LG G4 Bought from QD eBay in October 2015 Has Died on Me

Hi there folks,

So the LG G4 purchased from Quality Deals has all of the sudden decided to restart itself continuously and now it has died.

I emailed QD on Ebay asking for assistance and to see if I can start the warranty process and to see what they can do for me. I don't think i can dispute the raise a dispute in Paypal coz it's been yonks!

Other than that, what do you guys think i should do? Has anyone had any issues with QD Ebay Warranty?

Hoping for the best.

Thanks

I sent them another message today at 1.30pm and got a reply at 7.30pm so definitely worth sending them another message.

        • @notpotatoman:

Thanks! Finally got a reply with RMA number and have now sent it in… :)

        • @dfadkxk09:

Just got mine back fixed with free genuine battery and charger kit. Took about 1 month, happy with the end result given it wasn't their fault.

    • I'm on the same boat as you now. I just sent them an message via eBay lets see what they say.

Can you please tell me which email did you send to? Did you send via eBay or paypal email address?

      • i contacted them from the ebay contact process via the item.

        regards

        • From your reply it looks like it takes fours days for them to reply… That's crazy.

Were you able to wipe the phone before sending it back. I could not. I'm worry about they get my data while repairing

        • @neonlight: yes I was able to follow the hard reset process and wipe the phone
          http://www.hard-reset.com/lg-g4-hard-reset.html

It was one of the things I tried to do as troubleshooting too but that did not help. I was able to factory reset it but the boot loop issue was still there

        • @nawapb:
Thanks I will also hard reset it

        • @nawapb:

I just tried hard factory reset bootloop still kicks in when I wipe it. This is crazy. Can't even factory reset. I'm going to try freezing method and wipe it.

  • Just got the following message.

    Hi

Thank you for your confirmation. We have sent the product to your nominated address accordingly.

We understand that the excessive influx of the LG G4 problem have caused many of buyers to dissatisfy with the situation. This has been further been exacerbated by the delay from LG repairs. Please understand that the delay was temporary as we did not anticipate such a high amount of warranty request within a short period of time. Nevertheless, we still believe that we have the responsibility in keeping every customer satisfied. Given such, we will include a free and brand new LG G4 BCK-4800 battery kit to express our sincerest apologies for the inconvenience caused, and a 'thank you' for dealing with us patiently.

We hope our way of dealing with this disaster could still provide you with some confidence should you decide to shop with us again. If you are having any more questions. Please contact us and we will get back to you ASAP. Thank you.

    Kind regards

    QD RMA Department

    I really appreciate their sincerity.

    • Good to hear you're getting your phone back soon. How long were you waiting for?

  • My 29/09/15 QD-AU bought LG G4 just developed the dreaded boot loop issue tonight.
It just froze and then got stuck on the LG logo screen.
Removing the battery and inserting it just opens immediately to the LG logo.
Have contacted QD-AU, now joining the queue of everyone else

Any info on factory resetting the phone (wipe personal details) befor sending it back?

  • 509 serial number

  • Update: Just got my phone back today after a 3 month wait, although the wait time was long, I understand that the problem was no their fault and it was a nice gesture to include a free BCK-4800 Battery charging KIT to make up for the long wait.

    • 3 months!? oh man.. sounds like it's getting longer and longer.

  • The just received mine and sending back to lg. Probably will join the queue for another couple months

Submitted the shipping cost and just got the approval for the refund from PayPal

  • Hey guys, I bought a G4 in June 2015 and it died July 2016, 1 month outside of QD's stated 12 months, but I'm pretty sure this falls under ACCC's guidelines for defective goods since it's known manufacturing defect. So I'm going to try banging my head against the QD brick wall and see how it goes. Anyone got any advice?

    • No. QD isn't an Aussie seller so ACCC is completely irrelevant.

