I would think this is a good price for the Specs even if its refurbished.

My soniq tv went dud after 2 years
My Soniq tv went dud after 2 years. Also being online, to claim warranty is bit of hassle that's why I bought 48'' FHD from target for $399 with 3 years warranty. So if anything goes wrong i can just drop it to the store.
Hey bud, what do you think of the Target Platinum one? I've been eyeing off the same model… would use predominantly for console gaming, maybe some movies for the kids too. What do you use it for and how does it perform with picture + sound?
I am quite happy with this purchase as picture quality is good and three years warranty withe Target is a peace of mind. I a not a big gamer but i mainly use my surface 3 via hdmi to browse, netflix tv shows n movies. I did play asphalt 8 windows store game and it was not bad with no lag. I put my review on here
Much thanks!
Interesting comments. I've got a 48 incher FHD Soniq as well (not a smart TV) that ive had for a couple of years and i have had no issue. The biggest problem i found is there's only one audio output - ONE, optical. That's it. Ridiculous. And the sound of course is utter garbage so you need a cheap soundbar to go with it. But yeah mine's been fine, no issues, although admittedly, it doesn't get much use so perhaps it will go kerplunk in the future as others have said?
Split the audio away with a hdmi switch before it gets to the tv =)
I've had a Soniq 42" refurb ($159) for 18 months now and it hasn't missed a beat. I upgraded it to a (Soniq off-brand) BEXA 50" ($359) - colour is a little banded/muddy in dark scenes and a slight audio offset, but aside from that, it's also running fine.
SONIQ Confidence 18 month warranty,not 2 years
Don't touch SONIQ Refurbs. We did a big buy on OzBargain about a year ago and it was a complete nightmare. Most of them arrived damaged and were probably damaged before they even sent them out, and they were a complete nightmare to deal with. Never again.
Isn't that what a refurb is?
I'm talking Damaged as in unusable. Not a few scratches here or there. A refurb is supposed to be repaired up to resaleable quality. Nobody would buy a broken TV.
Here I just found the link: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/166516
Covered by warranty/insurance, also this could be the couriers and not Soniq themselves.
@Lukian: no mate, they just slapped everything into boxes without any padding or checking for faults first, I picked up in person so mine was already faulty. Warranty was a pain, took about a month for a refund by memory. I would only buy a Soniq from JB due to their high failure rate and JB's return policy. This is one of those times where it is too good to be true on paper and you will regret it if you don't heed my warning because you were too excited by the price.
My first refurb was smashed in the box. The second lasted two weeks. steer clear!
Both covered under warranty..
If you don't mind waiting months to sort it with constant phone calls meanwhile you are out a tv because you don't know if they will force another refurb onto you out else drag the refund out longer
Both a fight to the death.
If you're stupid enough to buy this trash brand then you deserve everything coming to you. Even the reps are even banned on here until next year for posting utter shit.
Thats a bit harsh. I wanted a cheap 3rd TV for the kids. Must be some king of stupid idiot to expect a company to have some decency about them.
Does JB HiFi still stock Soniq products?
JB HiFi pretty much produce the brand?
waste of money, these TV's blow
