Bought Too Much Alcohol for an Event - Options for Selling/Returning?

Recently I had to cater for an event, the event was originally quoted with a specific number of alcoholic beverages per person. In the end the organizers wanted double the amount of alcohol that had been quoted. So in the end I went with their request and supplied a large amount of alcohol.

As a result I now have a number of unopened slabs of beer totaling just over $400 in value.

I will be compensated for this purchase theirs no issue there, and yes it is exciting that I basically procured a heap of beer for free but unfortunately I already brew my own beer so I would never get around to drinking it all.

This beer was purchased from Dan Murphys in the past week, would I be able to return it? Their website is semi-vague but from what I can gather I cant.. But if anyone has had an experience in this i'd love to hear it.

If not, should I sell it? If so, how on earth do I sell it?

Cheers in advance.

I was told they return spirits, why not go in store and ask them if you have the receipt.

  • Should be able to return it with a receipt without any issue.

I've returned alcohol to Dan Murphy before - too many bottles of champagne purchased for a Xmas do. Just bring it in with the receipt and the card you paid for it on if you used a card.

    • This is what I wanted to hear! I'll give it a go. Cheers!

      • I haven't specifically done it at Dan Murpy's but some stores will also accept visual confirmation of an electronic transaction in place of a reciept eg. you show them the transaction record in your bank's app.

  • Post it on OzBargain Classifieds

    • You weren't swayed to deliver and accept 66% of the purchase price from GnarlyKnuckles ?
