  • Any review for it? It is as good as Philips All in one?

    Thanks,

    • All in ones can be more handy because you can use them to brown the ingredients before cooking, this doesn't do that, you need to first brown on the stove, then chuck it all in.

Wait, apparently I'm wrong, that manual button turns the element on… Well there ya go!

      • +1

I do tend to agree about the AIOs, the addition of slow cooking functionality is a great boon for many people, myself included.

That said, the lion's share of my AIO use is still pressure cooking! ;)

    • +2

Good reviews on target website. If you scroll down you will see few reviews.

      • Judging by the reviews you have to be over 45 or preferably in the 65 y/o age bracket to purchase ;)

  • Saw this a few ago at Target stores, at this price, just self-wondering how often this could be on sale as we don't really need one right now but our current cooker has started playing up a little bit.

  • +2

How safe are these things? Always been a bit skeptical that they may blow up.

    • Hm, gasket could be faulty.

Some people have experienced like events.

I would imagine it's unlikely to happen though.

      • -1

Yea. Exactly my concern about a pressure cooker.

Odd of occurrence is low, but damage is significant.

        • I had a cheap pressure cooker ($49 from Coles I think) a few years ago. It definitely freaked me out everytime I used it, but I never had any problems.

        • @narcoleptic-haze: That sounds like a problem :D

          Warning: May freak you out

    • +3

Thermomix is worth $2K and its blown up in many peoples faces.
I'm not sure what a pressure cooker with a RRP sub $100 would do if it had a design floor..

In saying that I'd be more afraid of the kettle handle breaking off while I walk, or 65" LCD falling on my child who climbs it!
      I mean, what if? Right?

Seriously use it to the book, if you die, sue them!

  • +3

This looks promoising. At this price, it's worth the jump.

Also, not the cheapest it has been: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/202142

Going by OzBargainers from 2015, they seem to enjoy this model. Looks like a good buy.

    • Hmm thanks. I think I'll wait for it to get cheaper as I don't have a great need for it now.

  • +1

If this is the same model that they had on sale last year (it's certainly the same make), then it's well worth getting one. We've not used ours as much as we could as we're very much creatures of habit, but each time we do use it we ask ourselves why we don't use it more. The few basic things we cook in it (stews, soups etc.) work out well.

    • +1

yep, it's a handy unit to have at this price. It's great for those cheaper cuts of meats that require longer cooking time and you can't be stuff slow cooking it. I've learnt not to put too much water/liquid in it when cooking non soup stuff as the liquid doesn't evaporate. I do agree though that the meat isn't as flavoursome as slow cooking, but not bad for a roughly 20 min cooking time.

      • +2

When I think of pressure cooking I also think firstly of meats; however, the recipe that surprised me was risotto, I didn't expect it to work out as well as it did, I genuinely expected it to turn to congee, which it didn't…I'm now a total convert, gotta love perfect risotto cooked in 10-11 minutes! :)

        • really? I need to try risotto next time, mushroom risotto, yum.

        • +1

@JetLi: Absolutely, there's heaps of great recipes online for pressure cooker risotto, just follow them & you can't go wrong! ;)

        • Did you follow my advice on that like a year ago? :P Lol I remember spruking that a while ago

        • +3

@Spackbace: It actually could have been you that initially planted the seed of reason.

I was highly resistant to pressure cooked risotto til I tried it at a friend's house, then once I did it myself & realised that it was no fluke all bets were off! ;)

        • @StewBalls: You use a white wine in your risotto?

  • +1

To anyone that already has this model: Does it have a slow cook feature?

    • +3

no, it's just a pressure cooker.

  • Anyone else finding the price at $99 and not $59??

    • +2

      Start Tomorrow.

      • Just read that. Face Palm Thanks!

  • We bought one last year when they had it on sale for half price ($50). But for $59, it's still a pretty good price. You just need to make sure you put the lid on properly (which can be hard sometimes) or else the pressure cooker won't start (once you set the timer, the pressure starts after a few minutes).

To be honest, we've only used it < 10 times. Obviously it can cook food much quicker than using the traditional slow cook but in my opinion the food isn't as nice.

Apart from that, the other downside, although this applies to all pressure cookers is that I usually take the pressure cooker outside to let off all the steam since I don't like a whole heap of pressure been released into the house.

  • What do people here think is best food for cooking in this?

    • +7

      Eneloops stew

    • +1

i was thinking braise ribs and then stick them in the oven

      • +1

Yep. Can make great ribs/pulled pork. Add a dash of liquid smoke and no one can tell the difference.

    • +3

      Risotto, so easy :)

      • Got any recipes?