      • I sure hope your wrong! A little digging has found:

        Paypal says:

        Seller information
QUALITY DEALS AUSTRALIA PTY LTD ‏(qd_au‏)
        [email protected]

and ABN/ASN search comes up with:

        QUALITY DEALS AUSTRALIA PTY LTD
        ACN: 158562362
        ABN: 49158562362

    • QD-AU said in a reply to me that they must receive it back to them, before the 12 months, otherwise no warranty…..even though I'd been waiting some time for a contact from them with geberic questions I already answered, knowing they would ask if its been dropped or wet, beore yet more delayed replies before they finally gave an RMA number…..

Have done a PayPal return postage claim, waiting for approval, but happy it's hopeful based on the comment above.

Some comments on various threads said they received the battery charging pack, others have said they didn't

      • Have you sent the phone off to QD_AU yet? I encountered my issue yesterday and I'm scared that with all the time it takes to process, my phone won't reach it there within 12 months. My warranty runs out at end of month.

        • Sent off last weekend. On Saturday. No response from them yet……

They made a particular note that phone must arrive to them before the 12 month period, (regardless if you tried to contact them before hand and waited weeks for an RMA number, then postage time.

The reports of Kogan offering refunds and offers of a replacement phone ….the way QD-AU have been dealing with customers during the shambles…..quite a few people have been stung and I know I won't be buying from them again either.

Hope they respond quickly and issue the RMA number promptly. Regardless of me including photos, informing them it hasn't been wet or dropped, included the IMEI number, described the issue, (I've read a lot from other members here) I still had to reply to all their generic questions answering everything I'd already included in my initial contact, before they issued the RMA number……and this all takes time.
I took advice from one member here who suggested making a claim/complaint via eBay…. Which I did and then I finally got a reply quite soon after that. I suspect if I didn't, I'd still be waiting……
Let's hope they move quickly for you.

I'm not expecting my phone back anywhere before 2 months and maybe around 3.
I've also read the issue happens again after repair.

The bonus battery and charger as a way of apology maybor may not arrive and be included

        • @albanyson:
If I don't hear back in 3-4 days I might have to do what you did, going through the complaint route which seems to be higher priority for them. The idea of this issue happening AGAIN is awful which is saddening because I really enjoyed this phone, esp the great camera. As long as I get the RMA in the next 2 weeks then I should still be within the warranty period. I was reluctant to purchase a new phone but with how long the process takes then it seems like I must. Thank you for your quick and informative response.

        • @RandomAbuser:
I also had to buy a new one. Picked up a Moto G4 plus, from HN. Paid local B&M price, there's been some good China droids deals around on here lately and I think for the price of them, considering the lack of decent warranty for grey imports, I'm noticeably sticking with either cheap Chinese phones or forced to pay the local premium for immediate pick up.

Yeah, the LG G4 was a great phone….while it worked and set a high bench mark to compare to.
I sent the same message everyday, with no response, until I went through the eBay complaints section.

        • @RandomAbuser
You said it is happening again. Both cause by boot looping? So it wasn't fixed for the first time? The fix they did not solving the problem? Not look good.

        • Wrong person, but I believe the fix is not a permanent one as people on reddit have reported boot looping to occur after the "fix"

  • I am rather surprised, I've just received my tracking number and my phone should be arriving back on Tuesday, just over a month since it began bootlooping.

    02/08 - Phone begins bootlooping
03/08 - Sent first message, no reply
08/08 - Sent second message via eBay returns (1.36pm), six hours later (7.37pm) received a reply with RMA#
09/08 - Sent my phone (express parcel)
    No communication for 20 days
29/08 - Message received stating my phone has been fixed and ready for return, requesting delivery details
31/08 - Sent my delivery details (4.08pm), 3 hours later (7.29pm) received reply stating they will organise the delivery
01/09 - Tracking number received (via SMS)

No mention of a bonus battery or charger, probably because my wait time was very short compared to everyone else.

