Megaman legacy collection:

Review:
I typically dont like IGN but this time they are feeding into my confirmation bias:

PS4

X1:

I bought two :D (of the ps4 version, one for a sibling).

Decent price — I cant find these for less than $40 AUD (gamesmen/mightyape).

Fishpoop has it for $40
http://www.fishpond.com.au/Toys/Mega-Man-Legacy-Collection-C…

Still a saving of $5

  • Still seems fairly expensive for non-local stock?

    • Im not sure that local stock of this actually exists, all fishpoop, gamesmen and mightyape versions are tagged as US imports.

Not to be a bother or anything, but apparently the Gamecube / PS2 Megaman collection had more Megaman games packed in, im not sure if thats true or not, just something i heard.

Not sure how much they go for, just thought id post as some might already have that collection apparently, which they can play on Wii or PS3.

    • +1

Indeed you are correct (well partially) the Gamecube and PS2 versions have more (and more popular) games packed in, you are referring to :
      Megaman Anniversary Collection
      And
      Megaman X Collection

But given the vintage, I think it puts it out of most peoples reach (I think also the price of the GCN and the availability will put it out of people's reach)

If you want to play it on the go (and feel like handing in your OzBargainer license), the 3DS version is ~$80.46 ($58.48 USD) delivered.

The collector's edition also comes with a gold Megaman amiibo, which is unreleased in Australia.

    • +3

Yes, but 3DS games are region locked, you will need a 3DS from the states to play it.

      • +1

Oh yeah, forgot about that. Definitely the most expensive amiibo figure there is!

        • +1

Agree, that and the gold/silver mario ones are worth a mint..

am i doing something wrong?cant add to cart, says for prime members only

    • +2

Don't think so, looks like this deal is for prime members only.

      "Exclusively for Prime Members
This item at $18.93 is reserved for Prime members. Details"

      • +1

You can become a prime member for free, just take up the trial, go to account and cancel the trial and you're a full member for one month. No strings attached.

  • +3

Digital copy is $22.95 direct from PlayStation store. $22.75 from xbox marketplace.

    • Thanks, so easier and cheaper grabbing that then.
I assume enough mean the Australian store.

    • You mean the US store don't you? Still good for me!

      • +1

Australian store for both and price is in aud not usd.

  • Cripes, this wasnt Prime only. I bought non prime.

    • You are saying it was actually available as a non Amazon Prime item?

      • Thats correct — it seems to have shifted to prime. I am not a prime member and ordered this a few days ago. When I first saw it — it was a prime item, then both shifted to non prime. It seems to have gone back to prime, I would hazard it will be a non prime item again.

Just be aware that this is a bare bones release, no extras, even the achievements/trophy's stink IMHO. They also went through the painstaking attention to deal to emulate the flickering, slowdown and visual bugs from the original. If that's your thing great, but I would have preferred a silky smooth bug free experience personally or at least the option to choose between!

I should also mention this is $14.99 US on steam and is begging for a sale price soon.

    • An HD version of X / Legacy collection would have gone down a treat. But I will take what I can get, this was a classic when I was growing up, even if I dont play it, its one of those pieces you have on the shelf "just cause".

Edit: Agree on the ability to toggle between versions.

wont the amazon versions be NTSC and not work in aus?

    • Both X1 and PS4 are region free.
