Microsoft Surface Pro 4 i5 256GB 8GB RAM A $1,679.00 Delivered @ DWI

100

I was searching a deal for Surface pro 4 in the internet and found out this one is the cheapest. MS store is selling at 1,999. Might be Grey Import as they have local 12 month warranty by themselves? At least you still have some local support as it's a .au site with local CS number…They are also selling Microsoft Surface Pro 4 i5 128GB at 1319 AUD which is also the cheapest at this stage(I know I missed out the 20% off deal in Ebay before but it's over)

The only thing beware is they charge 2% for paypal by creditcard…still cheapest adding this in.

Their review in OZbargain looks OK?

  • Good price on a fantastic piece of kit. Got mine at launch and haven't regretted it, now is a good time to buy as they've ironed out a lot of the issues with the drivers.

  • I'm assuming you can't claim TRS since it's grey import?

    • no

    • I don't think you can claim TRS. Their invoice to me has no tax component.

  • At M$ site, price cut as well $1799.1, only $120 difference…. but if you do TRS, then cheaper…

  • +1

They have improved and I'll consider buying one if the batteries last as long as an iPad and Microsoft includes the keyboard in the purchase price.

  • If it is grey import, just wondering, how do they sell it without GST if the item is worth more than $1,000? I assume item located overseas. Do they slip it through customs by not declaring the value correctly?

    • +1

The buyer pays gst when product goes through custom.

      • +2

thanks, if that is the case, then there should be some warnings adding to this deal, as it is too risky

  • Had a quick online chat with DWI, they say GST is taken care of.

    • LOL without further detail I wouldn't bet on it. Our diligent "Border Force" are always on the lookout to see how they can screw the little guy to fill the government's coffers.

  • The price isn't that good? E.g. if you can get the academic pricing (which JB usually matches without any evidence) that brings it down 10% (which is basically the price here plus GST - which you'll likely have to pay as import duty).

Compnow are doing an academic "bundle" with the type cover for $1,859:

I salary sacrificed mine, so I got the GST back, making it cheaper than this DWI deal.

    • For the online store in your link, are you sure you wont be asked to provide evidence that you are part of an Education Facility? If you are cheating them in providing fault proof, I don't think it's with less risk than got caught of 10% GST by the "Border Force"… Well if you are really a school student, go for the better dal lo.

      • Get JB to price match the online store. JB Hifi has frequently given OzBargainers the academic discount - particularly if you bring a school-aged kid with you. There's no system for checking and validating, except possibly they might ask to see a student card if they're diligent about it. So the only "risk" is getting refused the discount.