    • looking at the timeline i think they must have received my phone prior to yours so wondering what happened to mine. still no email

last email was on 09/08 confirming the receipt of the phone and advising it was sent to LG

      • Yeah no clue of why they processed my phone so quickly… not like I'm complaining though.

I received my phone back today via FedEx, a day earlier than estimated, along with the bonus battery charging kit too. So although QD has been copping quite a bit of flak I'm personally impressed and happy with their service.

        • Till it bootloops again after repair……(sadly it seems to be happening)

        • @albanyson:

My angst would be more directed to LG rather than QD then.

        • @notpotatoman: and yet LG still haven't done an acknowledgment of the fault on nearly all the LG G4 handsets and now the G5s too

  • QD-AU rejected delivery of my returned parcel to them and sent it back to the Aust post depot.
Was clearly marked with the RMA number and clearly addressed.
I sent them pictures of the parcel, the receipt, tracking number and post pack.
Australian post said it was declined and they took back to depot.

I contacted eBay, but was told to simply wait for the seller to contact me……the message from QD-AU that they MUST receive the phone back before end of warranty period (12 months) or its not covered…….

The 12 months expires in September.

    • They rejected your parcel?! Can they even do that. I just got an email from them asking if I have my tracking number (I don't). I see you purchased it on the 29/9/2015 so 22 days left.. Did you send via standard or priority post? Any idea when you'll get the returned parcel? I feel for you man, that is immensely frustrating.

      • Australia Post satchel with tracking and signature……..
I've since been told I could have paid extra for express…..i thought air mail would be quick.
        Posted on 27th Aug

  • Is anyone able to provide QD's Sydney address that the phones need to be sent to?
Is it a PO Box or a physical address?
Reason I ask is, I'm just worried that by the time they reply, my 12 month warranty period will be up (few weeks away).
So if it's a physical address I could maybe drop in personally just to speed up the process of simply getting an RMA number.
Once it's in their hands I'll be happy, not bothered if it takes a while, as long as they have it before the 12 months is up.

    • I had to send my phone to

      S6/391 Park Road
      Regents Park NSW 2143

      :)

    • Kelly Yang Unit 2 / 27 Leeds ST, Rhodes, NSW 2138

      • Thank you :)

      • Has Kelly just moved out? Previously the Rma was sent to her Regents park address.
Possibly albanyson got the parcel rejected during her changing address.

        • If your hypothesis is true then my package is also going to get bounced.
On the 05/09/2016 I was advised and posted it to
          Kelly Yang
          S6/391 Park Road
          Regents Park NSW 2143
My package doesn't even have a tracking number. What is going to happen if the delivery fails?

        • This address was given to me in May 2016, not sure if they are still there..

  • Here are details of my quest

    30/9/15 Purchased LG G4
14/7 Phone in endless reboot and emailed QD
    29/7 Got the RMA
    1/8 Phone off to QD
2/9 Notification that my phone will take longer to fix. Replacement phone offered
9/9 Received replacement phone and Battery charging kit.

All in all, I think QD's handling of claim is satisfactory may buy from them again.. But not sure about another LG phone.

Note: got a replacement phone with manufacturer date 05/15 while mine was 09/15.. Will see how this goes.

    • Is that a new lg G4 replacement?
Or probably a refurb stock with older manufacturer date. Hope not getting the boot loop on the replacement phone.

      • Looks like a refurb with older manuf date.

    • Bear in mind this is a serial number beginning with 505 which has quite a high tendency to fail. Make sure you get a daily backup app to avoid data loss.

  • Hey,

I bought the same phone from teh same supplier, when you bought it…….and I had the same issue….

But I had no drama's. They paid for return shipping, fixed phone and had it back to me within 4 weeks.

