Looking for a Good Printer to Print Flyers and Other Regular Office Documentation

Hi All,

I am Looking for a Good Printer to Print Flyers and Other Regular Office Documentation for my Business.
I need the flyers to be printed of good quality as it will be in display in shops.

The other office documentation consists of general quotations, Receipts etc.

So can you suggest me a printer with a reasonable price and also where can I buy it in Melbourne.

Thanks,
Vaibhav

    Printer here.

Just shop online and you'll get the best prices and good quality. As long as you avoid Vistaprint the products you buy will be of a high quality. Everyone in the printing game uses the same paper stocks from the same suppliers, the same presses etc. Everyone except Vistaprint that is. Vistaprint rasterise all images to 200dpi to save ink, they use horrible paper stock and the products they call "premium" are below the quality of any other Australian printer's "standard" range.

Go for online because the prices are easily comparable and the price for the products you need (basic office stuff, buscards, with comps, letterheads, envelopes) are the most competitively priced online. Online print businesses in Australia include delivery in all their pricing so you needn't find a local Melbourne printer.

If you do want to walk into a local "print shop" then avoid anyone with a photocopier behind the desk. Printing presses are huge - the photocopier is there for show and to fool customers into thinking they print in-house. They don't. Chances are most "print shops" outsource 99% of their jobs to trade-only printers and they slap their margin on - in which case you are paying to much. Online printers supply to the public at almost trade prices. There are exceptions to this, some local digital printers are located in industrial complexes and have a little sales desk near the front door right in front of their presses and equipment where you can talk to the press operator to enquire about sales. It's a full-sized factory and it's not quiet. Like I said, if there is some dude selling you print and hinting that his tiny little photocopier behind the desk is their workhorse and you can't hear any loud noises or smell any chemicals then it's just a middle-man and you're paying too much.

EDIT: I should've provided some links to good online print businesses. Here are three common ones: http://cmykonline.com.au/, http://www.1print.net.au/ and http://www.darkhorse.com.au/

Thanks for that PBG. I was thinking about Vistaprint for their cheap prices.

    • Mind you, IMHO Vistaprint is pretty low quality but depending on your expectation. Last year I went for a some cheap deals for flyers, the quality printing is bad because of the ink and paper quality. I read somewhere on forum some people are saying they use cheap ink and printer from China that's why. No offence to China products, just that they went for the lowest quality tools. If you're running a small business don't really care about some inaccuracy colours and printing/cuts, go for the cheapest/lowest quality it makes sense. (Sorry Vistarprint). Cheers
