      I can't see how this can be a bargain then….if elsewhere provides the same product for the same price as standard. This 'special' is just bringing them, (temporarily), into line with the competition's regular pricing…..

      'bargain', to me, means cheaper than elsewhere

      assuming of course this is 'standard' HDMI cable, not spun from the threads of golden spiders and 'shielded' in leather, expertly tooled by artisans, from unicorn skin

      more people who don't understand that HDMI cable basically works or doesn't.

      With digital cable, don't bother comparing picture quality!!! Its a bit like buying a USB cable for your camera and then comparing color depth in the pictures that show on your pc

    Cheap cables are always welcome. Anyone know anywhere that sells cheap HDMI v1.4 cables yet? Are they physically any different from HDMI 1.3 or just "certified" for V1.4 while remaining electrically identical? I just got myself a nice new TV and Bluray player that are both 1.4 capable and just want to make sure i won't be crippling it by using an older cable.

      The specification has existed for about a year, but there isn't any consumer application for it - yet. So no, you won't be crippling anything by using an older cable.

      Unless your new TV and Blu-ray player are 3D-capable, there's no advantage in 1.4.

      Something like that? They're pretty expensive for what they are… You'll need something that supports HDCP & whichever HDMI spec your equipment uses.

      They're called, as you said, HDMI splitters :)