    • Almost bought from Kogan, then QD-AU came in a few dollars cheaper and I bought from them. Judging by the reports back on various threads, Kogan have been offering refund or replacement without delays…..
Thinking now I wish I had of just gone with Kogan in the first place.
I'm still waiting for a return of a repair on the G4. Having had to buy another phone in the interim, the LG G4 will be an expensive back up sitting in cupboard.
No return shipping back to QD-AU

  • Is there anyone here who bought from perfect_mission? I should've went the kogan route, 1st LG G4 I got was from kogan, no fuss easy online store credit for when it bootlooped.

I got a 2nd LG G4 for the family from perfect_mission and it has bootlooped with ~9-10 days left on 12mo warranty. Not holding my breath as I don't expect any quick resolution or a timely response to my ebay message.

  • Asked Qd what happen if the boot loop happening again after the fix. And the response is they haven't received any claim the problem reoccurring again.
    Anyone has encountered this?

    • Read other threads on OzB here about the LGG4 and some comments about it happening after the repair too.

    • Most likely its because there hasn't been enough time that's passed with the fixed boot loop issue. Their claim would be more credible if in 3-6 months there still hasn't been another bootloop on a fixed phone.

  • have finally received my one back. well technically not mine as they sent me a replacement(not new)

this was after I emailed them around 10 days ago to find the status they told me they would just replace it.

and another email few day earlier and finally got the DHL number

was delivered this morning. phone looks ok hopefully its all good as I am now past the 12 month warranty so it will go straight to the bin if it does the bloody bootloop again.

    phone was sent on 1/08

  • Just received back my repaired G4. and very happy by cracked screen is gone. I think LG replaced the screen and the mother board?
Also received the battery charging KIT.

Will see how it goes with this one.

  • Posted mine with tracking today

The address I was given was a PO box in postcode 2164.

They mentioned a high volume of returns, primarily for the G4. Estimated 1-2 months turn around. I'm guessing that's on LG's end, so could be without my phone for a fair while.

    • I'm not so sure if it's on LG's end. I think shipping takes a while too.

  • 1/09 Emailed QD_au about boot loop issue
5/09 Sent lgg4 in to RMA
17/10 Received lgg4 with battery charging kit.
My LGG4 is now model 609 which is a fair bit newer than my old one.
All in all a little over 1.5 months. Anyone know how much I can sell the charging kit for? I don't see any listed ones on gumtree and its a whopping 79 dollars which I doubt anyone would pay for.

  • Recieved back my LG G4. It's not the same phone I sent away. Different serial number different IMEU number. It's obviously second hand refurb, the back case is worn and the silver on side of the phone is scratched and scuffed. Mine was in a tough case with screen protector since day one. Phone battery was on zero percent. Plugged it in to charge and the phone started itself after a few minutes.
Disappointing to get back a refurb in poor condition. Considering the length of time since the fault.

  • Got my LG G4 back today. Mine is the same phone that I sent back (same scratches and screen protector on it).

After going through the initialization and setup, I've noticed there are now some weird chinese apps installed…. I'm a little concerned.

Also what are the chances of this getting the bootloop error again? I really like the phone and it's features, besides the fatal bootloop problem that is (and now the dodgy chinese apps that are installed).

    • You can flash a rom onto it. Does it let you delete the apps?

    • They have put back an original (for them) chinese Rom, you need to install another ROM.

  • Bought mine on 04/10/2015 meaning its been 13 months since I bought it. Went into a bootloop a few days ago and without looking into the issue I just bought a new battery thinking it was a battery issue. The new battery did not help at all and have just contacted QD ebay. Is there any chance they'll fix up my phone given its one month over their 12 month warranty period? Anyone else have any luck?

    • They most likely will. Just state it's the bootloop and they claim LG will still honour it. 1 month over is fine. If it bootloops again though you will likely lose it.

  • Update on my situation:

Sent to QD ~10th October and received back today, with a free battery and charger.

Just took a few days to recieve the return address due to holidays.

I paid postage there they paid it back.

The same phone, screen protector still on, back to factory and full wipe by the looks.

No complaints with their handling of the situation, for the price I paid they have done well IMO. Unfortunate situation.
