    • Funny how you got neg'd for being correct. Only $2 shipping/free over $50 but from Aus and no currency exchange.

        Not from aus

        • Neither is Amazon. Ozgameshop had this for $54 free ship last week.

Along with this, I'd recommended ticket to ride Europe as the intro version rather than usa. A few more features I think are worthwhile.

  • Has been cheaper previously with Australian stock https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/3552850/redir.
I also recommend Europe as a superior option.

The best board game series I played in my life… and I played many :)

I am going to splash out on the 10th anniversary version when it comes up cheap.
    Will be worth it :)

    • Looks great I will wait for it too

  • Has anyone bought or made any expansions to the original game?

I've got Europe as my base copy, and the India/Switzerland expansion as we mainly play with two. We've also got Nordic which you could use as a base copy but it only comes with 3 sets of trains.

      • You mean two maps? How do you link the two? What's in the expansion packs? Do you get just the board with the map?

        • +1

Expansions come with an extra small map to add on to a base game + more cards, and you can use multiple expansions.

The USA map and the Europe map each have a mini expansion that adds more route cards. The Europe expansion also adds depots that when played right can quickly refresh your hand with train cards.

Other expansions tend to just add double sided maps and route cards but don't include train meeples or the train cards.

The USA map is a bit cut throat for beginners (you can easily get blocked) and you can totally win by completely ignoring the routes and just aiming to get 6 cards of the same colour and building the 6 car routes randomly.

The Europe map addresses these flaws by only having fewer long sections of track, so at least some of your points need to come from completing routes, and with stations that allow players change to another player's train line to overcome blockages around busy cities. It has ferry and tunnel routes which add different wrinkles to the formula. I think it's the most balanced experience.

2 people sorry. Tighter maps are better for lower player counts.

T2R is a great entry point to Euro style games.

I bought my copy of this USA version about 10 years ago, and the train cards were ridiculously small. I had to buy the 1912 expansion to go with it, as this has proper-sized cards. I'm not sure if they have fixed this problem.

The gameplay in this version is a little unbalanced as it favours the people who get the higher-points tickets. The later Europe version doesn't have this issue, and adds a couple of other interesting elements to the game.

My recommendation is to play this USA version first so you can get your head around the rules, but then own the Europe version. You'll get far more games out of it.

I've just bought T2R Nordic countries, which is great for 2-3 players.

    Great website to compare prices

  • Not the best price unless you are buying with other board games (for cheaper shipping overall)
