren't cheap enouggh compared to the new shape.

    • Along the coast we get very strong really damaging winds, so choose carefully where you park…

When you can get a new corolla ascent sport for 22k why would u bother with a kia that will depreciate so hard

    • +1

au contraire, the Kia is only a few percentage points behind the Rolla.

      • Yes but corolla will always hold its value better regardless of what review articles say.. kia is picking up their game but will never come close to Toyota and their reputation

        • Well you're looking a few different things.
First up there is a $4k starting difference.
Secondly Toyota has capped price servicing for 3 years and a warranty for 3 years. Kia has 7 years warranty, 7 years servicing and 7 years roadside. 7 years roadside you're looking at $500+ over 7 years.
Let's say in 4 years time you want to sell your car. Kia still had 3 years servicing, warranty and roadside. 3 more whole years…
It's hard to say resale value on these as these new after sales services changes the game considerably.
Mind you I just got a corolla so nothing against Toyota.

          @dasher86:

I'm looking forward to the new Baleno, I think it's gonna mix it up a bit :)

        • -3

@dasher86: kia needs 7 years warranty because they fall apart that's the only way someone will buy a kia.. you can negotiate at any toyota dealer and they will give u 6 years capped prices servicing.. even 2 years extended warranty for free..

        • +1

@dasher86: if I was in the used car market I'd personally be more inclined to purchase a car with remaining factory warranty.

The Toyota\Subaru\Mazdas of this world simply don't cut it in this aspect. I guess they think everyone replaces their 3 YO car with a new one.

        • @rodripa: think because finance is so cheap and options are so wide. Resale is tough at this price point where you can drive away in something new for $19990 or less. Who wants to buy a 3.5 year old corolla for $16.5k with no warranties. Lucky there are schmucks out there that still do.
