  • So this is much quicker to receive the e-gift card than cashRewards?

    • Allow up to 24 hours for delivery of eGift Card.

Most likely it will be the same. Although I never have to wait too long, maybe a few hours.

    • +1

It'd be the same as it's the same site to order from.

Time to receive seems to depend on how difficult the order is and amount

  • +2

This is really the normal price for a gift card. There are many ways to get them. Motoring club - rack, nrma, etc. Entertainment book. Groupon, etc.

    • -6

Cashrewards link is easiest and fastest..
      No middleman.

      • Cashrewards link and Op link aren't the same?

        • -2

They are, but cashrewards link doesn't require a promo code

        • +3

          @cwongtech: Cashrewards is the middleman.

        • @ronnknee:

In terms of buying the eGift card, it goes to the same website in this post directly. I mean no one handles the transaction apart from Woolworths, unlike Groupon.

        • @cwongtech: Yes, so does Entertainment Book.

      • +6

no middleman? everydaygiftcards.com.au IS woolworths. cashrewards is a middleman just skimming your spending

        • Have you used the CR woolworths link before buddy?
          It redirects to https://everydaygiftcards.com.au/wowmoney/giftcards/member_l…
It's pretty much the same as this deal apart from no promo code.

cashrewards is a middleman just skimming your spending

I mean in reference to Groupon.. CR/This post will be the same speed in terms of gift card issuance.

cashrewards is a middleman just skimming your spending

Please tell me how they're skimming my spending, are you telling me I pay extra when I use them?

        • @cwongtech: You pay $95 for $100 eGift. Part of that $95 (like maybe $5) goes to Cashrewards.

        • @ronnknee:

So am I paying extra to Cashrewards?
Or am I saving money by using CR link?

How is this deal different to using the CashRewards link in terms of delivery of product? (both use the wowmoney portal, the Groupon one doesn't)
I'm not saying it's bad, I'm just saying it's the exact same in value for the consumer. One gives a small margin (yeah right, $5) to CashRewards team and has no expiry of 8th May, doesn't require a promo code (requires login), this deal does not give a small margin to CR team, but has an expiry of 8th May, with an extra step of a promo code.

        • @cwongtech: I'm just clarifying what mtg could be saying. You better ask him yourself.

        • cashrewards is a middleman just skimming your spending

So is Entertainment book I guess by your logic

      • +4

        CR is the middleman.

CR is a business after all, and they make quite a healthy commission from click-through sales, a percentage of which is sometimes passed on to the customer as a cashback amount.

        • True but in the case of Wish gift cards you pay 95% of the face value so no worrying about cash backs. I hear they actually pay you now and then, not seen it happen yet.

        • +1

sometimes passed on to the customer

I see what you did there! Hahaha good one mate

        • @Diji1:

you pay 95% of the face value so no worrying about cash backs.

Exactly.. not sure why people are negging me when CR Wow eGift card link does the exact same thing as this without a promo code [that will expire]

  • thanks!

  • +3

I wonder what percent Cash Rewards make as the middleman during there regular 5% offer.

It must be tiny you would think but given the volume, highly lucrative?

    • +3

Please explain the negs?? I am not going to commit suicide or anything so I love an anonymous neg but it was a genuine question.

      • I have now further brainstormed my own question.

Maybe it is a flat rate per click no matter the $value of gift cards purchased?

  • -1

Wish cards are available from Groupon as well, same price $95 for $100 gift card and also 5% cashback - http://www.groupon.com.au/deals/gg-woolworths-limited-29

    • good deal! thx mate.

    • +1

Cashback not applicable when purchasing gift cards

And have to wait longer than this deal

    • +1

Details from CR: Cashback is currently NOT payable on ANY Gift Cards or eGift Cards purchased through Groupon.
      Almost got me!

      • After the last debacle with Groupon last year? No thanks.

        OOPS! Attached wrong place!

  • YA5%OWCP (Yet Another 5% Off WishCards Post).

Now if someone posts a 5% off Coles Myer cards, then I'll get excited!

    • Yep. It's the only thing stopping me switching to Coles. I get 10% of EVERYTHING I buy from Woolies. Food, booze, petrol, hardware (extra 5% for trade card) - everything.

      • To clarify: The last two times there have been 10% off Big W gift cards we bought 3k each time. We got the Amex Dan Murphy deal 4 times, we have six Groupon accounts, etc, etc. We then use these every time we shop.

We have just received a 'Mother's Day' targeted promo through Flybuys for 1000 flybuys on a 100 Coles Mastercard gift card. (which equates to 5% off.) We have until May 18 to buy as many as we want. We will probably buy 30 to 50 of these.

        • Wouldn't the $5 purchase free cancel out the discount?

        • @JIMB0:
Text from email: 1,000 BONUS POINTS when you purchase a $100 Coles Gift MasterCard at Coles Supermarket or Coles Express*

Nowhere in the email does it mention a 'card fee'. When you go online it adds $5 but I thought that was for the registered delivery. Does a card bought in store have the same charge?? If so, why would anyone buy such a gift card??

        • @bigspike:
Most, if not all of these general use gift cards have a purchase fee, otherwise the store wouldn't get any benifit out of selling them (unlike their own giftcards which will bring you back into their store where they will get their money back from their own margins), plus it cost money to produce and sell them.

        • @JIMB0:
Thanks for the heads up. I will be back to Woolies then until I can find a Coles discount. Why pay 105% of face value. Westfield cards don't do that do they? The only plus I can see is dodging the card fee by using it for Tiger flights.

        • @bigspike:
The Westfield cards have a $5.95 "activation fee" when purchased at Woolworths. Although some rewards programs do sell them at a discount to face value and without the fee.

Coles don't sell Westfield cards or accept them as payment.

        • @JIMB0:
Cheers. The only deal then for the Coles card is if you use it to avoid Tiger card fees. Save a lot more than the 5 Bucks activation.