        • +1

          I made some last night!

brown a large onion, bit off garlic, 800g chicken. Then added 500 mushrooms, and added the rice to toast briefly, I used the cup that came with it and did 2.5 of those, and then added 3:1 ratio of stock to rice.

Stir everything to combine, cover and put on high pressure for 6 minutes. Once done, remove lid stir through baby spinach (added a whole 150g bag) and Parmesan. Season to your liking :)

That fed three hungry people and enough left overs to feed two more.

    • +4

I've done chilli, chicken wings, whole chicken, corned beef, chocolate cake, ribs, etc. Ribs and chicken were great…fall off the bone…popped the ribs under the grill afterwards with some BBQ sauce to sticky up.

      • what size is your pressure cooker? (or is it one of these models?) wasnt sure if 6L would fit a whole chicken!

        • +1

Yeah it's this model, purchased last year when it was on sale.

      • +1

Nice. I don't usually cook at home as my kitchen is tiny and the stove is useless. I might just buy this to tempt me to cook at home lol

    • +2

I often buy a chook from woolies, eat it then throw the carcass in the PC with some stock and vegies.
Cook it for 30 mins. Take it out and strain it. Pick out the vegies and remaining chicken and put it back in the broth and it makes an amazing soup.
Best way to cook rice too, my old rice cooker went in the bin after using the PC.

      • Can't do that with a Mac!

      • Thirty minutes? That sounds a bit too long. I have an electric pressure cooker, (Breville). Ten minutes
for chicken soup, (only using two large drumsticks and one litre of liquid). Vegetable soup takes five minutes. I use the slow release method, too.

    • +2

sweet soy sauce chicken drumsticks goes well in it.

  • What is the cheapest using this one over electricity or old style one over gas?

    • +1

I think gas is cheaper, but this seems safer as there is a timer

  • +1

How long does it take to cook say a chicken with one of these?

    • less than 1 hour

  • how long to cook rice?

mi always get complaints that the current rice cooker takes 45 mins to cook two cups of rice >_<

    • +1

Wow even a microwave does it in like 25mins

    • +1

That's ridiculous.. Even my crappy 4 year old rice cooker does it in 20mins

    • Late answer:

My rice (usually jasmine, or basmati) is done in 5 and half minutes. And that's with the Pot in Pot method (ie. I place my rice and water in a smaller pot, and then place it in the pressure cooker - I'm a lazy guy, I hate washing up the big bulky pressure cooker); I'd dare say if you cook it in the pressure cooker itself, you'd shave it down to 4 minutes.

    • I'm going to give it time, they might not have adjusted the price yet?

    • Check this

      • -3

the link in your original post shows $99 https://www.target.com.au/p/bellini-btprc25-6l-pressure-cook…

      • For some reason this price does not show when going through the Target site - either by the link you posted or when searching for the product on the site, it still shows as $99.

However, if I go through Lasoo (thanks for the heads up), the correct price of $59 is shown. Here is the link - https://www.target.com.au/p/bellini-btprc25-6l-pressure-cook…

I purchased one using the link I posted and it all went through OK. Thanks OP.

Edit: All links are working now

      • Price now changed to $59 in the main website. Bought 2 units with no problem. Thanks OP.

  • No, it has changed.

    GO, GO, GO AND GO!

  • 79 this morning to just under 35 units. It's going fast lol

    18 left…

    8 left…

    GONE!

  • Damn. Just missed it. Saw it go 1 to none :(

  • +2

I just bought one at Canberra Civic there about 18 left. Hope Canberrans will love this cooker making hot winter soup to beat the cold :-)

  • +1

Bought one and just made the tastiest risotto in it. You can brown meat using the Manual function! @303-Acid totally had me sold on it :)

  • +2

Is there an online way of determining store stock levels?

    • Send them a facebook message with the product link and which state you're in.

      • All good, got one reserved for me at Southland, VIC. Sorry, forgot to ask about stock levels when there picking it up today.

  • Plenty in stock at Target Chirnside Park when I went last night.

  • Heaps at Target Melbourne CBD as well

  • Thanks, got the last one at Chadstone VIC…

It can be used as a slow cooker of sorts as well, but it only has one temp setting so it's more like an electric pot with the lid off (or with the lid in the pressure off position)

It heats up pretty quickly (1000W)…and the inner pot is removable to really easy to clean.

Tefal/Seb and Fissler Pressure Cookers are inevitably better but Fisslers cost like $400+ for the 6L models…

  • +1

Went to target and it's back at $99

  • +1

Impressed…bought day 1 and have been using everyday since. 10min for mash potato..1 hour for slow cooked meals

    • Did you pay 99 please?

  • Love the pressure cooker, meat falls off the bone in 30 minutes, quiet, fantastic purchase!
