Have not Tried the Three Berry but the Strawberry and boysenberry flavours of Anothoth are in my opinion the best supermarket Jam I've ever eaten. I always have a jar of the Strawberry at home!
and all flavours are on special. I think the sale ends tonight though as it was from last weeks catalog.
I think the Three Berry is the best of the range.
Agreed that it's the best commercial Jam.
It's not even a competition.. other jams are jelly with some fruit (maybe) these are fruit, water and sugar.. Just like jam you'd make on the stove at home (my Mum and Gran used to make jam exactly the same way).3 berry is just as awesome as their other jams. apricot is amazing too.
Plus one on the Boysenberry. It's the business.
Heads up. ALL Anathoth jam varieties on the same special.
NO BOYSENBERRY ONLINE!!! ARRRGGGGHHH!!!
Big fans of the kiwi jams over here. Their fruit is more likely to be sourced locally than imported due to their better berry-growing climate. Be careful though, it makes me speak funny every time I eat it…
Only the 3 berry says New Zealand fruit.
All the other ones are imported mostly from China I think.
Check the added sugar content in these. Its about 50% fruit from memory which is the same as cottees and others. Id prefer a higher fruit content personally and find the coles brand better than this (and contains 75% fruit) and still cheaper than $3.
I wonder why you were voted down. Was it that the Coles jam tastes terrible, or whether the 25% sugar doesnt stimulate their pancreas enough? Would be nice to know.
BTW in NSW this is only a $2.50 saving. Wonder why Melb has to pay 50c more normally. (I assume as the poster is from Melb, thats the case)
Lol, he's a South Aussie like Cosi
It's $5.00 in Melbourne stores as well. $5.50 is the online price for home delivery.
Most home made old school jam recipes will state 50/50 fruit to sugar. Which is the same as these.
Copied straight from coles website:
Sugar 65.2g/100g
Higher amount compared to St dalfour.
Definitely not a healthy way to eat your bread.WTF?
So 65% of the gross weight is actually sugar??
I didn't know sugar is THAT soluble.
DAMN.Anothoth use 50% fruit and 50% sugar (by weight) which is the same as the traditional home made jam recipe. Ripe fruit contains a fair amount of sugar (mostly fructose). When the jam is made, some of the water that was in the fruit is boiled off which concentrates the amount of sugar. The 65% weight is the total sugars both from the fruit and added. This is par for the course for jam.
@trongy:
Thanks for clarifying. I probably shouldn't eat any jam whatsoever from now. Vegemite here I come!
It's got New Zealand plastered all in large print on the packaging, but in small print, words to the effect that best endeavours to use New Zealand fruit but may supplement when needed with Chinese fruit. This is on the Strawberry one anyway, didn't check the Apricot one I also bought.
may supplement when needed with Chinese fruit.
The stewing process will kill all the E.coli anyway… So enjoy…
mmm .. chinese dingleberries
Are you sure it says Chinese? Mine (strawberry and raspberry) says Chile
Mine says Chile. —实力打脸 XD
Sweet !!!
a little sour too…
Thanks. Just so others are aware, this is current catalogue so expires tonight doesn't it?
They have a lemon curd as well. I picked one up and the strawberry jam earlier today.
Wish I had seen this earlier. This jam is great.
Jam right it is!
Just had a strawberry jam sandwitch with this stuff.. was excellent!
Was she upset?
I always have a jar of their Strawberry Jam at home…. by far the best jam EVER :).
Never on sale though :(.
any reviews?
