          Retail prices change with every new variant. From what I can tell, the 8300 is a newer release than the 8000, so wasn't like they came out at the same time, 8300 came out in the next model batch.

          Comes down to which reviews better or which has the better features for the $$ spend. I don't think you'd know if you didn't go into a store to compare :/

          @albanyson: I'd either wait or make sure you use a credit card with price protection/insurance. The Sony Tv was $999 during the sony.com.au Easter sale and that was their third discount on that model since January.

          @Oversimplified: the 8300C has a football button. I didn't read the book but I guess it ups its innards for faster pace.

          From the reviews I read, you don't want a 50hz TV in general.

          The 8300 is far superior in this particular case.

      I have it for few weeks now. Love it. Much faster than the previous "B" version. Limited play store.

      Backlit, a lot nicer picture than edge imho. Would buy it again without much thinking.

      I have one in my bedroom. Nice TV.
      It was easy to set up and use. I read reviews about things not working to do with the remotes but when i set it up, it updated itself for nearly an hour and the remotes work great.

    What do you guys think, is this Sony worth the extra $400ish compared to the Samsung UA48J6200AW (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/248233) thats on sale for $716?       Samsung is FHD, Sony is UHD. Depends what you prefer. If you're in the market, probably best to get UHD for 'not much more' if you're gonna keep it for a couple of years
