Apparently more grip when you break it in a bit.
Noob question what the difference to Spalding ball in Kmart?
Rubber vs leather.
Good question I was sitting here thinking Spalding was a cheap supernarket brand.
Great price, takes forever to break these in though.
Are these really leather? Picture looks just like the rubber basketballs I used at high school. In no way did they feel or look like leather, and they were way heavier than a soccer ball I had which really was cowhide.
Yes it's leather. Same ball they use for the NBA
Thanks for the link to Amazon reviews. Reading the 1-star reviews, many people say "not leather". The top-rated critical review says "this is a leather ball with a protective coating, like an orange polyurethane". Several say "lopsided" and "doesn't bounce straight".
I had the same thoughts when my friend bought his last year. Felt hard, felt a bit like plastic more than rubber. Was really hard to grip compared to the composite leather types like the molten gf7.
It's been 6 months or so and its really softened up and feels really good to play with. Guess like any other leather item, you just got to use it more to soften it
How do these compare to the top flight 1000?
I've never been a fan of the tf1000, if its a bit wet, its pretty slippery. Also it has more padding it seems underneath the outer lining.
If anything its closer to the feel of a molten ball to me but not quite.
Man I'm hopeless with these balls, I need something with more grip. #thatswhatshesaid.
