If I buy the TV with 5 year warranty, any idea who will cover the damage or assist me with the repair, if a damage was to occur in the 4th year?
Preorder
I don't think there is any rule against presale deals, but OP should definitely update the post to state this.
Kogan quality
It's a 41.5" 4K TV for $300 delivered. Your expectations may be a bit high :P
Kogan, Dick Smith, Bauhn, Soniq, etc. are all pretty much the same just with a different badge.
Normal price
I've not seen a similar TV at this price point.
Kogan presale prices have always been lower than their normal selling prices so I don't see why it would be any different on the Dick Smith side of their operation.
Normal price for this will probably end up being ~$400.
dse wanted 599 last year for this 4k tv
then it went down to 469, 399, and finally rested at about 350 for a short time
it rose again to 469 with a free chromecast but the whole ordeal i had with the akai for 469 was a joke so settled for dse quality instead
I bought one
good for the money
its cheap junk BUT
good image quality
60hz via hdmi 2.0 i own a gtx 970
gaming wasn't too bad
panel is made by innolux
the built in media player is shite but via hdmi top quality panel
only does 4.2.0 at 8bpp
for the $$$ okay
buy it but not for text based browser usage
I plan to get one of these as a monitor for my PC as I have a GTX 970 too.
How does it look at 1920x1080 in games? I plan to use it in 4K for multitasking but run games at 1080P.
Can you play games at 1440P (2K) 2560x1440 using this TV?
I plan to use it in 4K for multitasking but run games at 1080P.
It's not gonna be pretty for desktop use as it only does 8-bit 4:2:0

Is this actually a 4k tv, the Dicksmith and the Kogan brand both have these specifications 1280x1024 @ 60Hz, 1366x768 @ 60Hz, 1920x1080 @ 60Hz, I don't see any 4k resolution?? Had anyone actually got one to tell me if these specs are not correct.
must be otherwise they couldn't write 4K, their website probably hasn't yet that option to add a higher resolution to the list..
correct
does the 4k resolution on my gtx970 fine
manual is wrong
I think you'll find it's listed as "VGA Input Supported Resolutions", and lists the two lines from 640x480 up to 1920x1080. This is limited to what any VGA port (That blue monitor plug older PC's use) can accept, which is much less than 4K. The HDMI supported resolutions aren't listed, but one would presume it would accept 4K via HDMI in some capacity.
Has anyone set this up with a chromecast 2, does it work well on wifi ? i noticed there is no lan which kinda sucks so im hoping the chromecast will be able to keep up with 1080p or at minimum 720p from a Samsung s6 or s7 ???? Advice ?
its not a smart tv
your chromecast has the built in wifi
i have a gen 1 chromecast and it works fine
i suggest you buy a good ac router
tp link / asus
plugged in now it handles all content fine
no hassles yet
Well aware its not STV which is why i mentioned the Chromecast 2 as its suppose to handle wireless much better with less interference.
I dont have options for routers as ive got a Optus Cable modem, however i probably could get some sort of extender or something if its too far i guess ? I just didnt want to go down this road if it was gonna play choppy and all that.
I'm considering getting this T.V… Does anyone know any good media/streaming boxes or sticks that support 4K Netflix?
The soon to be available Samsung 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Player does. It'll initially cost more than the TV.
But I'm holding out for Samsung's 98" 8K TV
Do you know of anything like an Apple TV/chrome cast device that supports 4K?
Probably a dumb question, but buying this TV is buying a TV from Kogan, right? That is, I'm not buying from the old dick smith that went under and could be throwing away money, right?

Dick is no more, this is Kogan.
Cheers bro. Ordered. Thanks for posting, I hope it doesn't take them too long to do the same!
Instead of watching TV, maybe you should all visit your mother, and if you don't have one, adopt one at the local senior citizens.
Just putting it up the flagpole…
Instead of watching TV, maybe you should all visit your mother,
Also instead of posting on ozbargain …..
Exactly.
Instead of watching TV, you could all spend your time posting on OB instead.
these TV's have very poor picture quality. Remember guys "the poor man always pays twice"
Even Dick Smith 1.0's going out of business sale had their old 2014 stock of 40 inch UHD TVs going for $390ish. This price is pretty amazing.
their old 2014 stock of 40 inch UHD TVs going for $390ish.
My friend bought a Seiki 65" UHD from Dick for around $400.
Personally, I don't think I would ever touch the DickSmith brand. It was no surprise that most of the Dicksmith brand items were still sitting in the Dicksmith stores on their last days.
This would be nice for a 3x 4k Nvidia Surround/AMD Eyefinity setup. 11520x2160! o_O
The new gen GPUs can't come sooner…
Looks like they are now charging for delivery.
Has anyone received this yet?
Nope, no shipping notification either. Might call them next week.
Got an email today apologising for the delay, and offering a $25 Dick Smith voucher as compensation. Fair enough then, if they've acknowledged it and tried to make amends I'm happy. Hopefully it doesn't take more than a week or two though!
Nope, website says expected dispatched 07/07/16, but no email received yet to confirm dispatch or provide any tracking number.
voucher received thank dse
I have a Kogan for my Caravan. Poor quality visuals and difficult to adjust image/colour/brighness quality. Never again.
