JVC 65" 4K UHD LED LCD TV - $1116 @ The Good Guys eBay

350
COLLECT

I just bought this TV a few days ago and for a 4K tv at $1384 was still a good deal but now with 20% off comes down to $1116. This tv is not a smart TV so for all of you like me that use a media centre anyway, save your $2k and buy a non-smart 4k 65 inch tv for a third of the price what others are going for.

Use coupon code: "COLLECT" at checkout to apply the 20% off

Enjoy

  • please correct title. not 65 feet. Why so common?

    • +1

      Cheers, fixed

      • +7

Funny how there are only two things still measured in inches here. I guess hence the confusion.

        • +3

          TV and rims?

  • I cannot find any reviews for this TV. wondering if the picture quality is good and upscaling. I plan to put a chromecast on this so Smart features does not matter

    • +2

I couldn't find any either but happy to say I was pleasantly surprised. Upscaling is excellent with 1080 video looking far better on this than my FHD tv

      • Thanks for the post - lots of screen realestate for the price. What FHD were you comparing it to just out of interest. Im looking to replace an old but good 48" sony - dont expect this to be as good but still tempted.

        • +1

LG 55" FHD LED 3d smart tv, can't remember the model number exactly

        • @maddy86: Thanks

    • Chromecast has its limitations. But you can also use a blu-ray player which does the smarts in the same way as a smart-TV. Just no UHD Netflix yet.

  • don't really care about 4k as my parents don't watch any of that.
tossing between this and the Full HD Sony 65inch android TV. which is $1760

  • sound is apparently RUBBISH - see goodguys website reviews 2/10 for sound

    • +18

When was the last time you heard a TV with good native sound?? Bezels are just too thin these days.
I can never understand this criticism …

      • +2

normally we connect speaker with TV actually

      • -2

understand or dont, it is the case. Also there is no digital audio out.

        • Even via hdmi arc?

        • +3

Correction, there is no optical out but there is digital coaxial out, which I am using

    • +7

People buying 65" sets and larger couldn't give a damn about sound. The speakers in my 65" Panasonic get used about once or twice a year for 20 minutes, when I have a laugh to see what Free to Air TV is still doing.

      • LOL! Same here. I watched some last night, they've really pumped up the fear these days…. 'Our worst nightmare…. A nuclear weapon… in the hands of… terrorists'. Please! Take my rights away to protect me!!

        • Cos you know, its on tv and therefor it must be true. Scare and rape us of our liberties. Unfortunately the mainstream sheep follow

  • The link to the original deal is wrong

  • just wonder who can find the manual for this one? even can't see it on JVC website ….

    • No luck either … would love to review prior to purchase. Dont know if it supports arc (as you wouldnt want to use the built in speakers from all accounts).

      • Don't know about arc but I am using digital coaxial audio out, sounds pretty good to me

  • Some reviews would be really good but theyre way too hard to find for non-brand named TVs.

JVC is NOT the JVC we used to know, it's now a chinese knock off company, same as SoniQ and all these crap generic brands. Do not buy. If u really want cheap chinese, the only good one is Hisense

    • +2

A little harsh … yes its generic and not the 80's JVC, however, some of the US models I found whilst trying to find this one had reasonable writeups - esp when customising the display. Given its about 1/3rd of the price of other UHDs its a tradeoff.

  • any help, comparing TCL vs JVC ?

    • TCL is probably the best generic brand out there right now.

      • 3 year warranty

        • +2

Warranty means nothing these days. Under Aus Consumer Law you're covered for 3-5 years with TV's, irrelevant of brand name.

          @tomski182:
          Yeah, don't I know.

The reseller Retravision tried to offer me the lower model when my 5600 model developed a line of dead pixels.
TCL were all pretty good about it, but the retailer was a nightmare.
Took weeks for them to say it can't be repaired (TCL and the repair/service agent had already said that) and then they offered me a lower model when they said they didn't have the model I had anymore….so I refused that and asked for my money back.
Eventually got it…..and was told by the owner to not go back to the store again.

Pays to quote the ACL when required.

hisense and tcl work in tv field for 30 years, both are big brands and got great reputation in China. unfortunately, in oz they are considered same to kogan/soniq's product…. in this case, only the JVC logo belongs to JVC….

  • There are reviews because it's not a JVC TV. As others have noted it's a rebadged no name.

For that reason no audio/video mag or site will go near it.

Your only hope is if anyone has bought it and left their own reviews.

    • Which should tell you all you need to know about this lemon.

      • +1

Yep, wouldn't recommend it if you were a tv aficionado. For someone like me who doensn't watch a lot of movies and tv and occasionally plays games its fine. Have tried 4k and HD movies as well as GT6 on Playstation and works to probs. Audio sucks so needs speakers

  • Interesting discussions around which is the best of the 'cheaper brands'. Hisense and TCL seem to be better but have read lots of bad things about the Hisense (time taken to turn on/change stations, smart features terrible) - but for the price, as long as picture quality is decent, I'd say that's worth it for the price reduction.

  • What refresh rate is this TV?

Does it look smooth with sport/games etc?

    • +2

120Hz I believe, it looks reasonable enough to watch. I don't watch a huge amount of tv but it does the job without stutter. I wouldn't compare it to the likes of a Sony though. Also audio is pretty bad so I would definitely recommend using speakers.

      • Hi maddy just wondering if you have the package dimensions, cant find them anywhere!

  • +2

    Jo beth likes jvc

  • A big thanks to Maddy for the reviews. Unless they come up with a good 60" as part of their nightly sales I may go with this one.

  • +2

I have this TV and just incase anyone is interested I can confirm some details.
The screen is edge lit LED and has some obvious light bleeding.
    HDMI 1/2 are HDMI 1.4 (4k@30hz) HDMI 3 is 1.4 (No 4K support) and HDMI 4 is HDMI 2.0 (4k@60hz)
USB plays back media but I haven't had any files successfully be supported yet.
ARC is available on HDMI 2, no optical out but has coax and headphone out.
Picture is nice, very sharp at 4k.
Ideal TV for someone who wants a 4K TV to use with a home theatre sound system and doesn't care about smart TV functions as you could just use your Apple TV/Chromecast/PC/raspberry pi/XBMC device etc.

    • Thanks … still contemplating this one for the current ebay sale even though the price has increased.

      • Yeah, but $1196 for this tv is a steal even if it has been cheaper previously. Its listed at $1999 in-store on display.
